well if it could pull off 1.5 hours with full brightness with the cpu underclocked, (dnt care how much), i will be ok because i will be getting a backup battery for class
and anything more would just be a bonus

I second that emotion.

I just emailed Ken at gentech. He said they got in all their units today
He also seemed optimistic about the preorders getting shipped out by the end of the week
Now I can finally get really excited and start bouncing off walls (weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee). After all it is my first laptop. I'm sure it will break me in well.
I will also start posting on this thread. (yay?) I have read it every day and night but haven't posted anything yet. I thought an announcement like this would be a good start. -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
All the pre-orders or majority of them? What did he say exactly like any rough estimates of how many pre-orders?
Edit: Also yeah gentech has it listed as in stock. Cheers! -
"Yes they are coming today and we will put in inventory and start to ship to all pre-orders, hopefully all pre-orders will be ship out by the end of this week."
He doesn't give an exact number but it sounds safe to say that most will be out. Obviously the earlier you ordered the better chance it will ship... but it sounds optimistic for anyone who preordered -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
YAY! I pre-ordered exactly 2 weeks ago to the day. Thx.
-
I ordered on June 26th, Ken told me to expect it to be shipped on Thurs or Fri at the latest (this week)
-
and heres a quote from ken, from late last night after asking if mine would ship this friday:
"if you order just barebone with wireless card and 3 year warranty then I think there is a good chance to ship on Friday, please call us on Thursday just to check the progress of your order."
i ordered no cpu, no hard drive, no ram
but i ordered 2 days ago sunday 7/8 -
SHHHHHH lol... Don't burst my(or anyone elses bubble) -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
1 day before me. I'll be damned if you get the last 1 of this shipment!!!
-
lol, i got ground shipping anyway, wont have it till next week atleast
-
I don't see paying more than the minimum for shipping anyways... in all my experiences, packages have come on time if not a couple days early. UPS is reliable... I deal with shipping with them every day at work. -
yah i love ups - just hate how they dont ship on saturdays. it will take 4 days from cali (missouri).
if it ships friday or monday, i will still have it next week. if they ship tuesday, it goes all the way to the following monday. -
Ok. Guys its official. I ordered mine fro excaliberpc. yesterday. Guy called to confirm order today but i wasnt home. I called him back just now and he set it up. It would have been here tommorrow if I was home to confirm earlier. However, it will be here thurs. Too bad i have to WORK. If it gets here before I go to work then ill play with it that night and put up some small results that night. Otherwise...well....ill have some stuff up friday before noon.
SUMMARY: ILL GET MINE THURS FROM EXCALIBURPC.COM. ORDERED YESTERDAY (JULY 9TH). Barebones, 160GB Seagate 7200.2, 8600M GT, Wireless lan. Nothing installed. -
I am ordering some new ram for the c90. I bought 2 of these http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820231069
but now i am going to upgrade to 3gb matching pair so if anyone wants these let me know and ill put them on ebay for you
Matching pair means same model with a "1" instead of a "2" in the model to note as 1gb or 2gb -
vinceboiii Animals are friends, not food.
*EDIT* oh wait theres only 2 slots right so i need one 2gb and one 1gb damn -
AlexOnFyre Needs to get back to work NBR Reviewer
wha? matching pair? They don't make 1.5GB sticks...do they?
-
i think they do, never hear about them though
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
matching pair can be a loose term, all it has to mean is they were tested to work together. Thus a matched pair.
-
I tell you semantics are going to be the end of the world
-
AlexOnFyre Needs to get back to work NBR Reviewer
There is a technical term though "matched pair" that means two sticks that have identical speed, density and chips per side.
Edit: There can't be a 1.5 GB, it has to be a power of two. -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Matching pair is actually the correct term.
Also is ups ground the same thing as ups 3day? -
memory can be placed in 756MB / SODIMM.
No will however make such module due 2 simple reason.
Per Chip density, Waste of PCB. -
Maybe he meant 2gb matched pair but the c90 will only recognize 3gb thus having 3gb matched pair
-
What kind of warranty is offered on this baby? Anyone found a really good one? I'd like to know about that, because that could make or break my purchase (almost literally XD).
Been real iffy on this purchase, especially that tiny battery life. Sacrifice gaming for longer battery life, or get used to being stuck near an AC outlet or the time? I dunno... -

You can get like a 2-3yr warrenty thru the reseller if you want. Also various components bought seperatly have there own warrenty. A HDD for instance commonly comes with a 5yr warrenty.

