I am sorry but we do not accept those forms of payment...BUT, we do have them in stock ready to build and ship, so if you can do Paypal or check, why couldn't you do a wire transfer?

I've ordered my A1 from Xotic PC and I think I am gonna have a bit of a wait to get one. I'm in Scotland and have arranged a wire transfer but my bank are a bit inept and after 2 weeks still haven't managed to get it set up right. They didn't seem to know how to do it, asking for a FedWire number which turned out to be an ABA Routing Number. I finally managed to get both account numbers, SWIFT number and ABA routing numbers to them so hopefully when I contact them tomorrow they will tell me it has gone for processing.

I'm hoping to have it for July at the very latest as I have some events I'm going to be needing it for.

For anyone else ordering internationally, I actually had a really good experience with Provantage!

I was expecting delays, as a couple of users here have had, but maybe I got lucky or it was faster as I got an A2 rather than A1. It shipped 2 days after I ordered it.

As well as their price being one of the lowest around, their international shipping is great. $110 US couriered via DHL to New Zealand (farther than Europe, 24 hours flying time!) took 3 days to arrive here from departing Utah.

Total cost was $1620 US including shipping. As some other companies are charging huge amounts for international shipping, might be a good option for some other overseas people waiting on here. Only downside is having to do a bank wire transfer, although what I did was get a friend in the US to pay for it on their credit card.

Good luck, I'm glad to be onto the owners lounge!

I paid GST (like VAT) of 12.5%, varies depending on where you are. If you phone customs in your country they'll tell you.

As the G73JH isn't being sold here it's still worth it. Around 30% under cost price of a similar, inferior laptop they do sell!

It was also well packaged from Provantage, triple boxed, so arrived unmaimed.

I faced the same problem as daer29. I had concluded from my research that powernotebooks is a reliable retailer, and i wanted to buy from them, but their sales correspondence was poor enough to make me conclude that i cannot expect them to respond adequately to my mails concerning servicing. And since i am an international buyer, email correspondence is important, so i dropped powernotebooks and went with another retailer. This is not to say that powernotebooks is a poor retailer. I'm sure they usually provide excellent service, the comments all over the internet cannot be wrong. But I dont know what went wrong in my case...

P.S. I wrote to [email protected] and had left queries on the customize page with no specific preference for sales advisor.

Hmm.. I'm not too sure what happen to you and Daer29. I did not get any response from them the first time I contacted them as well. But after I start contacted Donald everything is great. He is very helpful and patient and he replies email in a super quick speed. Just now I contact him via email and he replied me within 2 mins! It was really quick! It's a shame that you couldn't experience the services they give.

hmm interesting! well 12.5% really isn't that bad (i'm not sure what the % is in Thailand but I doubt its much higher)...that said, is that the only cost associated with importing a laptop? i thought the GST was in addition to say import tax or something?

    @Paladin44 / Donald Stratton

Hi - new to these forums, but I've been hugely impressed by your responses and other comments on your service. Would like to place an order ASAP for the G73JH-S1.
I would need delivery to the UK. Payment options on the site allow for Visa or Amex - can do either. Would you be able to support this?

    Thanks in advance

Well, TigerDirect has the A1 in stock again today, with 12% bing cashback, it runs $1699 + $8 shipping - $202 cashback, not a bad bargain, jump on it while it's still in stock...

Not any other charges over here.. as I said before though, just ask customs. Although from my dealings with officials in Thailand I expect it might be hard to get a straight answer :)

Well, let's tell the whole story here. On May 6th you placed two different orders within 30 minutes of each other, after business hours, leaving only your email address for contact information. No name, address, or phone number. These were not queries on the Customize page, you went through the Shopping Cart and the entire process to submit your specifications. They looked like prank orders and were ignored.

You then placed another order the next morning, using a different email address, with your name and address in India for Billing and a different name with a US address for Shipping. You received an email in response to this within 45 minutes. You never paid for your order.

I apologize if you found this inadequate, but with the amount of prank orders and fraud attempts that we receive everyday I hope that you can understand that these things can cut both ways.

Mr. Stratton, I agree that it was a naive thing for me to do, leave behind only my email address as my contact information. But you might want to dig deeper to find out that i did leave behind messages of queries that went unanswered. And i dont think you can question that as you have tried above. i've got messages in my inbox confirming that my query has been lodged, i can upload those mails if you wish.

i tried to cancel one of the two orders just a little while later but i found no option on the website to do so, and so i sent back an email informing you guys that i wish to cancel one of my orders and that i will update my information later, here is the mail:

    \\Begins here

Hey... I have placed an order for an Asus G73jh S1 and an G73jh A1. I'd like to inform you that i wish to withdraw my order for the S1 and go ahead with the A1. My mode of payment will be through wire transfer (billing address in India, shipping address in US), please let me know the details of the payment to be made. I shall update the billing and shipping address in a while...

