Yeah, I know people did it but there was no real confirmation of the brightness still working. I did find someone who confirmed it for me on Reddit so I will assume it will work.

I ordered the AUO IPS panel because that one seems to be compatible, has 97% sRGB coverage and has a lower response time of 25ms.

Correct but this is not for EU sales jet, and it will only be delivered with the GTX1050 (no GTX1050Ti) when you select the Intel setup or with the AMD Radeon™ RX 460 when you select the AMD setup

Hi, Does picture (fonts, icons, etc...) apear blurry when you set screen resolution to FHD on UHD screen or does it look the same like on native FHD screen? Comparison screenshots would be much appreciated.

Hi sorry I didn't report back, i'm having a lot of work and no time to play with the new laptop :)

Yes the the 8265 is working nice, replacement was super easy, i'm using the driver from Dell for the moment. The connection show "733 mbps" but i'm getting 300mb on speedtest (i have a 1gigabit fiber connection).. I'm using both 2,4 ghz and 5 ghz wifi so probably the router cannot use 2 antennas to boost the speed on wifi.

Still deciding if update the driver to the last one instead of using Dell ones

How should I procede with a clean update? Should I download and extract the .inf from the exe file and update in Device Manager? or should I just run the Intel exe and let the installer take care of it?
Btw on the Intel site there are 2 files:
    • Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Windows® 10
    • Intel® Wireless Bluetooth® Software for Windows® 10

Damn I realized it's a lot cheaper here in Canada... I bought that exact spec (minus the IPS of course) for $1250 CAD - $125 cashback = $1125 CAD = $820 USD

According to youtube review of the model with FHD TN display (euro model with white keyboard), it looks like machines with white keyboard have better TN displays, though i could be wrong:

Just be aware some resellers (EX: BEST BUY) are selling the ones with the TN panel not the IPS for the 4th model. The "Display" information on the website does not indicate TN or IPS, even though the store person stated it had an IPS screen.

Hi, finally bought the machine, euro model i7-7700HQ, UHD screen, nVidia 1050Ti 4GB, 128GB SSD (SKhynix) + 1TB HDD (Toshiba) + 8GB RAM, Ubuntu (I did a clean Win10 home install), surprisingly enough it came with the red keyboard.
Screen is nice, slight backlight bleeding left bottom corner and edge, but nothing too noticable. No scaling issues (older apps that have scaling issues just run in compatibility mode set to high DPI: System).
It already came with AHCI mode activated in BIOS despite BIOS not being the latest version from dell site.
Noisewise, it is loud while playing games on charger (headphones are appreciated), but surprisingly quiet when playing games on battery. Machine never gets hot, it has good cooling.
Most of the time except when gaming machine is silent. Hope this info helps someone.
    Cheers

Could you tell us the exact model# of your display panel? You could run Moninfo and copy/paste the ' Raw data' section at the bottom-right of the window or use ' File -> Save as .bin' and upload that somewhere.

Does someone know, which RAM manufacturer Dell uses in the UHD model, that you can purchase an identical match for the 2nd slot? Or are they using different brands on the same model, so you have to look first after purchase? Just "DDR4-2400 SODIMM" is a little too general.

In most of the Dell laptops I've seen recently (Latitude/Precision/Inspiron), it's all SK Hynix. It's also the model of RAM they sell on their website.

If you're getting DDR4-2400 RAM, it's going to be SK Hynix.

hmmmmmm. I may grab one of these gaming notebooks to replace my aging acer 7720. I would be using it for light gaming and music production in my music room. I do like the idea of having a system to run Forza on!

A few quick observations since receiving mine on Friday:

    • The display is an IPS-type panel from AUO (so not the LG others have been receiving). Decent, not great.
    • The keyboard is lacking. Very shallow, I dislike typing on it. For reference, I'm used to typing on a mechanical keyboard (Corsair K70)
    • This thing gets LOUD. Very loud. Even my wife commented on it. You can hear it from across the house, on the second floor. The components stay very cool, but the price you pay is a LOUD system (when gaming/stressing the CPU/GPU) - it's silent when idle or under very light loads
    • EDIT: Using a free app on my phone, I get noise readings of up to 50dB(A) under load. Not the most accurate of tests, but it gives an idea of how loud this gets
    • It's nice from a build point of view. The soft-touch finish is nice, the red colouring is great, it's surprisingly thin (the shape helps it feel slimmer in your hand than it actually is). There is almost no flex, even on the keyboard. Very solid, much more so than the pricier Latitude laptops
Overall it's a good buy, but I don't know if I can handle the noise and keyboard. When my wife turns around and stares, you know it's too loud.

So I got my 7567 over the weekend and its having some serious problems. The computer keeps hitting blue screens of death and shuts off. The wifi also stops working intermittently (go to airplane mode to get it working again). Other than those major issues, this is a pretty sweet laptop for the money. Anyone have any advice regarding the wifi?

    HI.

You cannot get a 120Hz with this laptop, i got one from ebay a replace it.

its very easy to replace, look at this video.

About the other problems you have, try to do a clean install of windows, i got the same problem with the wifi, but a got a 512gb ssd and did a clean install on windows, now it works perfect.

It might fix the sound problems, not sure about battery life. That might be a BIOS issue.

Is 4K really needed? I think a good HD monitor would be sufficient in a laptop and save battery life.

    Hi guys.

So I got my 7567 This week with the 4k screen since it was on sale and it's the only way to get a IPS in my country right now (Dell itself confirmed to me that they currently arren't selling the 1080p IPS version).

Anyway, so far I'm really happy with it. I love how it looks, the performance is great and the screen is pretty great.

The battery life is quite dissapointing though. I was expecting it to be worse than the 1080p models but only by mabye 2 hours or so. Currently while browsing and doing a bit of downloading on the back (not allways) I get around 4,5 hours from a full charge. It makes me worry there might be something wrong with my device when I read reviews saying the 1080p version lasted for like 11 hours while browsing. I was expecting like 7 hours or so but 4 and half is pretty low

Anyone else with the 4K version? Is this normal or should I be contacting Dell?

    Hi,
I have 4K model, and battery life is about the same, I'm not too worried because i mostly use it on charger, try updating to latest bios (v1.0.7 ), after update i think machine runs slightly more quieter (thou i could be wrong because i got used to it's noise :))
    P.S.
Does your 4K screen has backlight bleeding?

The FHD (1920x1080) IPS display on this laptop is average, while the UHD (4K) display is really good. I'm not talking about the pixel density (which is obviously higher on the UHD panel) - I'm talking about brightness, colour space coverage, viewing angles and colour accuracy. That's why people often go for the UHD display - it's just a better display panel.

Ok, fair enough. I know that the panel I have in my 13 5000 2 in 1 was rated really bad by reviewers using meters etc....HOWEVER, in the real world, it is actually quite good. I read reviews after I bought it, and thought, well that's getting sent back. Howver, once I fired it up. It is NOTHING like what the reviewers had said. I don't know if dell changed it for something else or whatever. All I know, is it is very good and I see no need to change it, or upgrade if you were thinking about it. That one also goes for my wifes 11 3000. it's display is very good too. We were using an MacBook, and 2 surface 3s before our dells.

I mean the exhaust fans, yes. I measured them at over 50dB(A), which is close to what Notebookcheck got as their results - 47dB(A). That's loud.

I quote: "Under load the fans speed up quickly and produce a noise close to 47 dB(A). Headphones or speakers set to a loud volume are required in order to drown out the fan noise. "
