wow that was fast! I ordered mine from XoticPC on 4/25 and last week when I sent an email to them they told me there's still 7-8 weeks of waiting... should I just switch to powernotebook instead?

 

Finally!!! It is out for delivery. I should have my brand new G73JH-A1 when I get home from work. Ordered March 18th from Amazon. I don't know what I want to do first with it.

 

From everything I've heard, XoticPC had a huge amount of pre-orders, so that would explain the 7-8 weeks of waiting. I'm not sure what powernotebooks waiting time is, but it probably isn't 2 months. Keep an eye on portableone.com, maybe they will get another shipment soon!!

I would call powernotebooks and ask them when they are expecting shipment and what the wait is like. They were very honest with me when I ordered and said there is a shipment on x date but we think you will be on the next shipment on y date. And it was so =)

 

Well after being on back order since 2/24/2010...I called provantage for once again another update and they told me the 9th of May...previously told me every other Friday since 2/24/2010 that it was expected to ship.

I canceled the order and called powernotebooks.com and they have G73JH-A1 still in stock and it ships today!!!

so I should be off this forum in the next couple of days because I took advantage of there free asus shipping and am only 2 days ground from nevada.

 

Well, it won't ship today since UPS had already left the building prior to your order, but it will ship tomorrow.

 

I've had nothing but good customer service from you and your company, Scott. Now, if only Asus would hurry and give you some more of those G73JH-A2's, I'd be glad to give you my money.

 

Xotic is so popular that they are backlogged for weeks with orders for this laptop. I Originally ordered from Xotic on 4/4/10, cancelled and ordered from Gentech on 4/20/10, just got an email saying it shipped 5/3/10. Thanks Gentech!

 

Yea - I hear that! We're only 20 minutes down the road from ASUS so all they have to do give us a call and we're there with the truck to get'em.

 

gstboy...I noticed that you have the Intel 6300 wireless listed in your signature. Was that installed by Gentech or did you do it yourself?

No worries I had read somewhere that is was possible to put the 6300 in the G73 but that you have to figure out a way to run the 3rd antennae.. Thought you might have made that attempt or Gentech did...

Yes you can put a 6300 in a G73 but have to run a 3rd antennae. The 6200 however is plug and play swapable without the need of the 3rd antennae (with of course max 300MBPS over the 450MBPS of the 6300)

If you must have a 6300 you can get a antennae kit here and use one of these antennae to meet your needs there not that hard to install if you have ever popped the memory or hard drive covers off a laptop before.

2 Notebook Wireless Mini PCI PCI-E Network Card Antenna

(*NOTE)^I haven't received my G73JH yet so I am not 100% sure where the mini pcie wireless card is in the laptop(most the time there accessible via a bottom access door/next to memory or hard drive compartment.) However it could be located under the keyboard also(which would make swapping it out a much harder issue.)

Thanks for the update! and No I didn't notice the 50 min order. I don't plan on adding a 3rd antennae to my laptop but for those that are looking at it this place doesn't have a 50 minimum order $9.00 for 3 antennae and free worldwide shipping...(I have never ordered anything from them however so don't know anything about them except they're on the web and have a item that would work for a 6300)

so got mine yesterday from Powernotebooks (as scheduled and as promised!). Installed a few games and tried it out, for everyone still waiting its well worth the wait, its a beast!

Still debating whether to do a clean install but its so fast and I'm having alot of fun with it, the resolution might be too good...lol

 

man I so wanna buy this but I just can't find any place which has it in stock...not to mention, I am living in Thailand atm so that's where it'll have to be shipped

I understand I'll probably need to pre-order it (due to the understandably massive demand) but really, I can't wait for months at this point...as I will be carrying it with me to university once it starts

hmm in that case, I'll def. go thru the posts...also, I did catch the last page which mentioned powernotebooks...but I don't "think" they sell int'l (and even if they did, it says to call them for ETA so that'll have to wait for t'moro as its past midnight here)

anyways, here's hoping I can get my hands on one of these...they are wicked to say the least!

 

We have ASUS G73JH-QM1 and ASUS G73JH-S1 in stock and ready to build but we are sold out of ASUS G73JH-A1 and A2 until later in May.

The good news is all of our A1 orders have been filled through May 3rd, and our A2 orders have been filled through April 25th, so both back order lines are very short

 

do you guys also serve Thailand? if yes, then I'm def. in!

p.s. btw what's the difference between the existing models (say A1, A2) and QM1 and S1? (just the SSD is it?)

 

The QM1 has the Intel® i7-820QM and Intel 80GB SSD, both upgradeable, and our burned ASUS recovery DVD standard.

The S1 has the Intel 80GB SSD Standard, but it too is upgradeable.

Memory upgrades are also better on the QM1 and S1.

 

If I hadn't ordered one already I would have definitely jumped on one of those since I made basically the same upgrades.

 

Just called Donald @ Powernotebooks.com today, should ship tomorrow...this is almost like the anticipation with my first child...OK I wasn't this eager waiting for her... I kid I kid...

 

@paladin44...did you guys (@powernotebooks) just raise the price of the S1 model to $1938.03 from $1812.97 over-night?...and I was hoping to buy one soon

 

We made 8GB DDR3/1333 standard on the ASUS G73JH-S1...thus raising the price by $129, which is much less than the same memory upgrade on the A1 & A2.

Another thumbs up for Donald at powernotebooks. When I found out that Provantage had delayed my order yet again to mid june (ordered mid feb), I cancelled and went with powernotebooks. Donald was super helpful. Cant say enough about em.

Hey does anyone knows if power notebooks ships internationally? Do they usually don't reply to emails? I wrote a couple of emails to them because I was very interested in getting my G73 from them but I never EVER got a response. Ordered from Xotic PC instead two days ago. Has anyone else had this problem?

 

That is nonsense...PowerNotebooks.com answers all emails received within one business day.

If you didn't get a reply to yours it only means that it was either caught by our spam filter, or yours, or you didn't address it properly. To what email address did you send it?

 

I find it highly unlikely that powernotebooks didn't respond to your Email. They were amazingly responsive for both a friend of mine and myself. I suggest calling them if for some reason you aren't getting a response as it is likely an issue with the delivery of your particular messages and not with powernotebooks.

 

I would be very surprised if this were accurate. In my experience, over the course of the last several weeks, Donald has quickly returned any and all emails even if they were stupid questions Also when I called he always answered the phone within 3 rings. So imho this is an aberration and you have done a dis-service to yourself in not going with Powernotebooks.

That's what I said at the beginning. I wanted to order from Powernotebooks because of all the great reviews and comments from everyone at every forum. I'm pretty sure they are awesome judging from everyone's reaction to my comment, but I'm just saying, since I'm outside the U.S its a bit hard for me to call so I chose to go with the email route, and unfortunately didn't get a reply.

 

The wait is killing me. I still have another month of waiting with xoticpc. And PNB only takes wire transfer or CC. Anyone can recommend another great site?

I know! Xotic PC says its about an 8 week wait! I really do hope it ships sooner though. If I see a site (reliable one) that customizes the G73 AND has it ready to ship I'll probably cancel my order and go with whoever ships it first.

If you are looking for the Intel® i7-820QM look at the ASUS G73JH-QM1 with much cheaper DDR3/1333 memory upgrade.

 

Look around on this thread there are tons of options. Xotic is probably the most popular place to get this from but the other guys are just as good. I had an order with them as well but I'd still be waiting for it to come in had I kept it.
