I did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate and used the driver disk. Everything went fine and thank heavens some of the crap that came preinstalled wasn't on the driver disk (the games and the trialware of Office, for example). There is a nice list in the Asus forum of what all the Asus utilities are and whether or not they are needed.

Huzza! My G73-A1 was shipped yesterday by ExcaliburPC. The Ebay auction is about a month old so within my hopes/expectations. Two weeks shipping and customs to wait out until I can see if mine is sweet or sour

 

Update: Pre-ordered Jan 8, received email from GenTech Monday, remit payment so shipment isn't delayed. Sent payment via Paypal Tuesday, cleared Friday 9am EST, no word since. Don't know if I wasn't included in this shipment (Thur 3-11), under impression I was. Have seen others that have posted theirs have shipped from Gentech, I'm in the dark as to what happened here. Don't want to have to email again, sent/received enough. A little disappointed that I don't know where I stand again. An email stating, "shipping on (date)", "shipped but email delayed", something, some news is better than no news.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good place to order off which has reasonable UPS Shipping internationally (under $100US).

As the G73's may not come over to New Zealand at all, and if so will be super expensive, it makes sense to get one from North America.

So I walked out of this laptop deal, I ordered on Jan 03, 2010 and backed out 3 weeks ago and bougtht N61. Best decision I made, saved USD 700.
Turns out that laptop was just what I needed.

 

I ordered mine from ExcaliburPC via Ebay but the shipping was 139$ to Sweden. Don't know how much it is to England though if I remember where you were from correctly.

 

I have bought G73JH-A2 from Lu Computer on Ebay and to be deliever by UPS Today UK, I have paid just 95 CAD for shipping but my price has little more expensive then others, but who care, list I can have it now.

Ordered on the 7th of March from Excaliberpc. Was told it wasn't going to ship until the 4th of April...Canceled order on the 19th and ordered from NCIX on the 19th. Got tracking number a few hours later and will have it on the 22nd. Woot Woot!

Hi all,

I emailed and checked with Gentech and Ken told me that my A1 should ship out this tuesday! Ken also asked me if I would let them have 3 days for an intense review of the system before they send it out which i agreed to because i am overseas and would love to avoid any RMA business and stuff.

oh yea, I pre-ordered on January 9th.

Ken also said they received a lot more A2's than A1's in their recent batch, so maybe they got A2's for any who wish to switch. I decided to wait for the A1 cuz I just did lol.

So hopefully I will be switching lounges soon . Ken has been great this whole time, even when I have been frustrated with the wait, so props to you Ken and Gentech!

"Agony is" ....... I waited from Jan 5 to March 5 to receive my A1. It was so worth the wait. This baby is all you think it is.... and MORE. Hang in there guys.

 

got sick of waiting for sparco to get stock in, so just ordered one from B&H for $160 USD more.. ouch.. but will be worth it not having to wait weeks more !

 

Agony is having your laptop's video card blow, then get stolen a day later, then wait since Feb 20th till now without one, and having to wait for either work, or your roommate to take a nap in order to use a computer


EDIT: Agony is having the laptop RMA'd twice and having had the chance to see its awesomeness, to have it taken away from you. This has happened to a few in here.

 

Looks like pccanada.com just got an order a day early for the A1's. They were supposed to get 150 tomorrow yet their eta is unavailable and their backorders went down by 150

EDIT: I mailed them and they have confirmed it, they received a huge order today

 

Compared to this, I withdraw my definition of "Agony". RMA'd twice,stolen.!!! You deserve one that works, and quickly. Good luck.

 

Please god may that happen tomorrow . The store I bought it from it awaiting news on the supplier receiving their shipment. The supplier expects it either today or Thursday. Hopefully they follow suit with PCCanada and get a massive amount today lol

 

Well ty for the bestbuy tip . I was at work Sunday and after reading that bestbuy might have them in store, I went to the bb link and saw that my local bb store had it in stoke . So first thing i did Monday morning was to go see and yes they had 2. I'm writing this from my new g73. So the bb g73 is called the G73JH-RCNX09 would that be the same as the the A2?

aslo comes without a backpack or mice, no mouse is fine but i still can't find anything to fit it in

 

The best buy laptops have a lower resolution at 1600x900. This means you will have a bit worse screen, however higher FPS and more room to max settings out.

 

Well I'm new to this thread - I want to place my pre-order and get in line for the a2 like everyone else. I live in california (US), where should I place the order in order to receive the laptop to the soonest? It sounds like B&H has the shortest wait time?

 

Well Gentleman, I'm happy to say, as of 12:30pm EST Friday, I received the G73. It is...stunning, beautiful, sleek, fast and just WOW. I liken it to Salma Hayak in a sleek cocktail dress with a slit up the side, hair piled tight, and dancing the merengue till dawn. Then.... well use your imagination. Waited since Jan 8th, untill March 20, and so far, no disappointment, except lack of blu-ray software. Thanks to Ken at Gentech, again, awesome customer service, a new customer for life. Good luck everyone, hope you all receive yours soon too!!

However, this was placed when I received an e-mail notification saying they had the A-2's in stock. A few hours later, after placing my order, they were once again out of stock.

So basically, you can try using the "notify me when available" feature on B&H and you might get lucky as I did. good luck.

 

I ordered my G73JH from Amazon 3/18 and thought it would only be a couple days. After the weekend I started to look for info about the back orders and found this site. After reading through this string, I am feeling pretty down and out. I have only heard of 1 or 2 people who have ordered through Amazon. I did it for the o% financing and since they don't charge until it ships. Are there any others out there who have ordered from Amazon and if so how long did you wait? I am not excited to try and contact their customer support to ask about ETA. It is extremely unlikely that I would even reach someone who knows anything about the situation. Anyway, just wanted to say hi. I will be trolling by here for the extent of my wait.

By the way, as a suggestion, posters should consider adding the wait time in days to their signature. Just a thought.

What is B&H, is it located in U.S.? I might order from them if they have it in stock instead of waiting god knows how long for it.

 

It's a tech store in New York that, I believe, specializes more in cameras and what not. But after reading great reviews about their quick shipping, I quickly hopped on the deal to avoid waiting months as many others have.

I believe as of now they are both (A2, A1) are out of stock.