Are you a power user? I mean a real power user!!!
Then you need a laptop that can withstand 10000000w of pure energy and throw fireballs at your foes, and not crack when you get hit at the speed of light from a 360 degree super flying spin kick.
Yeah, you need a C90!
Goku recomends the C90, its the only notebook ever used that when applications are going slow you can boost it into Super Sayin 3 mode!!! (aka overdrive mode) for 2.93ghz of pure Powwwaa!!
/ end advertisment --> start bordom. -
Holy crap Vicious !!! if Goku recommends it then Im ordering one now !!! Im also odering an seagate 500GB esata external HD for extra gaming space
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Yeah I was on border about getting an external hdd, I may down the road but for now I just got a 250gb internal drive that should hold me just fine.
Id recomend the WD externals they are pretty cheap and perform great. Heck you can make your own aswell if you like. Just remember try to get e-sata, its much faster than usb 2.0 and the c90 comes stock with esata. -
Defitnely Esata, I'll check WD drives thanks for the tip
-
Good grief people I been went back and edited that post about the "matched pair"
-
It's a hard decision, really... -
If anyone wants to get their c90 tommorrow (thurs) you can order it from excaliberpc.com. They still have 5 in stock. I ordered mine and they said it would be here tommorrow. Just select overnight shipping. FYI.
-
This may have been covered before, but how future proof is the capacity to replace the CPU, when quad cores are scheduled for the end of this year? Also, how could you atke advantage of faster buss speeds?
-
How is excaliberpc.com?? are they reliable?? thanks in advance
-
Are there any news on the C90P??? When will it be released?
-
I honestly dont know. The conversation I had with the service associate that I spoke with was very pleasing. He was knowledeable and answered all of my questions.
-
well, I will see..already order one...
regards,

If im not mistaken I think that UPS 3-day i supposed to arrive in 3-days or under while UPS ground is like 5-9 days. However, in my experience ground usually gets to me in like 4 days so I don't think 3-day is worth the extra $.

MXM II v2.0 w/ TTP (Will Not Function Without GPU)
* Graphic card sold separately
without GPU card $789.00 no thanks. -
what OS are you guys going to use on the C90?? Im going to use Vista ultimate but cant decide whether the 32bit or the 64 bit ... does anyone know which version will make better use of the C90 hardware??? (software compatibility is not really an issue)
-
vinceboiii Animals are friends, not food.
imma stick with xp pro =D
-
well the only reason i wanted to use ultimate 64bit was to get full use of 4gb of memory but since this can't run 4gb anyway, i might as well use 32bit since it will have more support
are the drivers going to be on the asus website? or is vista just going to use generic drivers -

http://www.excaliberpc.com/Seagate_Barracuda_7200.10_Hard/ST3250620AS/partinfo-id-566660.html
Is this hard drive compatible for the c90? It seems kind of unreal to be for a laptop for only 70$... -

excaliber is a drop shipper
if you buy barebones you better make sure asus will honor warranty
from what i hear they are making a firm policy not to honor barebone warranty from end user. i guess that is good for us dealers that actually offer dealer warranty for the products we sell
it has been confirmed that the c90s is missing a packet a screws. if you purchased a barebones you will have to contact your dealer or asus. anyone that purchased a complete sys will have all the screws added by your dealer (well some dealers). I have had a variety of end users from other vendors contact me in recent years complaining that intel vbi is not honoring their warranty and asking us for help. I believe asus is adopting the same policy. -
i really hope that gentech is including the screws if they also infact have a missing pack
i ordered barebones except for wireless and a 3 year warranty. if i don't have the screws to put them together, well i don't want to think about it personally -
Geared2play.com Company Representative
i think ken has some spares like we do to hold him over for a bit. he is also in cali close to asus. most other dealers are not so fortunate and not very interested in inspecting your box. to anyone that ordered outside the few dealers on this forum that do take this matter seriously...i wish you luck. i belive asus will be able to help you this time if your dealer does not.
-
Update::
called again, and they said they are missing screws for the hard drive and video card - which are the same type of screws.
asus told them to ship the computers anyway and gentech will give our addresses to asus and they will ship directly to us.
they are trying to use screws that they have and they also expect to get more screws tomorrow.
its a total of 6 screws missing
