Same here, you ordered 9 days before me so it sounds like you'll get your 1520 before me. I just can't wait, right now i'm using the "family" desktop and it sux.

Yeah, but I still won't get mine until Monday... And I'm worried because I changed the shipping address the other day and right now, it says the old one... :( This is just a bad experience..

Thundercat, your configuration looks the same as mine and I ordered the same day, but am still in build. ? Your 160 Gb drive is it the 5400 rpm or 7200 rpm. I ordered the 7.2K version.

Anybody planning on trying to fire up some Linux on your machines. I've worked on unix based machines for the last 15 years and recently a few Linux (Madriva) workstations but never as a an admin. I'm gonna give a shot at putting Ubuntu on, whenever I get my machine. Hell, maybe by the time my lappy is in hand a stable version of gutsy will be out that will have the drivers to handle all the hardware on these 1520's.

    My conspiracy theory:

Dell was offering such good deals on a high powered machine that they put the brakes on production to get people to cancel before they lost so much money. Be patient it will be worth it.

And not to be an a$$ 2, I configured a pretty nice setup that came out to a little over $1600. My company has a program that will reimburse me $750 for computer purchase and I will get another $500 back through a similar program at my wifes company. After taxes, i'm looking at a little over $450 out of pocket.

You should check out this thread here. They've got a majority of the hardware on the 1520 working with Feisty Fawn.

I really shouldn't stay up until 2 AM. Just noticed you said, "Hell, maybe by the time my lappy is in hand a stable version of gutsy will be out that will have the drivers to handle all the hardware on these 1520's."

Ahhh 2 am, its only 11, I'm a left coaster. Thanks for the link. I had been scrolling around on the Ubuntu site a week ago but had not seen that one.

I put in close to 65 hours this week, and need to go in tomorrow for a few. Pounded down a few brews this evening, so I am outa here.

The boxing stage is more than just putting your computer in the box. They also fly it over the ocean during this time.

WOW this thread really died! Anyways for anyone whose reading this... I just got off the phone with DHL whose handling my lappie and currently it just left Orlando FL which is about 3 hours from my house in Fort Myers FL. Instead of the laptop going from Orlando to my house, its going to go from Orlando to FREAKIN OHIO!!!!! Simple question: WHY??!?!?!! Also another thing is that the "Next Day Shipping" that dell offers so freely doesn't exsist. I was promised next day but instead on DHL Ground Express and it could take 1-6 business days to get here. F*CK DELL!!!

I guess this club is losing members since a lot of midnight blues are finally shipping. Are you serious about that Thunder? Why is the right question. What did the DHL reps say? Mine is currently in Virginia Beach, like an hour away from my house and twenty minutes from my dorm. I hope it gets to my house before 11 or 12. That way my mom can bring it up to me and I can start getting my operating systems installed.

As I stated earlier in some other post, I actually got the next day delivery I was promised many moons ago. Maybe the DHL tracker had the wrong information because mine went from Nashville, where the airport is, to Ohio.

i'm surprise it's taking dhl this long to ship your laptop. i haven't been able to go on the forum during the last few days since this 1520 was pretty buggy. a fresh install solved that and as for the screen, it's a generic monitor. and the graphic card says gddr3 but i'm not sure if it's detecting it incorrectly since i'm using a forceware. and it is build in maylsia

Its all goood, my lappie will be here today and is scheduled for delievery by today according to the automated delievery status. The rep I spoke to last night just scared me cuz she said more than likely it was going to ohio but luckily she was wrong.

Well my laptop was attepted to be delievered but I wasn't here and at class. DAMNIT! Oh well, so close yet so far away. Anyways I called DHL and they got in contact with the driver , he said he will make another attempt between noon and 12:30. One good thing is I got the notebook carrying case and the bluetooth mouse!! Thats definetly a good sign.

I GOT MY LAPTOP!!!!!! ITS AWESOME!!! But I can't use it right now cuz McAfee and Windows and updated so I'm using that time to let everyone know that I recieved it at 12:08est. The finish is beautiful with no flaws that i can see and I looked it over very good.

You and I have nearly the exact same build, except the processor, but I ordered the day before you and mine is still in build stage. What's up with that? Oh well, when they delay me again this is just more reasoning for upping my compensation.

BTW I bet it says Wilmington, OH on the tracking status. I work right next to the DHL hub here....everyone's laptops are being shipped over my head, but none of those planes has mine in it. :(

No chase840, ordered almost a week before you and still in build stage.
Was suppose to get Email and phone call today from CSR about status, but guess what, nothing, nada. i am on third delay, and have only been updated to next buisness day. about time to ask for more.

Well tomorrow is supposed to be shipping day for me but when I checked this morning it was still in Build. I haven't received the "You have been delayed" phone call / email yet but I am expecting that tomorrow. If that happens then chances are I will have a Sager ordered by the end of the week and will cancel this order.

Given the people who have posted their order and reception dates, the waiting time for the Blue generally seems to be most commonly around 40-45 days from the date you order:

    Retap1 (Blue 1520) (7/3 - 8/17 - 45 Days)
    Pgornick (Blue 1520) (7/13 - 8/27 - 45 Days)
    Enat66 (Blue 1520) (7/13 - 8/27 - 45 Days)
    Playloud (Blue 1520) (7/14 - 8/27 - 44 Days)
    Lordofericstan (Blue 1520) (7/6 - 8/18 - 43 Days)
    Shmudogg (Blue 1520) (7/10 - 8/20 - 41 Days)
    2Explore IT (Blue 1520) (7/14 - 8/24 - 41 Days)
    Mtylerjr (Blue 1520) (7/7 - 8/16 - 40 Days)
    Dominos73 (Blue 1520) (7/6 - 8/15 - 40 Days)
    Shellster (Blue 1520) (7/5 - 8/14 - 40 Days)
    DJMD713 (Blue 1520) (7/1- 8/9 - 39 Days)
    Pragun (Blue 1520) (7/9 - 8/15 - 37 Days)
    ErikW (Blue 1520) (7/8 - 8/14 - 37 Days)
    Carldaru (Blue 1520) (7/13 - 8/17 - 35 Days)
    KiLo G (Blue 1520) (7/15 - 8/15 - 31 Days)
    Ant1029 (Blue 1520) (6/28 - 7/12 - 14 Days)

Ant1029 is the lone exception, up there, and he ordered so early, it got out before the delays.

Wow, so I only ordered mine 4 days ago and from what I've read on here if I really want a 1520 right now I'm just going to have to wait. With that said when I checked the status of my order today Dell has upgraded me from ground to next day for free and without even asking. Woohoo!!!!

Not that I want to start the process over again (already cancelled order with dell twice cause of price changes) but the same exact lappie I bought is now $102 USD cheaper than just 4 days ago when I purchased it. WTF Dell, to many price changes!!!!!
