Is anyone else having issues registering thumb clicks on the lower region of the touchpad (near the red '|' line/separator). Finger clicks work, but I tend to use my fingers to move the cursor and then click using my thumb...

Could anyone tell me the size of the m.2 screw that holds the ssd? I believe it's a torx head but the smallest driver bit I have is a T-8. I do have the screw, since Dell was so thoughtful to include it, to add the M.2 ssd, just need the bit to remove/replace it & install my new Samsung 500GB.

I bought Kingston 120GB m.2 SATA SSD and it works great! I get 550mb/s read speed and 350mb/s write speed. It make so much different in the overall speed of the laptop. In my opinion to get the full potential of this laptop an SSD is a must. Also I didn't find that the screen was not good. I like the touch pad as well, it has some nice gestures. So far I tested Cod:MW2 at max, Cod:BO at max, LoL at max and they run smoothly. I love the sound too, it is clear and loud. I come from a 5 year old Sony VAIO laptop maybe that's why I am so impressed.

I'm looking at getting the 4k i76700hq version of this. Is the 4k display worth it? Does windows 10 have many scaling issues? Does performance suffer if using the 4k display?

I got the 6700 hq with 16gb of ram and 4k last Friday

first thing I noticed was touchpad was loose and is rubbish, I absolutely hated this laptop until today when I purchased a Bluetooth mouse and it became the laptop I thought I was buying. It really is fast and powerful especially for me coming from a 6 year old MacBook pro (which I will be keeping btw because I still love it).

    Is 4k worth it?
well I use it with resolution set to 1080p. 4k is unusable with this machine, looks lovely but I couldn't even watch youtube videos without stuttering. Most apps don't scale well with 4k. Photoshops menus are tiny, unreadable for example.

Would I still get the 4k?
Yes I would. you don't end up with the horrible bezel that comes with the 1080p version. It's touchscreen, and by all accounts the 1080p screen is muck.

    Would I recommend this laptop?
Yes. For the money nothing comes close in terms of spec, but it's not without its problems

I also have the one with 4k screen. One thing weird with this screen is when there is a large amount of blue changing on the screen, the backlight seems to change with it slightly. For example, selecting and deselecting large block of texts on this page or hovering over links on https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads. Is this the normal effect of dynamic backlight control, which was discussed in http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...alibration-thread.758153/page-3#post-9736826?

This is the time it needs to boot from shut down using the Kingston 120GB M. 2 SATA SSD.

^ Impressive, slightly slower than leaving the SSHD in sleep mode- obviously much faster than a cold boot.

I prefer one single drive, so on my list is to install a 250GB 2.5" SSD.

    Hello,
I just got the laptop and my first impression is that the 4k screen look yellowish compared to my old Dell Inspiron 15sr 7520. I have play a little bit with the brightness and it doesn't seem to be enough.

The second thing I realize is the that 4k is set with a zoom of 250% which make it looks like my HD laptop (7520). Setting to 100% make this laptop not usable, way too small. I am right now at 175%.

The speed so far is not bad, I will do some compilation test with Visual Studio soon.

I have to say that the screen color is bugging me a little since I am also editing photos and videos. I start to wondering if I should have opted for the Yoga 900 instead (I know not the same thing but it was my second choice).

I did some compilation. On my old Dell Inspiron 7520 building was taking about 3 minutes. With this Dell Inspiron 7559 it takes under 45 seconds. The SSD, Ram and processor are really helping.

So it's been 4 hours that I am working on it. So far, I am installing a lot of software so I cannot tell about the battery (I am plugged). However, I can give some feedback about the keyboard. I like the feel but do not like that it's smaller than my old laptop. I guess the keypad as a price to pay. I am also not sure about the arrows position which is under-left the <enter> key. This is different layout from the previous Dell laptop I owned and also different from my full keyboard at my job. I am always hitting the keypad.

The mousepad is not so bad, I still prefer real 2 buttons. After 30 minutes I was tired to use it and plugged a mouse. I do not think it's bad, just not perfect. It makes also a lot of noise when pression compared to the 2 buttons I had on the older version.

The most annoying element of the system is that I am not sure if the screen color is what it suppose to be I also heard a lot the fan this evening while installing Sql Server, Visual Studio, Office etc. I guess it's normal since they are big software. During the weekend I'll do additional tests battery and will post them.

The screen is really glassy so it's dirty like a cellphone. It's not noticeable when the color are light, but you can definitely see the fingers natural grease being on the screen.

Yes it is a finger print magnet. Pretty much like any other black rubberized laptop you have seen out there.

If you have extra dry skin this will not be an issue :D.

Nope the palmrest gets the equal amount of human oils. YMMV

There is a video out there, a day one unboxing and the guy was sweating all over the palmrest which at somepoint he said how disgusting it got.

This is not a reason to not purchase the machine.

The value is there especially the amazon model for $799 with the 256gb SSD IMHO.

Anyone else have issues with the speakers? I noticed today while on battery that it sounded crackely, better but still noticeable on mains. Tried adjusting the sound settings but it made no difference. All drivers up to date. I also had to change to NVidia card for browsing online as the intel card kept popping up with the message "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered"
it does this about every 20 mins of browsing, hasn't happened since I switched to NVidia.

Your graphic card is really acting weird. This should not happen at all. Have you try to contact Dell's support?

I have no issue with the speakers.

obviously they don't know what they are talking about. It's a sata m.2 port. Lots of people here have confirmed that by adding a m.2 sata to their 7559...

2)what is the read write speed ur getting with the hybrid drive .. for me its like 80MBps when copying locally .. this seemed high for me :) .. like my 5 year old laptop does like 6MBps (7200rpm drive) .. i mean just curious that at 5200 rpm this is like 10x faster .. may be the old one is broken .. i never noticed earlier but now i am copying stuff i saw this diff :)

Not that I've seen. I would think that since they only support DDR3L and not DDR4 that they would have skimped on the connector as well and put something in there that only supports sata vs pcie.

Something must not be letting your PC sleep if its draining that much power even if the screen is off.

That old drive must be seriously broken . At 6 megs it would be like running an OS from an old thumb drive.

    Thank you!

I downloaded the .cab file and was able to extract it in Windows 10 to a folder I named "ELAN".

I did not have to install the driver manually. I just ran the "dpinst.exe" file there and it seemed to have worked.

The trackpad is now working 1000 times better, especially the 2-finger scroll which was hardly working at all before.

I'm sure this detail is here somewhere but the thread has gotten to 79 pages and the searches I've performed don't give a match so please be forgiving :).

Can anyone tell me the model or exact specs (cas latency) for the ram included with the amazon i7559 version having the 256 gb SSD? also, if anyone has upgraded the ram of the laptop by adding an additional stick, which model they use (so as to confirm compatibility)

stock module is CL11 (see customer image on the amazon review)

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...rue&ref_=ox_sc_sfl_title_1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

it supports only DDR3L sticks. you can see in this review, stock ram replaced with 1866 CL10 sticks.

    Hey all,

Has anyone posted a GPU-Z shot of the 960m yet? I'm curious to see if Dell have butchered it in anyway, I haven't found one when searching the thread so if you have the machine could you take one please... Also can somebody who has one show us a pic of the power brick as I'd like to know what kind of a monster it is or at least give the model number of it.

    Thanks!
