Well, to save you the trouble of contacting one site, PowerNotebooks' Donald Stratton sent me an email...

All of our stock is allocated to existing orders, with the exception of two that were built with Intel i7-820QM processors, and the customers canceled due to unfortunate family issues.
Would you be interested in one of them?
If not, we have either shipped or are building all of our orders through March 4th, so our line for the next shipment is very short.
The next shipment is expected around April 5th.

I believe Excalibur's ETA is April 5th (although I do not know how many are already pre-ordered) so I really don't see any being a "wrong" choice to pre-order.

Mine is here, trying to decide I want to do with all of the pre-installed applications. I have BF:BC2 sitting here and I haven't installed it. This process is going a lot slower than expected for me (not the machine).

I have completed the 6 recovery DVDs (which took over two hours, because I kept walking away from it), and installed Comodo IS. After de-installing the trial version of MS Office and installing my own copy I am having these temps.

More information to come. I want to benchmark and uninstall bloatware, but I also want to just install BF:BC2 and say see you guys tomorrow :p .

My keyboard has a tiny flex in the middle, honestly I can see myself eventually liking it.

Let me "stress" the system and see what happens. I will report back.

Ordered my A1 on 3/18 from PC Canada.

    Order shipped TODAY - 3/23.

Scheduled to arrive within 24 hours on 3/24 via UPS.

UPS has the package at it's distribution centre right now!!!

Can't wait - better not miss the delivery somehow!

BTW - service at PC Canada was AWESOME... Also ordered the 3rd year LOCAL warranty with the machine.

Now I just need to wait for international shipping which is gonna take some days at least but it's on the way! It's really real! :p :)

Thanks a BUNCH to Ken and Gentech who were absolutely amazing through this entire ordeal!

This was the first time I have ever pre-ordered, and the wait just SUX lol! oh yeah I pre-ordered on January 9th! :)

So I may be leaving here in a few days ;)

Are there other owners who have had a problem with the speakers making a crazy loud crackling white noise sound just after exiting a game? Mine did this last night after playing some Dragon Age. It does it more frequently when I exit Crysis. I think it has to do with GPU temp. The max temp last night was 84C. This is my second G73 X1 and I really don't want to send it back again.

Any chance this is a software problem?

I too have ordered from Amazon. Originally I orderd the G73JH-A2 on March 8th, 2010. However, Amazon lowered their prices shortly thereafter, so I cancelled and placed an order for the G73JH-A1 on March 14, 2010.

I emailed customer support the other day, the representative basically said he doesn't know when the next shipment will arrive -- however, he went ahead and credited me $5 off on my next order from Amazon.

So, I'm into day 10 and counting. Maybe tomorrow? :)

    Hello, Mandrake, All

Tried to PM you; no contact info. So let's go public; I don't suppose you know where the rest of that document is; chapter 1, chapter 3, 4, 5... for the ASUS G73JH series notebook? Chapter 2, the teardown, is very useful, but I always get a service manual for just about anything I buy. Cars, appliances, new laptop; makes no difference

Tried contacting ASUS directly; after some squirming, they admitted that such a document exists, but that they "...do not release it to the public." Tried arguing that I'm not "the public," but a paying customer and as such am entitled to access... no go.

    Thanks for chapter two, anyway...

I'm almost 100% sure that's where I bought my Toshiba laptop from 3 years ago and they were very good. Only trouble was with the shipping, but it wasn't their fault and international shipping can always have its pains.

An example of this would be the keyboard I bought from Razer at the start of the month. After 3 weeks of waiting I decided to call (in the end it took 4 calls before getting anywhere, despite their promise of a callback) and they told me it was held in customs and would take another week. So basically for a measly keyboard to ship across the border it can take a month. Upsetting>>

In that case, it seems that no March A2 orders have been filled yet, which makes sense. Looks like pretty much every reseller is behind a month, which has been the case since January. Let's go April!

I've yet to post on any of the G73 threads, but decided I'd chime in since I got mine today. I ordered it from B&H on tuesday and it came about an hour ago, still in the box though (i've been busy). Hopefully its not as problem riddled as the W90s, which I had one of and sold. Even though my W90 never gave me serious issues, i'd rather not have to constantly be looking at the forums and internet to keep up to speed with any issues that keep popping up. Which i've seen more than a few people starting to have, hopefully mine won't be and i'll post when i find out (mines from China, for those who have been following all the threads).

I'm not sure if i will get a G73 with blue ray or with a dvd, I signed up which ever comes first. I also don't really care which one i get too much because i hardly ever use the disc drive anyways. No news yet. I don't plan to bug Ken again until april 1st.... that might not be a good day to get reliable info because i don't know if i will get an april fools or not.

Thanks for reminding me why I'm waiting for a reseller lol. Sure you can get lucky and find a retailer with stock and have it delivered in a week, but then you get to deal with Asus (read: longer wait time) if it goes bad.

It seems like PortableOne isn't getting the pub like the other well known resellers even though I became aware of them through these same forums. I switched from XoticPC to them a couple of weeks ago and expect to have my A2 shipped the end of this week (with Xotic so backed up, I would have been looking at a May or June ship). Having said that, this is my first purchase from PortableOne, but so far the communications with them have been great. I think Scott is the owner and he's replied to my emails which is a nice change from having mainly purchased computers from the giant resellers. They have a stellar BBB record and the reseller ratings are good. When they say they expect inventory they are dead on and seem to have a manageable customer base so orders get fulfilled much more quickly than other places. I'll post back after I get mine.

Yeah, tomorrow (3/30/2010, which is when Newegg (and possibly other retailers) estimates an arrival of a new shipment) I will be especially watching out for stock to pop up. I think the resellers (Gentech, Xotic, etc) expect the next shipment on April 5 (I know at least Xotic does, says so on their site) and I'm pretty sure that mine will not be contained in that shipment, especially since no orders from March have been fulfilled, unless that shipment is very large. In other words, yes, I am considering jumping ship (to a different seller, not computer), but I will be looking at my options carefully before making that decision.

Edit: Actually I've contradicted myself. What I mean to say is, after some thought, I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do. So feel free to ignore my previous post.

So you expect retailers to receive another shipment tomorrow? Too bad I can't find out how far down the backorder list I am on Amazon. Oh well back to checking the online order status.

I don't expect anything, because I don't know anything. I make and live off of estimates. I don't even expect shipments to come when resellers expect them to come. If it happens, great. But history has shown a tendency for Asus to continuously delay shipments. If I don't expect anything and nothing happens, I'm not disappointed. If I don't expect anything and something does happen, awesome, just made my day better.

Edit: Also in my previous post if I had been paying attention, I would have known that Newegg now actually shows the X1 in stock, a day before their ETA which again throws off my estimate. This is why I don't expect anything, I just take things as they come.
