    Update!!!! Yea...

I just got off the phone with Edmonton and they believe they may have fixed the sku glitch; they are presently putting through a test order. The results will be known at 2pm today. They will not start things again until it is working properly so that no orders are lost through error.

If this is a success, all orders will be reenstated by them in the next 2-3 days.

REGARDING SHIPPING!!!! Canada has its own line regarding shipping and, dont quote me or my source on this, they expect most if not all orders to be well ahead of September shipping dates.

The first large shipment to arrive in Pickering is still scheduled for the end of this month. That would have been the earliest delivery date, regardless of what we were told, in any case.

    Hope this helps a bit.

ALL THIS TROUBLE AND INFORMATION SHARING AND NO REPS??? HELP ME PEOPLE!!! okok I just needed a good laugh...its been a long few days and my cell is going to cost over this.

2-3 (business) days from today? Arrgggg.. I hate being in limbo with no order number like this. :(

The thing that really bothers me is that if I hadn't phoned Dell myself, I'd have no clue what's going on right now. They haven't sent a single notification to tell me what's going on. Why do I have to learn about this from a forum? :(

Oh well.. yeah, I hope they start coming soon. I really need mine before it gets too late into August.

I agree totally... I just told my contact Dell they should be spitting me out a comp system complete as I am acting like the press guy for them.

Many of the phone reps are still in the dark. Would have it been so hard for them to update their CSR's as one has updated me???

My hopes are up in any case... We do know it is a computer glitch and Dell guarantees all orders will be properly redone...so....

I believe this exact thing happened a year ago with another line as well.

PS And this is it... until I see my Rep power pass the big '1', no more updates...nothing...nada...zippo. Nope...uhuh not one...not happenin I tell you.

My suggestion to the Dell manager for consumer laptops in North America at Round Rock to have someone in a knowledgeable position come here and post seems to have fallen on deaf ears. He forwarded it on to his VP but so far hasn't gotten back to me. I'll try pestering him again to see if there's any progress on that initiative. It might be time to lay back on the nice emails and give him a call...

I just sent an Email to Edmonton that says this,

"If I can make a suggestion to Dell in general however... Someone should put a email to all the CSR's explaining this situation and its expected resolve. There are dozens of sites where people are screaming because there is no knowledge as to why their orders have been cancelled.

Canada literally has thousands of M1330 buyers in the dark right now because there has been no information sharing down to the phone reps. The result of this?? Most are calling several times a day and sit by their computer looking for answers.

One forum thread I have read is up to 2000 comments!!! Can you believe this??

So in hindsite, its never too late to pass a note to the CSR's or to get an article out to Direct to Dell.com..."

    Great minds think alike!!!!

    LOL... gotcha....

I wish that they would have a Dell rep on this forum that would answer our questions/complaints (i.e. had real/accurate info). ISP's and VoIP's sometimes do that @ dslreports.com (even a few CEO's have dropped by there answering a few people's questions).

    meh....

I talked to my EPP representive and he said Dell is cancelling all Canadian m1330s that have the wrong LED sku. He also said the issue has not been fixed internally (supposed to be fixed by today), and then they can go ahead and re-order.

So just to verify, this is the part number that we want on our orders:

LCD and Camera Slim and Light White LED Display with VGA Webcam [320-5583]

    Is this correct?

Sorry but... initial testing on the new software was not good and techs will be working throughout the weekend on it.

This means no reorders will take place until Monday.

Im not impressed either but I trust what I am being told is the truth; it has been thusfar.

As I mentioned earlier, the explanation through Direct to Dell:

"Since last week's update and my subsequent correction, there are lots of customers like Ed, George Pharell, Francois and others who are asking me for updates on the status of the XPS M1330 notebook. I can confirm that we have started shipping systems. However, the process to ramp production has taken a bit longer than we expected. The reality is that due to the unique nature of some features of the notebook, we've had to work through some additional manufacturing processes.

The important point is that we are now building orders to ship to customers worldwide, and we will keep working to ship these notebooks as quickly as we can. I'll provide another update by mid-next week to give you a better idea for where we are in working through the backlog.

At this point, estimated ship dates for new orders is about four weeks. Like I mentioned in my previous post, some specific components like the thinner WLED display will add time to those estimated ship dates.

I know many of you have been waiting eagerly for your XPS M1330 notebooks, and we appreciate your business. We are working through details in real time and will look to provide updates when we have more details to share.

Thanks again for your patience, and stay tuned for a status update by mid-next week."

just havent really looked through NBR after i ordered my m1330... only came back on after i found out my order status was "canceled" -_-

if our date gets pushed back is there anyway we can get compensation in any form?

what about the decrease of the bluetooth price from 80 to 20?

i had an estimate date of end august... if it gets pushed back i'll hate dell since i need it for uni at waterloo ><

    BAH =/

btw if i get 4 gigs of ram (2x2g) my xpsm1330 wont be able to fully utilize it correct? would i be better off getting 4 gigs of ram anyways or 3 gigs(1g+2g)?

i'm planning to downgrade my ram to 1 gig instead of 2 and just add 3/4gigs of ram after... i doubt its going to slow my system any worse then it already has been...

