They probably got there's like everyone else after Asus big shipment? And most likely don't sell as much as the popular online vendors? You were at the right time right place?? Go buy a lotto before your luck is out :). If I wasn't told they( Gentech) had mine in stock and are checking it out before they send it I would go there after work (ComputerSonics). :D Mine should ship tomorrow I was told :D :D :D Less than a month not to bad??

Yeah, he just found a smaller vendor that happened to have a few. A bit of luck involved I would say. Sad thing is I was just in Seattle for a trip, if I had known sooner I could have gone and picked one up myself! Oh well.

@ironmike86 If Gentech (a bigger reseller) has their stock already, then it shouldn't be long before other resellers get their stock. I was getting antsy wondering when my new reseller would get their stock lol. It would be awesome if both of ours shipped tomorrow. I was told mine should have been shipped early this week, which implies that as soon as my reseller gets stock, mine gets shipped. And yes, the less than a month wait time sounds great compared to the wait of the earlier orders. :D

^ Yup they are just testing mine since ppl are having video card problems. I live 45min from Lynwood and called everyone before I made my order. So at the time there were none locally

Also another thing i dislike about Asus the most, is the fact its hard to find parts for their machines sometimes, and the aviability of this machine for example and also finally a better configuration from them themselves, eventually they won't always be able to use their resellers, for them to truly be a better competitor for other companies, i would like to see a crossfire fx 5870 someday too or similar.

I totally agree and same here. *knocks on wood*. No issues keyboard...vid card or anything. I am running it stock with stock install - crap - creative software + X-Fi USB 5.1 with creative software.

I like Asus a lot, i had a Alienware M17x, it was too heavy to carry around and caused me to have asthma attacks when carrying around so you know where that goes, i am getting impatient a bit even though my courses are more important right now lol. Wow man nice picturre, could you take more and more of the screen too and overall the machine, i will rep you.

Well guys, this is like my 3rd time this month saying this, but my laptop will be here tomorrow. The difference is this time it has been shipped, last time it was just a supplier telling me that they would ship it by the end of the day.

I agree with the comment on ASUS having parts for their laptops available. It's been pretty frustrating trying to get an HD caddy ordered. I've had a 500gb HD sitting here for my X1 for almost two months. Starting to think I should just throw it in my PS3 and then order an SSD once I finally get my hands on a caddy.

I ordered on the 27th of March from PortableOne.com.

As far as pics go...I mean, there's already plenty of pics on the internet of this laptop. Is there anything specific you want to see? ;)

I'm telling you guys, those of you who are waiting...check with the guys at PortableOne.com's customer service. Just ask when they can get the laptop out to you. If it's sooner than your current order, cancel and go through them! They're awesome.

Just checked by order status with Amazon and it has changed to "estimated delivery between April 20 and May 4". I guess it is good that I got an update but I am a little frustrated that it might be another 4 weeks of waiting. Please remind me that this laptop is worth it.

    Steelejaxon
Placed order March 18th - Still waiting 20 days and counting

Wow. All I can say is, Ken and GenTech are beyond amazing. I pre-ordered with them on 3/18, and then canceled because I was discouraged by the wait time. I called them today to see if I could reactivate my order since orders placed around the time mine was placed seemed to have been filled. Not only could they reactivate my order, they're shipping it today. These guys are truly the best! They have stuck with it, even though I was impatient. They will do for you what other companies will not do. Thank you Ken and GenTech! :)

I ordered with Donald from Powernotebooks.com (who was awesome) and it shipped on the 5th. Now I'm watching the UPS tracker like mad. It just sat in San Pablo CA (on the EXACT other side of the country from DC) from 1am yesterday to 12am today and then it shipped off somewhere. I'm desperately curious to see where it goes next haha. It's like a virtual road trip!

Probally the G73 part will be hard to get for awhile because they can't even stock the laptops yet :( Most other models I bet you can get parts? Mine shipped today 24 days after ordering. I hope they checked it out like they said they would? FWIW Newegg has the A2 for $1749 if anyone is still waiting

I'm not really worried about it, I guess I could say I have faith that everything will be just fine :) I don't even think mine was tested (because I didn't request it to be tested and I ordered stock) but I'm still pretty confident that I will get a perfectly working machine. Although I'm an optimistic person in general lol :p If worse comes to worse, at least I can have the peace of mind knowing that I have the support of my reseller should something go wrong :) As for your situation, I do not know of any case where the machine was tested and was still shipped with defects, nor do I think that such a thing could happen. Let me put it this way: (let's just say) mine wasn't tested and I'm not worried, so if yours was tested, I wouldn't be worried at all if I were you ;)

It seems to be, it was a known issue to me when I ordered it and took my chances, lasted since the 23rd of March till now.

Hey, I hope to be back out of here soon.

We ordered about the same time, didn't we? I can't believe you still don't have yours.

