"Since last week's update and my subsequent correction, there are lots of customers like Ed, George Pharell, Francois and others who are asking me for updates on the status of the XPS M1330 notebook. I can confirm that we have started shipping systems. However, the process to ramp production has taken a bit longer than we expected. The reality is that due to the unique nature of some features of the notebook, we've had to work through some additional manufacturing processes.

The important point is that we are now building orders to ship to customers worldwide, and we will keep working to ship these notebooks as quickly as we can. I'll provide another update by mid-next week to give you a better idea for where we are in working through the backlog.

At this point, estimated ship dates for new orders is about four weeks. Like I mentioned in my previous post, some specific components like the thinner WLED display will add time to those estimated ship dates.

I know many of you have been waiting eagerly for your XPS M1330 notebooks, and we appreciate your business. We are working through details in real time and will look to provide updates when we have more details to share.

Thanks again for your patience, and stay tuned for a status update by mid-next week."

Firstly, if this is a new product, they really need to do many successful run before product launch. Not fixing the "manufacturing process" after you announced the product.

I can't seems to believe that because of unpredicted high demand they can't even ship machine for people that order the first day the computer was announced. There must be some broken supply chain somewhere that they don't want to admit. You would think they would stock enough for the first few day of order after announcement. Not!

Second, if they know about this problem and can't meet the expected ship date, they should have told us weeks earlier. My EDD is today, and yet it still says EDD 7/27, even though my status is still in the "Build Stage". All the CSR kept telling me it will ship on 7/27 everytime I contacted them. Really poor customer service.

I don't buy the whole "we didn't expect high demand" either. If this was true, more than 10 people would still have received their computers by now. Unless they expected less demand than 10 sold in a month. :p
And I agree with mepoh, be honest with your customers. If you are not going to be able to deliver by a certain date, then TELL the customer. Like I said to the manager in my letter, Dell has lost the definition of a customer, they seem to now believe that a customer is now someone who just sends them money for fun, instead of someone who is actually doing business with them.

As upset as I was yesterday, I wanna see if we are believing that at the end of next week after the first 'supposed' pallette hits the ground.

I wonder where all the initial shipments are and why we havent seen them yet. Is it possibly they are loaded or waiting to be loaded??

I havent a clue...But I trust what Im being told at this time.

After my cancellation last night I got a call first thing this morning from my contact. Hate to say it but I trusted in what he had to say.

Personally, I did expect a 2 month delay very least since production just started. I figured there would be all kinds of turns and twists.

I just hate the unknown...I can deal with the knowns very easily.

So should we trust your source that SKU: 320-5591 SLIM LCD, BLK W/ CAMERA M1330 is the LED w/camera? :)

This whole mess is a joke. I blame DELL but when I get the notebook that I ordered then this memory will fade.....

Yes. The sku issue was fixed. The reason my replacement was bumped was because the order was resubmitted before the 'exchange' sku's were refreshed.

The replacement systems have first priority which is why it was bumped so quickly. It is thrown out at the production table.

Yeah, see the whole unknowns and lies is what I have a problem with. If my laptop was going to be delayed two months, put that on the site before I ordered it. Or tell me after I ordered it. But they didn't tell me there'd be any delay. And then they kept giving me obviously false dates until finally just saying it's going to come at the end of August. If they had have been straightforward and honest from the beginning, I wouldn't be quite as mad.

Oh yeah and the latest thing is the rep phoned my house to tell me to stop calling them, even though I haven't called since we last spoke. He seems to think I've been repeatedly calling the number over the last day or two... I only called once yesterday when he asked me to call and verify my order! I don't know if he even knows who I am. One time he actually thought I was someone else and excitedly thought he had memorised my order number. lol

    alot of unfulfilled Canadian orders???

Im asking as I spoke with someone earlier who also has been through a number of cancellations such as myself. Im concerned with the orders that stretch mostly from late June and early July.

Myself, I still have mid-August shipping dates for all and have been subject to a number of cancellations.
