They are now coming with the 209 BIOS so there is nothing to update.
You can try the ATi drivers from their website, but you would probably be better off staying with the certified drivers from the ASUS website.
Your HP OEM Windows 7 disk should not be used on an ASUS and may well not be able to load, or be activated. You would be better off buying the ASUS OS Recovery DVD for $15. It will give you a legal clean OS load without any bloatware, and then you can either use the driver CD that comes with it, or download all the latest drivers from ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support-
You won't need a cooler, the ASUS G73JH is amazingly cool and quiet even under stress.

Hi Ken -
see answers below...
- Can I update the BIOS, where must I go to, who must I contact? A: You will find the latest BIOS on ASUS's suppot website.
- Can I update the 5870's drivers from the ATI website.? A: You can, but we (and our customers) have had occasional issues with the latest VGA driver from ATI. In that case, we found reverting back to the last version fixed all issues. ATI may have released an updated version since then...
- If not, I do have a OEM disc of Windows 7 HP 64 Bit in my hand, can I do a fresh install and then reinstall most useful drivers and still update the ATI? A: This is possible to do, but I suggest burning a copy of the factory image first just in case you run into issues.
I hope this helps

Well i'm joining... 9 days till i order mine... hopefully no GSOD issues..
-
We do offer a service to test and inspect a G73JH order prior to shipping so once you receive it your odds of any issues is almost nill...
-
my g73jh idles at 80...forget about playing a game
i would steer clear, but if you get one i think a cooler + repaste is necessary. the thermals on this comp degrade a lot over time and fast. -
it seems the new G73's comming from Asus's factories don't have proper paste.. repasting is necssary.. but hopefully i don't have to do it myself after the reseller has already done it.
-
just be aware... as necessary as it may be, on a case by case basis, reapplying the paste will void the ASUS warranty... They almost always include a tamper proof sticker on the CPU - if its been removed you may be out of luck getting service from ASUS. Its a risk, but may not be avoidable... just something to consider
-
Kenster this link should be of much help if you go with a clean win 7 install

Kalim is the man! -
i'm really having second thoughts about G73 now with GSOD issues and everything.. i think its time i made a thread in what notebook to buy..
-
You ain't kidding, Sean! Now P1Scott just posted that the new G73's may actually require a re-pasting, BUT that this magical solution to some ills may void the warranty? Anyone else feel that Asus's up till not stellar reputation for quality and customer service should not be seriously questioned? Now I have no idea what Lappy to buy.
-
it seems the GSOD issue has been solved by Asus and new vBIOS should be comming out soon... so that's done.. anyways , as for repasting issue , idk as i was anyways going to have the reseller repaste mine.
-
That's a pretty broad statement. When and how was it "solved?"
I ask because I am still considering the G73. -
there are new 10.8 drivers comming out next week.. which work perfectly with the G73.. although its a temporary fix , the permenant one isn't being forgotten.. there is a new vBIOS too but its not stable with older drivers and BIOS so they're working on it.. so the problem is solved

Officially joining the group. Trying to order from gentech but crappy paypal isn't verifying my card till tomorrow so another day of wait.
-
Yes its ordered and since gentech was offering B1 only today , i had to get that! I hope they ship it quickly!
-
I'm even more depresssed.. Ken from gentech still hasn't contacted me and confirmed my order etc.
-
-
to all the other resellers, what is your expected ETA and estimated shipping date of the B1?
-
ASUS is telling us we'll have these between "any day now" and 1-2 weeks... If we have the opportunity, we usually pick these popular models up in person directly from ASUS (only 20 minutes away)
-
i didn't exactly get that.. are they stalling u or what?
-
no, its typical for a new product from any manufacturer. I'm looking at one status now that's showing an arrival date of 8/25. Our pre-orders are beginning to stack up...
-
Any updates? I'm one very depressed Asus Customer..
-
still showing for tomorrow... fingers crossed!
-
same here.. hopefully gentech gets stock too... if only paypal hurried up... their e-checque take too long... i hope it clears by friday.. i want mine my next week
-
Any updates? PC Canada already has stock... Xotic and Gentech, Do u have stock yet? Anyone any stock?
-
no updates from anyone? Does canada only have stock? ..
-
They must still be on the boat to the US or hung up in customs... we've seen the date at ASUS's warehouse roll back one day at a time... This is typical of new products coming to market, regardless of the manufacturer.

Why would anyone be willing to pay $100 more for a processor that only gives you 130MHz more clock speed when you already have 1,600~2,800MHz??
That is only 4.6~8% more clockspeed...measurable maybe but certainly nothing you can notice in real world application. -
I agree - its not that big of a bump, but the A1 is discontinued... although we do still have one left in stock... never the less, we do have a growing list of pre-orders for the B1.
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
We have plenty of ASUS G73JH-A1, ASUS G73JH-QM1 and ASUS G73JH-S1 in stock

The ASUS website is not accurate. When they brought the B1 into the US it was priced at $1,799 MSRP.
-
OMG.. the wait... brb...
-
Any updates while is depressingly wait?
-
We're right there with ya! ASUS has pushed the date back to "early September", but the warehouses are still showing a possibility for this week...
-
if i don't get it this week , i'm going to curse on asus's facebook page everyday.. gentech's saying they're going to get it tomorrow so i'll have a look then.. this is really evil of asus.. they released it first in canda instead of good ole USA...
-
FYI - The G73JH-B1 has arrived in the US! We've just been given our will call number to pick up our first allocation from ASUS tomorrow!
-