My guess is the problem is related to the price decrease. I bet they got rid of the SKU that had Bluetooth at $80, after we all ordered Bluetooth at $80. Kaboom. Well it's gotta be more complicated than that.. or else they'd have fixed it. But it can't be a coincidence that Bluetooth drops in price while at the same time causing crazy complications in orders. I think someone screwed something up in the order system while implementing this price drop.

I just received an email from my contact who stated that there is no problem with the fingerprint reader. The problem relating to the LED is solved but the original problem of the bluetooth sku not being recognized is still occuring.

His email to me ends as such which I hope may assist some...

"We have received assurances that all the customers affect by the Bluetooth sku issue will have their orders built with a high priority. At this point, it’s a matter of just waiting. All prices are locked and all configurations are locked and will be honoured."

To this point, none of my cancellations have been re-enstated; I wait here.

PS I noticed that BT is no longer an option in ordering this system; I hope they get it all fixed quickly.

    I just received this info.

At present there are no systems moving (Canada) with respect to bluetooth issues within the laptop. As it doesnt affect the bluetooth card, it is believed to be a problem relating to the motherboard or a software issue.

They are hoping to have it corrected by Thurs or Friday at which time all systems will be once again moving..

    Sorry...I am just the messenger.

PS If you try and discuss this with CS Reps they will prob just shuffle you off as this isnt released information...

It is believed all will be put into a high priority sequence as soon as this is resolved to make the end month shipment...so....alls not dead yet.

This just means that people who have already ordered will get the benefit but for people like me who haven't ordered, this is a disadvantage because that just guarenteed a longer delay. I might just wait for Thurs/Friday so that they clear part of their shipment and get everything going first. While being stable, I'll start to order.

okay I just placed my order, the confirmation email that I got back said the sku for the LCD was 1 320-5591 SLIM LCD, BLK W/ CAMERA M1330, does this mean they will cancel my order as the sku is wrong for the LED display? Also the rep told me that it would be 2 to 3 weeks for delivery, do I believe him?

Uhhhhh... I just got of the phone with Dell and am supposed to be sworn to secrecy but...in an effort to keep you from creating more work for them....

Your information is correct now and all has been fixed. You will be getting the LED.

I cant say anything further with regards to the Cdn order status in the next day or so but Wahoooooooo!!!! Yes!!!!! Yippie!!!!

If you also ordered bluetooth I shouldnt but will tell you that has been fixed as well and your order should be forthcoming as expected without any troubles.

Since I cant say anything, I would guess there will be some sort of press release in the next day or so.

PS To the Dell guy who has been monitoring my forum so closely for the past few days, Dell should comp me...oh say a FP 2407 monitor (hint hint) for all the anger I diffused not to mention the amount of Dell clients you retained because of this thread.

Further, I never just broke my word in any way if you read this carefully; I did just save Dell yet more grief with a customer who wasnt sure.

Not according to the rep I just spoke to...

The guy who handles my order just told me the bluetooth issue was fixed today and that all orders are being processed today... AND THAT ALL ORDERS WILL BE FIFTEEN TO TWENTY BUSINESS DAYS FROM TODAY.

He would not budge. He told me he'd try to speed up the order but he only said that after I argued with him for a while. He didn't offer me anything. I finally just told him to give me his manager's number. The manager won't be available until tomorrow, though.

    This is absolutely ridiculous.

First off...they havent a clue as to your delivery. The only way you can understand delivery is by considering they come in loads, the first of which arrices at the beginning of the month.

You may or may not make that.

Secondly, they absolutely cannot speed up your shipping. We have only ship method unlike the US. Your laptop comes from the US on designated loads which arrive in Pickering.

So.....thats the way it goes for shipping.

    Flamenko,

so part number 1 320-5591 SLIM LCD, BLK W/ CAMERA M1330 = the LED screen? I have been on the phone for over an hour with Dell sales --> Customer Care --> Technical support to provide with assurances that my order is correct. I have asked what the part number for the regular LCD screen w/camera would be but no one can seem to provide that answer. So I am very skeptical and mentally exhausted following up with this. The people that I have been talking with have been helpful but they are just as lost.

If you ordered the LED and it says 5589/5591...thats what u will get.

LCD = CCTV in the descriptors and it is 5585 or 6 I think

and MattK...when did you place your order in? I was told all was fixed as of late yesterday afternoon so if you ordered yesterday morning....maybe you got nabbed.
