You have LED but when you ordered and when it hits the build table may play a large part.

The sku issues with the LED and bluetooth were resolved yesterday afternoon so anything after will go through and presumably anything before as well.

But...there has been a cancellation today of one forum member and we dont know why yet.

If all goes well, you should receive an led. If you dont simply call XPS support and they will send u a new laptop with the proper LED and poss even an upgrade who knows...

My order is being put back into the system. Here's what he said about the delay.

I am too angry for words right now.

I dont know if this will assist others but, my delivery date just changed from 9 Sep to 15 August.

These orders are the orders that kept getting cancelled because of sku concerns and were resubmitted by Dell yesterday.

    This could be good news.

I don't know.. the manager at the call centre told me it'd be 33 days from today for my order. He also reinput my order wrong, so he had to cancel it and reorder it again. Sigh. Anyway, you'd think the manager there wouldn't be entirely clueless...

When did you place your order again?

My order was resubmitted by Dell yesterday...actually 3 as it now seems. They all have the same eta.

I dont rely on this; trust me althouth it does support that ghost shipment at the end of the month they are trying to fill.

Well, I've been following this (and the American) thread since I ordered and thought I might as well chime in on the off chance that my info helps put together a picture. Hell, I don't even have my own account, just a bugmenot one. flamenko and matttk, thanks for all your posts.

    I'm ordering from Toronto.
    Ordered: 16 Jul 2007
    In Production: 16 Jul 2007
    EDD: 3 Sep 2007
Since the 16th the status/EDD has not changed, orders have not been cancelled.

Interesting Notes: no bluetooth, yes LED, ordered through small business (does this make a difference?)

I got an email from a CSR to confirm my order that day with his personal email address and phone extension in his signature. He was difficult to hear on the line so I insisted on email correspondence. After I complained about needing the computer for school, he wrote this.

"This is to inform you that the order which you have placed is in production process. I have put a rush on this order. I will see that you will receive the system within 27th august. However, I will update you if we are facing any problem as it is a new product line." -19 Jul

Although in the other two email confirmations (I got three) it showed this for the LED:

I was disappointed not to see the case some Americans are talking about. One can only hope. Any comments are welcome.

I dont recall seeing the case in the writeup at all. If you have owned XPS systems before you will know that they come with all the goodies.

With my XPS M1210 'The squealer' I got the following extras:

    XPS CD Case
    All system Cds
    Earphones in XPS bag
    2 other knit XPS bags
Full operation manual which also shows how to change most parts including keyboard/ram etc.

I wish you luck with your order but you should sign up with Dell.ca. When you do this and then sign in, you will come directly to the 'my orders' page which is the most up to date.

Oh and as of yesterday afternoon 5589 (red) and 5591(blk) are LED proper skus

Oh yeah I forgot to add that my order was "in production" within an hour or two of it being put back into the system (I know this because they put it into the system while I was on the phone). So "in production" is DEFINITELY a huge lie. lol

Yeah, that's what I figured. I really wish it was more specific or didn't say "in production" until it was actually in production.

The end month shipment and my belief that they are trying to load up the orders on it (that were orig supposed to be there) is just that....a guess, be it educated or not.

If you buy a system is it poss you will get on it? Sure its possible.

As for the LED issue, its all fixed. If you had the orig 5583 that was great, the unfortunate part was you got caught in the prob that the sku issues caused.

The sku was always supposed to be 5583. Somehow, they screwed up the others and had to accomodate for all the orders that were LED but had 5589/5591...so they fixed the software program.

If you change anything, anything at all...they have to cancel and give you a new number.

Ah, I was just a little thrown off by what you wrote earlier that 5589 and 5591 were the proper LED SKUs, without including the 5583 one in there. :p

I know what you mean by that last line. I called them to ask about one of my components and literally the first thing they said was, I'm going to have to cancel this order and replace it for any change.

Haha, that shut me up quick. :p

My two purchase orders are Aug 15 and my replacement order is Aug 2. Im not writing it to upset anyone, but rather, to show maybe the wheel is again turning as slow as it may be.

Personally, I will only believe a purchase date when my purolator guy shows up at my door.

The right people say that many people will find their orders on next weeks shipments. The earlier date is because it is a replacement for this m1210 which gives it a priority status.

Your given a company response for your order Matt...Think Positive...

