Sorry for asking this again...

Could someone please tell me whether their G1s keyboard has a problem when more than 2 keys are pressed at the same time?

For instance:
left arrow + low arrow + CTRL (or SPACE)

I was wondering.. I have the G1S with 2GB of memory right now. Would adding an extra gig give it a considerable performance boost worth the 100 bucks? And would I be able to run dual channel memory using a 1 GB card and a 2 GB card of different brands?

Ah that would not be correct a 1gig with a 2gig will still allow dual channel for the first 2 gigs of memory.
And yes it is the sweet spot for speed increase (at least it was for mine G2S) .
Ken from gentech was also reporting significant performace increases with the 1 + 2 combo
But DO NOT go to 2 +2 gig unless you also go to a 64 bit OS or the speed DECREASE is even more significant
Also don't bother with Turbo mem as it provides nothing that I could see

2Gb is more than enough for my needs, this computer is already so sweet. Who needs a 3Gb when you got 2Gb??? lol

 

Hi Guys,

I am having a problem when I restart the computer from Hibernate. It shows the restarting screen and graphic, then the screen goes black and I have to do a restart. Has anyone else experienced this and if so is there a fix?

 

Hi. I've done a lot of research lately and have decided that a G1S - A1 is the laptop for me. I will be ordering it off newegg.com next week after a student loan comes through. My college offers Vista Ultimate 32bit for free along with Office 07.

My goal is to be able to dual boot vista ultimate and xp without losing features such as webcam/ green lights/ ect.

My question is what is the best way to go about dual booting both of these.

how much free hard drive space is there out of the box?

guy's guys i want 3 gigs of ram which stick should i buy off new egg? am i going to still have dual channel mode if i replace a a stick with a 2 gig?

 

I did a reinstall with the original graphics drivers and it resumed from hibernate okay. The problem is occurs when I install the Nvidea 16501 drivers. Does anyone else use the hibernate function and if so what drivers are you using.

Is there a place to get a replacement keyboard? I hate how worn down mine is becoming >.>

Also the 165.01 drivers are old, perform poorly, etc.... look at the date of them.
163.44 works fine for me

hello,
going to book my G1S tmrw...will get it in 3-4 days....doing an after market upgrade to a 7200 rpm drive and 2 GB RAM.....couple of questions....gonna take out vista and load XP.....will there be any problems? am using it to visual jockey on, freelance design work and video editing....has anyone experienced any problems after loading XP generally? or more specifically with the graphic card or the video out?

Quite the opposite, r8d. Graphics performance is significantly better for me in XP.

 

hey guys, I have an internet connection problem and if you guys could help me that would be great (and yes, I am a G1S owner).I can connect to the internet sometimes , but sometimes it just doesn't connect. When is doesn't connect, it says that it is connected to the router but has no access to the internet (the wireless console says limited connection). Does anyone know whats up with that. Could it also be that my router is set to only allow two computers to use wireless and if there is a third, it will be disabled? or is it something else. Another thing is that sometimes it connects to the internet on start-up but after some time (varies) it just loses it and becomes limited connectivity.

Recently when I put my mouse over the battery icon in the system tray, the battery is stuck at "98% available (plugged in, not charging)." It stays like that even if the computer has been plugged in for several hours. Any ideas why its doing that?

i have an Asus G1s an my memory card reader isn't working!!! I put a compatible and 100% working SD card i it and it doesn't show up in the My computer screen... when I go to the device manager it writes for the card this: SD Memory Card: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

another not such a big problem:

when i press the media buttons under the touchpad for windows media player, i for example want to switch to next song, the windows media player start flashing and blinking, so i have to click on it and close it again to get rid of the blinking...it is quite annoying

what GPU drivers would you recommend me ?

i remember i've read something about adjusting the display and it wasn't with splendid, could someone write me how to do it, to have the best viewing results ???

how to get the most of the battery life ??? is there some way how to underclock the cpu and GPU ? what programs should i use to do it ? and how ? what ele except turning the brightness and wifi down ?

I was wondering, is there a way to set the small display screen on the g1s to display the name of a track playing?

Oh, and what exactly does the Power button below the touchpad do?

 

i'm not sure if you can do the track thing, but for MSN, it flashes and has a username scrolling across. You can access it by clicking on the direct console on your bottome right toolbar thing. And the power button under the touchpad turns the computer on (without the gaming sound) and after bootup, opens up a media centre, where you can play music, movies, etc. check it out yourself

 

alrigh thanks.. yea the reason i asked abt the display thing is because the names of ppl IM'ing me show on it.. so i thought why not the tracks...

Hello.

I am a new G1S-A1 owner (standard configuration except 1x2048 MB RAM module instead of 2x1024 MB). I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to answer a few questions:

1. I have a problem with resuming from Hibernate / Sleep state. In the case of Hibernate, it boots normally (I have disabled the Asus graphic - it boots properly with device listing and so on, and no POST sound) and gets to the "Resuming Windows" stage. After this, the screen goes blank/black, and nothing further occurs. The HDD light continues to blink on and off.

Similarly, in resumption from Sleep state, it achieves this blank/black screen, with HDD light blinking and no further response. I have installed the v 165 modded driver from laptopvideo2go, and am considering a rollback to the manufacturer supplied version. I was wondering if I was the only person suffering from this problem.

In addition, I suffer from sporadic driver crashes (Windows Vista reports a graphics driver crash) while playing Command and Conquer 3, so it appears there is at least some sort of problem with the driver.

2. I am quite new to Windows Vista. Upon login to my desktop, there is a lot of continuous HDD activity - I would like to know if this is normal.

3. Does anyone have any tips on customisation of the MX 518 mouse - for example, getting the advanced game settings to run/recognise Counter-Strike v1.6?

4. Is anyone aware of any third party having hacked the little OLED driver to do anything more than what Asus ships it to do (i.e. MSN, time, email etc) ?

5. As a general rule, does anyone find the LCD screen to be a bit over-bright? As in, to accentuate the greys a bit too much in video (I say this despite having lowered the brightness).

hey ive got a question about the g1s, is the fan really loud when just doing word processing or surfing the net in a classroom, or is it quiet

the G1s is fairly quiet when doing basic stuff, word processing, AIM, surfing the internet, etc.

currently i have aim, firefox, winamp, and a downloading program running, and it's not making any noise at all.
