The dell model does not come with a 256 M.2 SSD like the amazon model does. The stock 1tb drives in those Dell models are garbage and will need to be replaced instantly.

Bottom line is the Amazon deal is insane by comparison and insane overall when comparing it to anything out there with these specs.

The specs are not that great is you consider the following: no USB 3.1, no Thunderbolt, not that great IPS display, mediocre keyboard and speakers.

You bought the wrong laptop then if you needed 3.1or thunderbolt.

The screen and keyboard are perfectly adequate for a sub $800 laptop.

I looked at every sub $1000 laptop out there with similar specs and they all have short comings.

What i wanted was an SSD standard and great battery life.

All the $1000 notebooks offered mostly DDR4 and USB 3.1 which i will never need in the life of this machine but did not offer good battery life nor an SSD.

It's not that much of a great deal dude. Have you heard the review where there's a case when somebody called dell to be assisted with the "loose" touchpad, dell answered that the warranty's expired. You can check your warranty by the way in Dell Tech Support chat.

Edit: Oopss, It seems it's not the touchpad but the WLAN card

50OFF699 you should ask the dell customer rep to apply it.

If it's not a great deal and you are not happy why are you even here ? Return it and go buy your dream laptop.

It is a great deal and I have owned e every alienware msi and clevo asus machine. So I have plenty to compare it to.

    'Sub $800 laptop' ?

I have no idea how cheap those things are in USA, but the cheapest version (FHD, black, 1TB hybrid, 8GB RAM and 6700HQ) in Holland is €999. No SSD (only a hybrid drive..) so i've ordered a €90 m2 SSD and a 2x2 wifi card for €29. Totals around €1120 - and thats $1207. Not a cheap laptop by far...you could buy 2 nice i5 laptops for that amount.

But maybe I'm still pissed about that fact that mine won't ship until 31-dec...(it's on 'work in progress' for 3 weeks now I guess).

Amazon has them here in the USA for $759 with a 256gb SSD.

It is the i5 Quadcore model. Since Skylake went quadcore with i5 i could care less and im guy who always had to have i7 quadcores in everything.

Some people when buying computers have these long term visions from a purchase but you are better off just selling it off after a year and getting the latest spec.

With these inexpensive machines that is very easy to do because your loss is going to be very minimal on something that was $800.

Buy a $3000 Alienware and next year sell it you will be looking at around a $1000 loss give or take.

Thunderbolt external GPUs USB 3.1 all are not necessary to me and if i want or need that kind of power and all those bloody attachments like Screen, keyboards and external GPUs im just gonna get a desktop for that kind of work load .

I've checked, but Amazon.com does not ship to my country. And if it did, it would take an additional $250 for customs and other charges (we have a calculator-app for that).

And indeed, the 6300HQ would be great.
All similar laptops here either have a 6700HQ (overkill) or a 6200U (low voltage and bottom range).
But if you build your own perfect laptop (like a Clevo), there will be no Windows licence (or...pay $150 extra).

What I meant was as for the deal on amazon. It looks like you have to compromise your warranty for the deal.

Maybe it was a stupid representative who didn't know what he was talking about (wouldn't be the first time would it). I'm pretty sure even the amazon one would carry the standard 1 year warranty.

Plus, the MINIMUM warranty that dell products come with is 90 days and this laptop isn't that old.And I'm pretty sure it's 90 days only for some refurbished items. So ya, probably a stupid rep.

Indeed i saw there is no warranty lines in Dell's site, does that mean there is no warranty indeed? it makes no sense..

I thought that by law, for a new product like a laptop for such a price, they have to provide 1 year..
It might be some kind of error or maybe you need to register the laptop first

Yes, definitely an error. In the amazon page for the product, under "warranty and info" box where it says,

=>> Product Warranty: For warranty information about this product, please click here.[PDF] <<=

if you click the "click here", the pdf that opens says that all dell products come with a "90-day, 1- year, 2-year, 3-year, 4-year, 5-year" warranty. So worse case scenario that this is a 90 day warranty product (Which it's not), the warranty can't have been over since the product was released less than 90 days ago.