    Thanks
    \\Ends here

this mail was sent to [email protected]

By morning i found out that the model was back in pre-order mode, so this time i placed an order with full information. i got a mail from tim confirming my order and saying orders will be filled in the order of payment, i mailed him back asking a question, which was not answered. here is the message:

    \\Begins here
"Rest assured though that all orders will be filled in the order in which payment was received, and we will get yours shipped just as soon as possible."

I cant be paying now because the person it is being shipped to will be unavailable post 25th of this month, so if the delivery date is pushed beyond that, i could possibly loose my money in form of a laptop.

I had planned to process payment once i get the message notifying me that the model is in stock, judging whether it would reach me before 25th. So does your message imply that if i dont pay now and someone pre-orders tomorrow and pays for it right away, i will be behind him in the queue?
    \\Ends here

You accuse me of not paying. I guess you'll understand now.

Do you really feel your replies have been adequate? And please take a less aggressive stand with me, i'm not trying to defame your company and hold no grudge against you....

well I have been here for a while so I get what you are saying lol

really though, customs here doesn't help much at all...they say something and yet when the actual time comes, they firmly charge whatever they feel like...so yeah, its a bit of a risk in all truth

An interesting find regarding memory supplied with the G73JH by ASUS. A while back ASUS were using 1333 speed memory, then went back to 1066 after supplies came back.

My G73JH shipped end of April, and was surprised to see that it has 1333mhz memory. Only checked today as expected the 1066.

Although it doesn't make a huge difference performance wise apparently, it is something to consider that if you get a stock g73JH you may get the fast memory for free, whereas if you order off a retailer that customizes them you may lose the fast memory if they swap it out before shipping.

Powernotebooks and Xotic PC both charge $220 US to supply an A1 with 1333mhz memory, so it's quite a score if you get it for free! I wonder if they would leave the fast memory in if it arrived with it?

I ordered a unit of Asus G73JH-A2 from GenTech PC on the same day they shipped out straight as I didn't do any customisation. Btw I'm from Malaysia and awaiting the unit to be shipped out from US as it's in the hands of USPS currently. So far everything is going smoothly and I highly recommend Ken Lee for assisting me with my doubts as he replies pm superbly quick. Do check him out "http://forum.notebookreview.com/member.php?u=34663"

Btw any members here bought laptops from US and shipped to Malaysia ? How long does it usually take ?
Update *my item is already shipped out of US LA port on the 22nd 11pm. Now awaiting it's arrival to Malaysia.

Hi guys, just to update I received my unit less that one week from ordering it. And I'm from Malaysia seriously fast and quick service by Ken Lee from Gentech PC if there's any rating I would be giving A++++++++ thumbs up for top notch service.

The true test of service is when things go wrong. I've had to rma twice (not Gentech's fault), and Ken has handled both of them with speed and quickness. I didn't have to even deal with ASUS on these he did it all and even picked up the shipping cost one way when asus didn't. You honestly can't go wrong when you order from Gentech.

to Paladin44 and P1Scott: as retailers and/or possibly ASP locations, can you get from Asus an updated vBIOS for the HD5870M? Asus themselves will not release them to the general public since they feel we'll mess things up and brick some hardware. This would really address some issues that have plagued a few G73 owners.

Sadly, if ASUS will not release a BIOS to the public, we are bound by the same policy.

However if you contact ASUS directly with your issue, and they have a BIOS that will fix it, they will either release it to you or issue an Return Merchandise Authorization with shipping instructions.

I am going to soon order a G73JH-A1 with the Blu-Ray and 8 GB of 1066, since this is somewhat the "Future Owners Lounge", I was wondering about some of these issues:

    - Can I update the BIOS, where must I go to, who must I contact?
    - Can I update the 5870's drivers from the ATI website.?
    - If not, I do have a OEM disc of Windows 7 HP 64 Bit in my hand, can I do a fresh install and then reinstall most useful drivers and still update the ATI?

    - Do I need a cooling pad like the Thermaltake CNL?

I think that is most of the questions, even if some of them seem old, the thread is TLDR(Too Long Didn't Read), and I don't know if all of these issues have been fixed.

This will also give me a better understanding since I might go for a M17x, by getting my mom to pay for half or even a 1/3 or 1/4 of that laptop.

I really need this laptop for 4 years of college and it is Networking Course, but I love to game.
    Thanks
    Ken
