Mine finally shipped. Still says tracking info isn't available and it is in transit to the carrier. Not sure how long this phase takes (anyone know?). I'm hoping I get it tomorrow since I have next business day shipping, but should get it Wednesday at the latest! Finally, the wait is over!

Just got my tracking info! Is DHL EXPRESS GROUND regular shipping or what?

 

The Dell website says EXPRESS GROUND but when I went to DHL it has shipping air ,next day by 3PM

 

How did you get your tracking?
I just checked the website and still says "Data Temporarily Unavailable". Boo.

Yeah they called me up last week and told me my order was delayed because of the color. I finally had to cancel my order and went ahead and bought a macbook pro at the apple store.

 

but how much did you pay for that macbook

 

With the student discount, I got it for just over 1800 with a free ipod. It's expensive, but it packs a punch. I just like the fact that it can run vista and has gddr3 video ram.

 

What sucks is that you have to pay extra to get Vista on a Mac.

 

Yes, thats the only thing...but it's so worth it. Plus, you dont need to go out and find all the drivers for everything in the mac; Apple provides them for you.

I got ground, it took about one day, whats weird is that I got my tracking number and then sometime it says it temp. unavailable.

But the tracking info at first is inaccurate, the date you receive is usually much sooner then they said just look at the state it is in.

Hopefully it does not past your location and go to the wrong facility like mine

Received my inspiron 1520 today. Everything is perfect so far except the light bleed on the bottom of the screen. It doesn't bother me so much to interfere what I'm doing but is it normal to have a light bleed? NO graininess and no audio interference whatsoever and I'm very happy about that!

 

last night, i talked to a rep and they reassured me NOTHING was holding up my notebook. And told me it would ship on or before 8/22. Do they not realize it's already 8/21? He said "when it ships on 8/22, I should recieve it on 8/24." it's still in production

Or maybe they figured out some way to enter boxing and have it shipped the next day...

 

Just talked to a Dell rep we have at work, and my machine hasn't been built yet due to a shortage of non glossy screens.

 

Got mine yesterday but took 24 hours to figure out why my computer couldn't get on the net. Stupid school network.

 

Received My laptop yesterday.

1. Hard disk has a strange click noise even when idle.
2. audio interference with headphone.

Getting a replacement machine... another wait

 

Well, I am ordered as of 8-17 with an ESD of 9-13. We shall see!!!

 

Mine delivered about an hour ago, no issues so far, looks solid. Screen looks as good as the one on my Thinkpad.

EZRico's right, mine sat in Build until all in one day it was kitted/built/boxed and then shipped soon after. It did nothing but waste my time to constantly call that 800 line for status. Though I do admit I got a thrill when it finally started moving after calling it for over 2 weeks.

I'll be getting mine today and it's arriving on the day the system said it would be shipped. So I guess you can't really say it was ever delayed, except in MY mind because I always expected it to ship immediately. Good luck to you all. Thanks for listening to me grouse and cheer!

 

Just reporting that I got mine yesterday. I ordered 8/5, was in build stage from 8/6-8/18. Boxing from 8/18-8/20. Shipped 8/20, received 8/21. I like it so far...didn't get a whole lot of time to mess with it. Vista is a bit overwhelming at first. I got the ultra high resolution screen and it is going to take a little of time to get used to. The text on the screen is very very small...maybe I'm just getting too old. When I change the resolution to something lower, it doesn't look as sharp. I'll get used to it eventually. Today after work, I'm hoping to dive into it much deeper! I do know that the initial boot up took forever, but now it is booting lightning fast! So far, I give it an 8 out of 10. Good luck to the rest of you!

You can have your cake and eat it too with the high res screen. Go to Display Properties/Settings/Advanced and change the DPI setting from the default 96 to something larger. I bumped it up 10%, I do it in custom and move it to about 106 because I think 120 is too large. . Now all your text/fonts/Icons will be slightly larger.
