For those who live in U.S. and are interested in Inspiron 7559, I found a pretty good deal from Costco:
    http://www.costco.com/Dell-Inspiron...Graphics-|-4K-Ultra-HD.product.100227554.html

If you are a member of Costco, after you sign in you will see the price, which is $999 before shipping & handling fee. I guess this is the best price you can get for the UHD model with 16GB memory.

Below are the specs listed on the website:

    Processor & Memory:
    • Intel® Core i7-6700HQ Processor 2.6GHz
    • 16GB DDR3L 1600MHz RAM
      Drives:
      • 1TB 5400RPM SATA Hybrid Drive
      • No Optical Drive
    • Operating System:
      • Microsoft® Windows 10
    • Graphics & Video:
      • 15.6" IPS Truelife LED-Backlit 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) Display
      • 4GB NVIDIA® GeForce GTX 960M Graphics
    • Communications:
      • Integrated Widescreen HD Webcam with Digital Microphone
      • Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 + Bluetooth® 4.0
    • Audio:
      • 2x Stereo speakers + Subwoofer with MaxxAudio Pro Audio Processing
    • Keyboard:
      • Dell Backlit Keyboard with Touchpad + 10-key Numeric Keypad
    • I/O Ports & Slots:
      • 3x USB 3.0 (1x with Power Share)
      • 1x HDMI

Well, good luck to you. I think I'll try my luck with the HP 15t Envy. Seems to be almost identical build, but includes 256 SSD and DVD . Screen quality a bit lower and 950M but those don't seem to be deal breakers. Really was smitten with Dell's take on cooling and better battery. In any case, seems to me that Dell has stumbled badly here.

Anyone have the 7559 in grey and if so could you post some pictures just wondering if it has the same one screw setup on the bottom. Thanks!

My audio port broke. I'm thinking of contacting Amazon to see if they'll replace the laptop. It seems the weight of my 1/4" to 3.5 adapter broke it. I still get perfect sound but now it droops and I imagine over time it's just going to stop working.

Has anyone taken this laptop apart? Is there an Audio board or is it soldered to the motherboard? IF there's an audioboard I could just buy it and put it in myself.

I've also had a few BSOD on this laptop from video scheduler handler.

It's usually better to match exact sticks, but at the end of the day it doesn't matter too much, as was mentioned above. The machine will run both sticks at whichever speed is the slowest between the two.

Me? I have OCD with RAM, so I just sell off the stick I have and buy 2x8GB of matching RAM, unless I manage to find the exact match somewhere.

On a side note, my tests with my Clevo show that Skylake CPUs may be shipped with way too much voltage being given to the chip.

I'd highly recommend you all install Intel XTU and undervolt, as much as you can while remaining stable. It should drop your temps quite a bit.

Also, have a look at Turbo Boost Power settings in XTU, it *may* get shipped with it set too low, thereby causing Power Limit Throttling and hindering CPU performance.

Some of those settings were greyed out in XTU i think the last i tried.

    That is very interesting though.

Keep in mind I'm using a desktop 6700K, so I have access to settings you won't. But the Skylake CPUs all seem to be given way too much voltage, so undervolting is definitely a good thing.

Hi, im from the UK and i can only seem to find amazon and dell themselves offering up the laptop for sale. normally this wouldn't be a problem but with dell's trademark useless customer support, I've been informed that i wont be able to create a custom configuration for a month or so until they re-stock. Pair that with amazon UK's poor selection vs their US store and i'm pulling my hair out, so does anyone else know of any eu or uk based retailers that offer the laptop at all?

That is quite revealing and I wonder why others have not noted this. They have however noted the difficulty in getting reliable and stable overclocks. Could that be the reason? That the CPUs are already engineered hot? I'll admit - this is not an area I am that familiar with, but it does seem unusual.

How do you set it up or what program do you use to make sure it boots from the M.2 drive instead of the main drive? How do you copy over the boot files?

I put this one in: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-Hy...qid=1445370000&sr=1-2&keywords=ddr3l+8gb+1600
And it's been working fine. Someone else recommended this one on this thread!

Create Recovery Drive before doing anything.
1.Use Windows USB Tool: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/windows-usb-dvd-download-tool/ to create bootable installation media separate from Recovery Drive.
    2.Unplug SSHD
3.Plug m.2 drive and bootable USB
4.Boot from USB and format m.2 drive then install windows 10 - it will automatically be activated somehow
5.Download all drivers from Dell 7559 page, install them using correct order.
    7.Make sure everything works fine.
    6. Plug SSHD drive and format the primary partition. Make sure not to boot to it because things will get messy.

Hello guys, I got to read until the page 55 but I think that my issue is not going to be from there to this 87 so...

I've been thinking about buying this model given the fact is the best in this price range. In spain they only sell the hybrid drive, and I will choose the 1080p screen res. My doubt is; once I get the PC, I want to buy a SSD with the M.2 port (this samsung 850 that appeared a lot on the threat), install it on the specific bay, and run all programs AND windows itself on the SSD, leaving the hybrid of 1tb for just data such as movies etc. So, I will want the hybrid disk completely CLEAN to zero, and pass all the data to the SSD. Can it be done with a M.2 to usb cable and a clone software tool prior to installing it on the bay? It'd be from 1tb to 256gb but the data wont surpass those 256gb.

I guess after that I will need to change the bios and choose to start the laptop from the SSD. Is that correct? Is the SSD conector slower than the HDD? I guess not given the fact it's a sata III but just asking, I'm a bit novice as you can see. Thanks a lot.