I reconfigured my system today (middle one) and was told the 2 would still ship together with the Aug date.

Call Support...800-847-4096 press 1-2-1 then when the girl checks into your order, ask her to do a check with texas for the latest ship date estimate..might be good news.

The latest estimate on the My Account page is actually later than the call centre one.. I don't know if I can handle a third estimate source. haha

I just called customer service, and they informed me there's a 15-day backorder on the chassis, so the earliest ship date for me is Aug. 15. Can anyone confirm the lead time on that?

15 August seems to be a standard ETA date suddenly. Something interesting I just learned is, some CSR Reps can call directly to Texas and some cannot, depending on their classification. With respect to the gentleman I just spoke to, he stated that he goes by the date displayed with the system original order, and they have delay forms that they use to add to that date.

So...lets say your orig system was 6 Sep and he saw a 2 week lead on the chassis, he would automatically give you a date2 weeks after the 6 Sep date. He conceded this is an extremely innaccurate guess but this is used for their side of things.

    My dates remain the same.

My rushed exchange system got knocked out at the building table again tonight at 6pm. CANCELLED

Its the system that makes us doubt; I sit here wondering if, yet again another system will get cancelled.

We can have all the help in the world, it just doesnt matter though...

Wow. I truly believe absolutely everything they have said to every single one of us has been completely made up. Like I don't think it's malicious. I just think they're all totally clueless and are just making stuff up so that we will not cancel our orders. It's especially obvious with the call centre guys that they're stringing you along.

i wouldnt be suprised... if i were them i would string customers along with false promises rather than have them cancel =p. as long as i get a few days before school (31st of august) so i can do a clean install i'm content =)... sad how i had to reorder a week ago and i have a ESD of september 9th (based on my email confirmation for specs)

Yeah but it doesn't really encourage me to buy Dell again. String me along by upgrading my processor for free or giving me the extended warranty.. or even next day shipping or a free 20 dollar laptop bag. Give me SOMETHING for waiting two months for a $2000 laptop.

I think they know that, in the end, we are all early adopters who want the m1330 for a reason, meaning we're not likely to cancel no matter how long we have to wait.

    Geez another cancellation? That's crazy.

I need a laptop by the end of August. If I don't get one I'm in trouble. I decided that it wasn't worth the risk sticking with this machine. All of the flip-flopping with shipment dates, cancellation of orders; it was too much of a headache. I ended up cancelling and ordering a MBP.

I hope you guys get your machines on schedule though... this whole two months of waiting is crazy.

Back in the system same dates but...

yes...there is a very large display glass shortage so be prepared for lead times as a result.

This is my main issue with Dell Canada right now. They have completely forgotten what it means to keep a customer happy. I wrote a long e-mail to a Sales manager about this yesterday after they again lied to me about the delivery date. Every e-mail you send to them, all you get back are lies and excuses, never ever do they offer you something for sticking with them and being patient.

Likewise i would wish my m1330 would come but i think its quite reasonable. they're not TRYING to slow production; theres alot of orders to fill and the problems during manufacturing don't help. They're stringing us along (well if you want to see it that way) because they don't really have a choice. They give us estmiate dates and as long as they come before that date i feel its quite reasonable.

again i'm in the same boat and would wish my laptop to come sooner but i realize the demand, problems, and potential delay that would pursist a release a laptop of this status.

I work for high tech gadget manufacturing too. All of the above problem can be easily prevented if the company is not cutting corners everywhere.

Proper inventory management, proper manufacturing process, proper forecast. For a company as big as DELL, this should have been done! I guess they cut too many corners. sad.... So I can't be sympathetic for DELL, since this is poor management on their part.

hmm wrong sku but my order hasnt been cancelled. The rep told me estimate shipping date would be august 13th which is alot better than my estimate delivery date of sept. she said something about large orders being sent up weekly starting august and your orders coming about 3-4 weeks after order...

w.e as long as i get it before september :D

A company of Dell's caliber should be able to predict demand in a better way than having people wait over 2 months for their laptops. Or at least have the decency to admit that they messed up. Plus, they definately should not be lying to keep customers. If you mess up, you should be honest, and compensate customers.

i guess they never expected such a demand? they arent lying...

i think they admitted that there was a problem and that there would be delays but a delay doesnt always warrant compensation to the customers... if they compensated EVERYONE... yeah ><
