1520 Jet Black Waiting Room

Woot... Boxing finally! Though I did worry a little last night. I called and it was in kiting, and then 4-5 hours later I called again and it was back in build . But meh.. Oh well... Time to start REALLY waiting.

 

I just got mine a little while ago and am loading it up with software now.
So shiny! I'll have to get used to this.

 

First thing I did was reformat. So painful having to wait an extra hour after the DHL man showed up to really play with it. Enjoy it Steamy!

 

Exactly! It's going to be a while before I can really play with it.
Darned WORK getting in the way AGAIN.

At least I work out of my house and my husband is telling me we'll have to get rid of some of these computers. It's starting to look like a computer museum in here...

Hopefully I'll get mine shipped soon. The Dell rep I talked to said theres a delay on the screens. :S

 

looks like they give everyone about 15-17 days of ESD so when it arrives before that you get really excited and buy from dell again

 

Haha, I wish. Hearing all the complains and delays on this board makes me want to avoid buying from Dell again.

My Inspiron just came in, I'm typing on it as we speak No graininess, no real problems. The only complaint is the headphone noise which is there and quite noticeable.

EDIT: BTW, the screen is a LPLDF00.

Do you see any backlight bleed problem?? You can notice it on window startup.

 

that happened to me when I ordered my midnight blue 1520, they really suck at fulfilling the delivery date before the ESD's for customers

 

i ask the guy why in chat. his answer "the lead time is higher".

what does that mean?

he never once offered to do anything for me

 

There is a little bit of bleed during startup but it is barely noticeable and doesn't affect use. The only time I noticed it was during Vista start-up.

guess i can join the waiting room now lol... i had 2 vostros in my hand and back both went.. swaped some things around went to a better screen and hope this was all worth it

 

So... My 1520 went into boxing yesterday morning, and my ESD is today. Is there even a small chance that it could get shipped today? Or can I safely assume I'm going to be delayed?

 

i'd say yes. you never know. and you'll probably recieve it monday

I got 3/5 day shipping, so I'm guarenteed to be in school without a laptop for a bit.

yes, a couple possible reasons
-1280x800 screen
-intel g wireless card

also i have read that the boxing stage is usually about 3-4 days.
this is where the system is gets packaged and shipped to whichever country you're in and then goes to a warehouse to be supplemented with the proper accessories.
i have quite a bit to go lol

im leaving for college on the 7th so I'm praying to get this baby sooner.

 

The online thing to check your status doesn't even work for me and i ordered it on saturday!!! I call dell support and they say they have nothing to do with online status updates... then who does??? lmao... i guess even their status updates are delayed!!! Mine will hopefully arrive on september 6th, there better be no delays or else...

 

i have the exact same specs too. and my esd was 8/22, now 8/29

 

is there another place to go for order status? mine says "In Production" as opposed to "building" as some users have said. Is this just a difference in terminology on the users part or is there really a different site that will use different terms?

Well I've only ordered mine a few days ago, but hopefully I won't have to wait like some of you have. I can't wait to get it though, I want to see some of my games with better graphics and running a lot better!

either it shipped really late or there was a delay in the status changing cause i checked around 7pm central and it was still in boxing, but i decided to just check again and its shipped!

i just woke up and checked and the annoying automated lady on the phone told me it's still in boxing. i guess boxing takes a minimum of 3 days.

i will be back later tonight, keep your fingers crossed!
