Am I missing something ? I placed the order on 14th Sep (for a SXPS 16) and I got the laptop delivered to my father in Mumbai on 21 Sep ! is there anything suspicious or I'm just a lucky customer ?

We're unlucky this time my friend....
first dell delayed us and now bluedart is.... bluedart;s even more ish... they say you will get the lappi tommorow whenever i call them.
They say it has reached pune but due to ganesh visarjan it would reach me by 23/24

 

such inconsistency on their part really damages their identity. I strongly feel they should improve their shipping methodology. here in India nobody values the importance of time which a lot of corporates take advantage of, but, thing are slowly changing for the good. sorry guys. :-(. I pray for your lappies to be united with you soon.

 

We should ask for compensation from Dell

 

yesterday at 4:20 jst receved my first lappy.so exited......

(I live in bhubaneshwar & dell won't ship to Orissa, some customs or tax issue they say). anyway congratulations on your first laptop . (mis is also my first).

Even i recieved my laptop yesterday..... and my luck i recieved a soundbar with my laptop... dont know if its mine only as i never ordered it so not opening it

i am very pleased with dell sales representative Mr.Mahendra Shetty(+91-80-25106675) who assisted me in my purchase.if anyone want to buy from Dell,contact him, and u will find him very helpful and cooperative.

one thing i didn't like about dell purchase,is that i had to get issued a Certificate 39(that i am purchasing the dell laptop for my personal use and will not sell it as a dealer by filling form 42 of trade tax department) from trade tax office.this is the form for road permit and VAT removal.i think this should be done by dell itself.

nice deal . Pls if you can opt for 2 years XPS premiere with 2years complete cover. As Dell laptops in my experience need that.

 

I got mine for 72,271 INR. Exactly the same config ! Even though 1.2k is nothing as compared to the total product cost I was just wondering what the extra 1.2k was for .

 

Although you payed 5000 more for a better laptop from a better company.....
I dont know about others but i do regret my purchase.

 

i also ordered :-Targus Curve 16" Backpack (grey/platinum) 1
and it may be the intel wifi 5300(i upgraded)

both are near 1300 this is the difference which may have occurred between our configuration.

else u got a better deal than me...

thanks for the suggestion,but as i had already ordered, so to change the service plan i need to cancel it and reorder with the change which will cause more delay in by delivery date.

i will buy /renew the subscription when the current one will expire.

i got call from Dell .they told me the delivery is delayed because of unavailibity
of LCD panel.
they will update my status on or after 12 october 2010.

may I know why ?
i know there are vaios with ATI 5650s(without any i7s, and poor rams) around 50-60K in the market, but, I'm happy with my purchase. no overheating and throttling so far. even 2-3 hrs of playing Crysis(on high at 1280x720 with 2xAA) or MW(all settings high) never takes my gpu above 74C. max i've seen was 77C. I'm loving it. though very angry with the really stupid heat vent concept of blowing air directly at the screen.

 

sorry for the late reply, it was the 5300, I had the 1520 card ! I do have the backpack included.

about the order, I placed it on 14 sep and got it delivered on 21 sep, guess dell didn't give me a chance to complain and get a free soundbar like bharatbharija.

 

you are really lucky.my order got canceled.they say that i7 is now not available with Full HD .
i will get my refund on Thursday .as compensation i am getting a targus backpack.

I hate to say this, but, taking a note from the non-availability of good configurations it looks like they are going to introduce the xps 15 and 17 in the indian market too. my new laptop is going to be outdated soon .
i'm perhaps the last few to receive those.
btw will you be getting the backpack for free without the laptop ?

 

yes.....they are giving me laptop backpack as compensation for the money and time i spent.i got my full refund but still waiting for the laptop bag.

the new series is not i want.you are lucky that you have the old one.the old one got more power and looks far better than new XPS.

now i am planning to buy HP DV6 select edition or ENVY 17.

yep, that's true the older one's looks are enought to tell them apart ! but they shouldn't be compromising thermal design for cool looks like in the older model.

 

Earlier XPS that we have definitely looks cool but even i dont like their thermal design.... same is the case with the studio 15 also i was talking about ASUS and toshiba as competition and not VAIo as i dont regard cheap e-series as a competition to XPS.... Cheers you dont need to fight
HP's are cool with island keys.... but pls do practice some typing on them before buying as they might be a little uncomfortable.....

The same horrible experience for me as well.

I have ordered a DELL laptop from DELL India on October 2nd. I am from Amsterdam and I ordered this laptop for my father, who is in India. I have made the payment using my credit card the very same itself and im promised that I should get the laptop in 7 working days. i used to check the status of the order in DELL website and after 3-4 days I could see its in 'manufacture build complete". I waited...and waited and waited..still there is no change in status. I sent a mail to the sales person asking the actual status. She told me to contact customer care. I sent 3 mails to customer care and I haven't received any reply. after few days I called customer care, the update what i got was that the factory has not yet received the "Declaration letter" from the sales person. And she told that its a common issue they are facing now a days. She told me that it will take another 10 to 15 days for the laptop to get delivered. Today is November 2nd. Still i have not received my laptop...

DELL..NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

I got my laptop delivered when it still showed 'manufacturing build complete' so don't worry about that. But considering the fact thet you've sill not got after 1 month, looks like you should complain to the sales rep about the availability of the new xps 15/17 and that you want to upgrade. I feel the delay is due to the new xps series. sorry mate.
read the posts, samiryadav ordered on oct 8 and his order got cancelled(on the grounds of non availability of i7 with FHD) but received 'a' free carry case after his ordeal ! plz, I don't mean to scare you but i'm just telling you the fact in case you too have a i7 with FHD. bharatbharija even got a soundbar with the system for the delay. tell the reps those !

WHAT ! your CVD field is empty ? I don't believe it ! whats your model and where do you live exactly ? google 'CVD duty'. if it's zero means you are saving a lot on the price !

i ordered a laptop on the 25th october but in between they introduced the xps 15 series ,hence in the mid november i changed my order even after the production was complete.they changed my order by releasing a credit note.the dell site is showing that they have recieved the order but not revealing any delivery date.
i am pissed at their speed ,their response time.My sales representative does not reply either on mail or on mobile.the customer care is a big sham.

i will be changing my address in a few days and don't know whether they will change my shipping address or not.....

Dell's online tracking is not that upto date. I ordered my Inspiron 14R on Jan 22nd, this is the order status from Dell online order tracking...

Yep, I got my laptop on 9th, the Dell order status was updated later that night after delivery.... right now tying from it... Great laptops!!!
