Thanks for the link!
Those look different, but cool.

its probably not that lively since most consider the adamo to be way overpriced for the internals so they steer away.
quite frankly it is but the design is very unique. i have yet to play with mine but i have high hopes that it won't leave me disappointed. if it arrives with no defects ill be bumping up the warranty and enjoying it for quite some time.
now that i've sent back all of the M15x's my current portable is a wind netbook. its nearly good enough for couch surfing and the like so im thinking the adamo will more than suit my needs. -
I hear ya with the M15x - I had one of the very first ones and was really disappointed. Maybe I was too harsh comparing it to the M17x but it felt really cheap in comparison.
The Adamo, on the other hand, was pure engineering genius. As long as you keep expectations real on what it can and can't do, you'll like it -
I'm not sure if it will fit my Adamo, but I just ordered a manilla-envelope sleeve designed for the MacBook Air:
http://manillamac.com/
It's pretty unique and cost $40.95 shipped. I'll report back here if it ends up working well for me. -
I'd also like to share my experiences with outputting HDMI using the Adamo's DisplayPort. To do it, I purchased a 10ft DisplayPort to HDMI cable from Monoprice for $13.58 shipped:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10246&cs_id=1024607&p_id=6012&seq=1&format=2
The build quality of the cable is nice (gold plated connectors, thick 28AWG wire, and a white plastic jacket), and I hooked it up between my Adamo 13 and Sony 37XBR6 LCD television.
Immediately after connecting the laptop to the TV, the DisplayPort realizes it's connected via HDMI and outputs picture to the display. Additionally, it switches the audio settings to "HDMI Audio" and sends sound via the HDMI port, too. You can tweak the picture settings even further (display resolution, cloning/dual display mode, etc) by right-clicking the desktop and selecting "Graphics Properties..." to launch the Intel Graphic & Media Control Panel.
For watching a movie in 1080p on the TV, the image quality is excellent and the audio sounds great as well. My only complaint is that the HDMI Audio chipset only supports 2.0 channel output, so there isn't any ability for 5.1 and 7.1 output via HDMI from DVD or Blu-ray sources.
To summarize, a DisplayPort to HDMI cable offers seamless video and audio output to any HDTV while using just one wire. -
time to call and check again! -
Yeah, thanks for the info, DJ (fellow PA member )
And some +rep to turn ya green -
Woohoo I think I will be purchasing a DP to HDMI then!
and I seriously lol'ed when I saw the manilla envelope case, that is awesome! -
Dang.
Mine is still in production - build, no boxing yet. And my order has been expedited.
When I ordered the other 2 Adamo's a couple of months back they came quick. -
still in "build" as well. BLEH.
-
Something isn't right, but this time of year anything could be holding these up.
-
Wo0ot shipped! Get's here supposedly tomorrow!
-
Congrats!!!
Although, you already have one to play with, so BA-HUMBUG! hahahah -
lilyang
Please post here what fw your samsung ssd is running when you get your new system.
Just want to see if Dell is sending out TRIM fw now
Thx!!! -
Sure if you let me know how to check I will let you know tomorrow -
you're a poopy-head!
grats on getting yours, can i come see it?
are they even offering trim yet? -
Hmm damn... Dell says estimated delivery today but Fedex says tomorrow now
-
Sorry to hear.
To check the firmware, go to Device Manager --> Disk Drives --> (select the SSD)
Next, got to the Details Tab, then select Hardware Ids from the dropdown.
Your fw will listed as VBM19D1Q or VBM19C1Q (the latter is what you want but not sure if Dell is updating these yet). -
@sleey0
Thanks for the props. I checked the firmware for the my 256GB SSD drive-- it's VBM23D1Q
@lilyang
Glad you like the manilla envelope case. I just hope that it fits! -
Interesting.
I wish I knew if that fw supports TRIM. -
http://release.crystaldew.info/CrystalDiskMarkSetup
thanks! -
@shadowarachh
Looks like TRIM support is a no-go on the Samsung SSD. Let's hope they release a firmware update to enable it in the future.
BTW, is the random read/write performance supposed to be so abysmal? -
repped!
wel that answers that. hopefully they will get it done. personally ill survive either way. the worst SSD is still leagues faster than a conventional HDD.
here are my raid 0 raptors for comparison
also kudos for noticing i gave you the wrong link -
I am really not happy about that.
Relying on Dell for a fw update is like wishing to win the lotto - ain't gonna happen. -
yeah. lets hope someone figures out how to use the corsair flash with the dell drives!
-
Yep.
I have been trying, but no luck (yet ) -
-
The D just denotes that the drive is Dell OEM, while the C is for Corsair.

Just wanted to say that I cancelled my order as they are having delays.
Now that I said that, I must add that I am also waiting until next month when the i7/i5 UM's comes out - now THAT would be an awesome setup for the Adamo -
if they freakin update the adamo next month i'm going to be upset! i'm also going to be buying it
did you call and they told you about specific delays or you just were tired of waiting? when i checked today it was still in "build" but scheduled to ship on monday. -
Yeah, I was informed that there are delays with lots of things, the one affecting the Adamo's are the Intel 5300 cards.
I can hold out for 3 more weeks just to make things interesting -
So like I said in the other thread my adamo got here yesterday..
I was very happy when I opened it and I saw it was in the nice plastic case and it was a brand new model aside from this strange coincidence that there is a small nick on the top right of the lid identical to my previous model.. strange
anyway my FW on my ssd is VBM24D1Q so if that helps at all! -
well thats a new one. have you tried crystal disk info yet to check for the trim command?
-
They must crank out new fw every month for these drives. Sheesh.
I just want 1 fw with TRIM. IS that too much to ask? -
If I was buying now (adamo) I'd certainly wait for the new ULV's - although it could be a few month's wait.
Right now I am going forwards and back on the XPS. Do I, don't I... aaargh. The Tosh will, functionally, probably grind it into dust but I've had a somewhat ambivalent relationship with the capable-yet-dead-boring R600. -
I would still wait for CES no matter what.
Think about it - it's only a few weeks away. Then you can make a much more informed decision.
I am waiting 10000%
It's not even close - an Adamo with an i5 that has the same TDP (or better) than the current weak-sauce CULV's? No brainer. Not only that, but also the improved graphics and better battery life.
Oh, and even if you order the XPS now, you won't see it until the end of January at the earliest anyway. -
well, the way my order is seeming it won't matter anyways. by the time it gets here i'll still be within my return window.
as of today its sill in "build" but the EDD is 2 days away. i don't think it will be through build and boxing by tomorrow personally. -
No it won't get shipped in time.
Boxing takes at least 3 days or so. -
you were right. i got a vague "maybe they are waiting on parts" excuse and a promise of a call back that i don't expect to receive.
looks like by the time it gets here i'll still be in the return window if they refresh it :/ -
Yep.
That is a good way to look at it, really. -
jsut something slightly adamo related to keep the thread breathing.
http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/23/motorola-droid-and-dell-adamo-latest-to-get-gorilla-glass/ -
So when I punch my Adamo's screen in anger, I won't break it
-
Wow couldn't resist the adamo deal at the microsoft store. Almost like 25% off.
-
i just looked and they don't have the desire
its a smokin deal though for the admire. -
It's got the old 1.2, though.
With my 21% EPP discount, I can get it for about the same -
-
it bow seems that the phone number for order status is dead. anyone have any idea whats up?
-
I just did the phone status and it worked ok for me.
Which number are you using? -
800-283-2210
maybe it was down or something?