I loved it for that time I had it. It's in the box in front of where I am sitting, typing on this old MBP with bootcamped XP.

I might be the only person in this thread pretty quick... = (.

I ordered 3 days after you, but not from NCIX, which had stock pretty quickly after you ordered it. Heck, if I was Canadian, I would have had my laptop a couple weeks ago.

And there are others, I think. You won't be lonely. Nevertheless, here's to hoping your machine gets replaced as quickly as possible ;)

This is Insigzilla, long time reader, first time poster. I've been following this forum as a way to keep my ear to the ground for news concerning the g73jh-a1 that I want SUUUUPER badly!! That's why I'm writing, because I have news about the laptop that may interest someone.

Another seller just popped up on Amazon with the g73jh-a1 available. You may ask why I didn't snatch it up instead of posting here, and the answer to that is because Amazon is NOT the seller and therefore the computer is going for one penny shy of $2000 plus shipping and handling. So, I would if I could, but I can't so I won't. However, I thought it my duty to alert anyone who has been surfing this forum as I had, waiting for any news of available A1s. There it is, go get it!! And if you buy it, think of me and how poor I am to not be able to afford it. :-(

EDIT: I tried looking it up through the main page of Amazon and it still doesn't come up. Look for the seller at this link: http://www.amazon.com/shops/ForrestComputer

Hopefully, there you can find it. Good luck!

Been following this amazing thread for a while now.

After ordering from Amazon about a month ago and hearing nothing I went crazy. I heard about the April 1st shipments from multiple sites and I started searching for an A1. On Monday I found that BTO had A1s in stock, I canceled my Amazon pre-order and picked one up and it is about to be here in an hour!
    I got so ridiculously lucky.

I just recieved a notice from my distributer that the G73 has slipped into a mid April delivery to them. I have orders placed with Portbaleone and they seem like nice people to work with, however the delivery dates keep being pushed back.
Is everybody else getting this from their distributer? I am being told this is ASUS fault, not Portableone.
Is anybody aware of a ASUS certified distributer with inventory?
The inflated price at Newegg is looking better every day.

    Thanks.

So we're in the same situation. My last update from UPS was over 48 hrs ago - Departure from Cali. So all I know is, mine is somewhere between here and Cali. For all I know, it could be in Denver already, but probably not, I think it will get there tomorrow. From that point I would just go pick it up myself, as I only live an hour from the distribution center here, but I'll be busy all day :( and I'm thus forced to wait till Monday as well. Oh well, a few more days can't hurt. Also have a bunch of stuff to do tomorrow and Sunday, so I don't really need a new computer distracting me

Called them, got one. Thanks for the tip. I was staying in Pre-order list in other shops for weeks with no success. At ComputerSonics.com got one in few days.

A friend of mine will bring it to me to Latvia (where I live). Hier it is not possible to get such model. I can only get hier an older model: like G72 for around 3000$. That is insane.

    Can't wait to get... :)

Update: As of 11:50 PM last night, my machine is officially in Colorado (I literally shouted out loud because I was getting worried about it ). If only they could deliver it right now, and I was free for the rest of the day. Then I could sit back and enjoy this computer, and call it the best weekend I've had in years :)

Been productive in finishing reading books for my hardest Poli Sci course, writing a paper on it and just overall being productive today.

I am not sure I like the tradeoff - productivity for my G73...

I played a bit of EVE Online and Heroes of Newerth yesterday on this MBP (on bootcamped XP). I almost cried. In HoN I would be darn-well near the first person loaded, and all graphics were on high and smooth as silk. Now I am the last or second last to load and it can be choppy in some team fights... = (.

With EVE Online I could run three accounts simultaneously with almost all high graphics (I turned off bloom and super shading), now I can barely run two (one client will lock up every couple of minutes) with everything on the lowest settings.

    I miss it.

I did it. I just bought a G73JH-A1 from ComputerSonics.com. It was scary, I think that's the most I've ever spent online! I have the confirmation from paypal and the money is gone from my account, now I just want a confirmation of it being sent, or at least of the intent to send it as it is in stock!! I want to know they actually have it in stock and don't just have it listed without telling people it's not in stock. *Sits and fidgets* I HATE the waiting game!!

I think it's so unfair that countries with much lower average income should pay up to 2 times more that in USA. It's so nice that we have frends to help us out ... :)

I'm glad I finally got mine. Screen and keyboard are perfect. I installed a 80GB SSD in the place of one of the 500GB drives. Going to put that 500GB in an external enclosure and perhaps hook it up to my NAS. I also installed 1TB drive in a optical bay caddy for all my games. Only issue I have is that 10.3 drivers are not stable with my laptop. I hope 10.4 fixes those issues. It runs smooth with the stock drivers though.

If this forum is for G73JH-A 1 future owners, why am I seeing so much about the A2? Shouldn't A2 owners start a happy/delirious G73JH-A2 current owners thread?
