Why does your package say 1lb? I think they shipped you an I.O.U

LOL! You didn't order anything else with it, did you? Hopefully it's not just that. Newegg apparently broke up my order and is sending just the laptop thus far. My HD is coming afterwards.

Didn't want to get bottom paged' on my question, so I'll ask again- any owners know of some good black backpacks that will definitely fit the G73? So far the Velocity Matrix/Spyder is on my short list, but I saw a link awhile back to another small internet direct company and now I can't find it. Any help?

The one the Asus comes with is a Targus.

I'd go with a slappa though...

Slappa's my main choice currently. The X-1 looks like it will not come with one, though I'll wait till tonight to confirm that before ordering.

No Falienware! ;) Had to say it. I'd prefer not to get a different brand badge on it if I can avoid it. I like that bag though.

If you mean the X1's, mine's already on the truck for delivery. If you mean the Slappa... yeah, that'd suck.

Slappa has emails offering discounts, and also offers NBR members discounts at times.

Cool, I hope you really do get your G73 today too. For everyone getting their G73 today from NE (A2 and X1), would you mind answering the folowing questions for all the members
    1. Bag and mouse?
    2. 1 or 2yr warrany?
    3. 2nd drive caddy?
    4. 1066 RAM or 1333?

LOL @sshole. ;) I am 35 and need something a little more "tame" for business travel. I like the Slappa but it may be a little out there for that.

I'll be sure to answer these when I get home if they're not answered already. My guesses:

    1. No
    2. 1 yr.
    3. Caddy
    4. Toss up. I'm hoping 1333 obviously! :D

Well, I finally confirmed with Asus, that the X-1 model is in fact only covered by a 1-yr warranty...... so the information NewEgg list, is indeed correct for this SKU.

This may be true for the X1, but my A2 from Newegg should be the same as the A2's that shipped over the weekend from XoticPC. Only time will tell.

Can you call Asus and extend the warranty?

Not a deal breaker for me as I don't keep systems longer than 6 months anyway ;)

    Yes ... The A1 has 4X Blu-Ray Reader / 8X DVDRW/CDRW Super Multi Combo Drive - Standard

But still XoticPC is asking for $115 to upgrade to 2x BR rom for A2 where as downgrade to dvd drive for A1 is giving you $96 !!!

    Notebook Warranty Extension Package

Since warranty exclusions apply regarding the X-1 model, I would call Asus to verify the above is applicable.

Nope, I believe I am done now.

FWIW, I just called and spoke with someone @ customer service for ASUS and she said ASUS doesn't sell warranties, you have to buy it from the reseller. Which I guess means if Newegg didn't offer an extended ASUS warranty, you're stuck buying their in-house warranty service for X amount of years.

    EDIT: Same thing kurt said.

Why not just use the 3rd party squaretrade warranty that people were talking about yesterday? It's reasonable and on sale right now and seems to have decent ratings...

I just called ASUS for other people here. I'm not interested in a warranty past the 2 years I already have.

I don't keep a laptop longer than a year anyway because I can't stand something newer being out. That's why I'm replacing (or maybe just adding to) my T400 that's about 8 months old.

Just cancelled my NewEgg order, so there's one more X1 available. After paying $45 for fast shipping just having it sit there "processing" was too much... plus the whole no return, no Blu-Ray, no bag, no mouse, no full ASUS 2 yr. warranty thing. Plus I always really wanted to do business with GenTech, never dropped my order there, got logical: I have a fine-working G51J so even if I wait until March so what? It was your influence, Striker!

I'm a bit busy at work, so this'll have to be brief (and I apologize if it's already posted), but I can at least verify that the sticker on the top and bottom of my newly-delivered X1 say it has a two year warranty. It has the 4 memory slots (3 visible), with 1333 speed ram in it. It does have a bay for the second drive, but no little cover thingy that seems to be holding the other one down, so I'll have to find something for that. Oh, no backpack/mouse, either.