Well, you could simply install the M.2 SSD, then run a cloning software program (such as Acronis True Image), clone the HDD to the SSD, reboot to the SSD, then completely wipe/format the HDD.

Personally, I like things to be much cleaner. If it were me, I'd create a recovery USB drive from within Windows, then uninstall the HDD, install the SSD, install Windows to the SSD using the recovery USB drive, then boot up. I would then re-install the HDD and wipe it clean.

It's best to always remove all drives except the one you want to install Windows on, as it has a nasty habit of installing certain boot files to the secondary HDD. And I much prefer a clean install of Windows to a SSD rather than clone a HDD to the SSD. But that's just me. My method takes longer, but I find it to be much cleaner and less prone to errors/driver issues.

Perfect, think I got it. Same instructions than the colleague 2 posts before than my first. Giving a look at that post; when it says unplug the SSHD, I guess it is to take it physically out of the computer, right?

For usb booting the windows tool I guess I should access to bios and configure it (novice question). Then it says to "format" the ssd disk at m.2 prior to install w10; why is it? Isn't it just blank given tha fact is new? Any format specified for this? I mean nfts, fat32...
Do the windows usb boot let me format it?
I thought simply booting fron usb and installing the w10 image to the ssd would be enough, didn't thought about the format.

So after that, simply choose in bios boot from SSD, plug physically again the sshd and format it once in windows.

    Did I miss something?

Thank you so much and sorry for some questions being too rookie, also for typos as I'm on my phone now

Here in Germany, you can only buy the version with the 128GB ssd and the 1TB hdd.
I have ordered the 7559 at the 11.11. and got it at the 13.11.

You're lucky. In Spain and Italy we can only choose the hybrid disk, no choices on SSD. Fortunately we have that M.2 bay.

Anyway, I think that the orders made now, after this re-stock thing, in the whole european union, the laptops will be leaving the fabric 21-25 days after the adquisition, and I contacted a dell rep to ask him about delivery time for christmas and told me there wouldn't be a chance, as the fabric facilities are based in china and we have to add the shipping time to that 21-25 days of production.

I repeat this is only for EU stores, don't have a clue on the US.

I would urge caution with the Samsung Evo series. They had performance issues in the past, and while they may have fixed them, I would still rather get a Crucial MX200. Unless you get the Samsung Pro series, which is better than their regular Evo.

After more than a month it's not even in production yet. And can't order a german version, that will give me a QWERZ and a ringel-S.

I just got one from Frys electronics for same price and same specs. It's the BOE display. Was hoping to see LG. honestly though I don't think it's that bad. A little dim but for the price I cannot complain. It's just a mobile hotel laptop for me for some light gaming and media. My desktop beast is for when I'm home.

I ordered the Amazon cheaper model as well as it has the SSD and is 49$ cheaper than the $799 price match I got. I'll be returning the Frys one since they're the same laptop.

OK, I've read this whole thread, as well as all the reviews I can find on google, and I still cant decide whether to buy it.

The main reservation I have about this laptop is the screen quality. I live in the UK and as such the FHD and UHD versions aren't that different in price (£100, less than 10%). I'd happily pay the extra if it meant getting a better screen, but nobody seems to be buying the UHD model so there is very little feedback. Most of the feedback I have seen is pretty negative about the FHD panel.

I use CAD design and engineering software which probably isn't going to scale well, however, if it's simply a case of switching to 1080 resolution to use these programs then I guess that's OK. Assuming that 1080p res on the UHD is still going to look as nice as 1080 would on the FHD? I might spend a lot of time at 1080. I'm not too fussed about the matte vs gloss argument.

I guess I cant really see the disadvantage of the UHD version (besides perhaps an hour less on battery life).

The only real alternative at this price point in the UK seems to be the Acer VN7-592, which apparently has a nicer 1080p screen (LG) but reviews of the trackpad are bad, and the battery seems to be very weak, less than three hours with genuine use.

In summary i'm asking if any of the UHD owners can give some decisive feedback either way. Or, perhaps the FHD owners could explain why they didn't spend the extra?

    Thanks in advance.

I have the 4k version and the screen is perfect. I am using the 4k resolution at 150% and it's fine. The battery is also good. I am doing code + photoshop and I can be on the battery for about 4 hours at 50% screen intensity. But I am compiling which is hard on the CPU (I can hear the fan) several time per hours (about 5-10 times per hour).

What is the difference in battery life between the i7 and i5 fhd models? I'm looking to get the laptop for college and if the battery life is greatly affected, I'll be happy with the i5 model. Newegg has the i7 model for 799, so there's not much of a difference.
    Thanks in advance,

Battery life will be essentially identical, unless you're running CPU-intensive programs on battery, in which case the i7, with its higher clocks, will drain a bit more battery.

You can find you serial key with any app such as speccy.. https://www.piriform.com/speccy/download
Jus note the serial. You mostly won't have to enter it manually jus do a clean install and it should activate by itself as the OS picks up the key from the bios.( your key is also embedded in the bios).

Could somebody with a 4K screen do a mini review of the screen.
It costs 100$ more and I don't mind buyin one n running it at 1080p if the screen brightness and srgb/Adobe scores are good
If someone could plz put some details of the panel used for 4K version using : http://filehippo.com/download_hwinfo/
Also some pic would be great..!
And yes is there any sort of backlight bleed on the 4K screen...?

Thanks for replying. That sounds positive. How do you find the general experience at 4k? I have read some reviews of 4k laptops which suggest the hardware can't cope with number of pixels. By that I don't mean game play, I mean general use in windows, browsing etc is sluggish and not smooth.