I think you might be able to get a Clevo N155RD for close to the same money, or maybe an ASUS G551 or MSI GE62 on sale, but otherwise it is indeed one of the better deals out there.

What is everyone talking about ????

The Amazon model comes with the same 1 year mail in warranty as the Dell.com models come with.

Want a better warranty like at home next day service which no other company offers ? Just call Dell and tell them to upgrade your warranty.

Dell gives you plenty of options and having owned so many Alienwares over the years i can tell you there is nothing like next day service at your doorstep.

XPS and Alienware come standard with At Home Warranty.

Can anyone tell me of a better laptop than this for under $1500? I been looking and the only one that can match it is the Lenovo y700 and Lenovo can't match dell's accidental insurance.

That depends on what you mean by "better". Better specs/screen? Try a Clevo P650RE or P650RG. ASUS GL552, MSI GE62/GS60, you can even get an Alienware 15 for under $1500.

And Lenovo does offer accidental damage protection.

Look at the question/answers on the amazon page, and search for "warranty". all results indicate that it does in fact have a year of warranty.

What's odd is if you add the service tag to your Dell account, it shows "expired warranty".

I'm looking to buy a laptop mostly for work with some gaming and lots of Netflix and YouTube editing and uploading. As of right now the best laptop I can find under $1500 is the Dell 15 7000 7559 the one for $1299 on their site. It has i7 6th gen, 16gb ram, 128ssd & 1tb hdd, uhd 4K touch screen, and of course the Nividia m960 with 4gb it also has some special type of thermal cooling that no other 7559 has at least that's what the Dell rep told me. Now my question is can you tell me of a laptop that can beat those specs for under $1500 I have yet to see one and in my opinion it seems like this Dell is the best all around laptop under $1500. Thanks for the help!

Do not believe a single word a rep tells you about special abilities the machine he wants to sell you has.

They are all the same . The cooling is just fine on the machine and well below some machines and a little higher then others.

There's no such thing as the "best laptop", there's only what's best for you. For example, if you do indeed want the 4K display, not many other laptops offer it at this price point, so that indeed makes it a good buy.

I personally place far more importance on the GPU than most other components, because while you can upgrade your SSD/HDD, RAM and WIFI card (and even the LCD display panel), you're stuck with your CPU and GPU. So for me, the "best" laptop under $1500 is the one that comes with the most powerful GPU. So in my case, the best laptop under $1500 is probably the Clevo P650RE, since it starts at $1230 with a GTX 970M, which is far more powerful than the 960M.

Take the Clevo N155RD for example. It also has the i7, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 128GB SSD, 1TB HDD, GTX 960M. It doesn't however, have a 4K screen, but it has a better FHD IPS panel than the one found on the Dell, while having a better wifi card and an optical drive. To some, that might make it better. At this configuration, it costs $1160.

Or the ASUS GL552. Pretty much the same specs, but with a FHD instead of 4K screen, and has an optical drive. A bit cheaper at $1260.

The biggest draw of the Dell is the 4K screen, so if you truly want that, then I agree the Inspiron is probably your best bet at this price range. You can get a machine like the aforementioned Clevo P650RE with a 4k screen, but then you can't match those exact specs (RAM and SSD), since you have to give some of that up for the better GPU.

If the 4K screen is more important to you than a better GPU and G-SYNC, then get the Inspiron.

I agree that the 4K is a strong selling point on the Dell and I also agree that the GPU and CPU are the most important but I told myself I would never buy another Asus (my last laptop was an Asus Q500a and had horrible experience and their customer support was the same) and while I like the specs on the Clevo and MSI and their full customization I try to stay away from custom computers because I'm not a computer tech I wouldn't know which parts to choose from so I need to buy one prebuilt so I try to stick to brands that are well known like Dell, Lenovo, Sony, etc.. Also if something goes wrong I need rely on the insurance and warranty that's why I'm leaning towards the Dell.

Thanks for the advice and quick response i need to do more research.

Also, if you want 4k resolution for gaming, you should wait for Pascal Nvidia Cards to be released. It is said to be 10x more powerful than maxwell architectures.

Question for those who bought the Dell 15 7000 7559 if you upgraded the ram to 16gb is it better to buy 2 new 8gb sticks from the same brand or just one and if so which one or it doesn't matter what brand? Thanks!

    I'm looking to buy the
Kingston Technology HyperX Impact Kit 1600MHz DDR3L CL9 SODIMM 1.35V from Amazon for $84

I just found the exact match on eBay i paid right around $40 shipped.

Others may want different or faster RAM or they have stuff kicking around from other notebooks so they throw that in maybe looking they went out of the way to get new RAM.

The difference is so minimal if at all to the naked eye i just stick with adding to stock.

So I'm going to be adding this ram to the i7559 amazon version InShaaAllah: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CQ35HBQ/

Are there any compatibility issues I should be worried about?

As far as buying 2 sets of lower latency rams is concerned, from what I've read online, there really isn't any difference in performance so it's not really something to invest in...

i think Dell is cheating us :( , i really dont know 7559 screen is so bad i mean BOE brand which is inferior to many including TN,
also look like there is two versions of 7559 one came with BOE screen ( me and alot of users bought it ) with price 759$ on amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=2253014322&pf_rd_i=desktop

while the other one 7559 came with Trulife with price 902$
    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B015PYZ186/ref=twister_B016VLEM5K?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

i really dont know thier is Trulife version  , shame on you Dell

That is a 3rd party companies listing claiming a trulife screen because Dell penned the word Trulife, so this company selling them on Amazon is using that word to lure people like you into thinking hmm Trulife screen WOW!! what am i missing ?? It is the same panel and same specs . There is no Trulife screen in 1080p for this machine.

And of course if you do not believe any of that then order it from this 3rd party seller just make sure they have a good and easy return policy ;).

It wont.have a different slot. That is not Dell's style.

You would have to go to a premium brand like XPS for that.

    Hello,

    I currently have a XPS 15 9530. i7-4712HQ(quad core) 16GB DDR3L RAM, GT 750M, and 1TB HD+32GB mSATA SSD.

I am considering selling my XPS so I can purchase a new laptop, I've been hearing great things about this machine. Is it worth it? What is the discussion going on with the Hard Drives?? M.2, PCIe, mSATA III??

I plan on using this new machine for normal use(email, web surfacing, youtube, etc.) and maybe some gaming(GTAV). Is this Inspiron worth it?

    Absolutely worth it IMHO.

Get the Amazon model first , check it out and see if it is up to your liking then sell off the XPS.

With Amazon you will have plenty of time to decide what you want to do.

The reason I ask is because the XPS 9530 has had many issues with the coil whine and the Intel Rapid Start Tech configurations.

Could I possibly get a more information about it, since I assume you have one. Just a brief review, sorry if I'm asking for too much but I'm need of a good machine, and would like a good opinion.

    Carlos,
Out of curiosity. What delivery date is Dell telling you?
Mine has been on order since 14 Oct. and extended now until 28 Dec!! Cancel that sucker!
Before it was the M2 SSD that was a shortcoming in the pipeline, now I don't know what the issue is but think it might be the CPU. Just wondering.

I was ready to order like 1,5 weeks ago and it just disappeared from the website. Talking to the chat doesn't help much since to have no idea when it's going to be available. I hope other skylake notebooks are going to start coming in soon cause I'm afraid it's going to be quite a while for this notebook to be readily available.

So my i7559 (the amazon deal) should be here in a couple of days InShaaAllah...

In preparation for that, was looking online for some monitor calibration tools and something to help me measure the screens color gamut. Surprisingly and unfortunately, couldn't find any good resources.

Can someone point me to them?
