Yes, I believe this is a mistake, because they are only listing the 1 yr ADW, which is NOT Asus's standard warranty!

I agree with this statement they placed therein:

" Below is a summary provided for convenience only and may not be accurate or current."

Well, I had to actually work a bit so I didn't end up getting to cancel the warranty part and have been charged. At this point, I'll just wait and see. If nothing else, I have a huge warranty on the thing that can potentially be passed on if I turn around and sell it in a few years.

I still plan on putting another HD in it (going with the Hitachi 500gb 7200rpm) and a BD player in it (now that I've seen how to remove the bezel I'm pretty sure I can do it without issue) so it'll pretty much be an A1 by the time I'm done, and I'll have it a month + earlier.

I appreciate everyone's replies on the subject and I'll be sure to come back and let you know what I find out when I get the package from Newegg.

One lesson from this pre-order mess I'm taking to heart is don't count on these things getting shipped until you have one in your hands. I'll cancel GenTech when I have the X1 purring on my desk...

It's not my fault ASUS seems to have screwed their prime resellers, and not the reseller's fault either. But if I was Ken or Justin and had just spun my wheels like they have for the past month I'd be livid, and letting the mothership hear about it. It's a heck of a way to run a railroad.

I'm not bashing your decision, just surprised at the fact that you spent another 1500 without checking to make sure you are due a refund from Gentech.

This is the same as Wal-Mart -vs.- the small businessman.

I would imagine Newegg will sell more G73JH's than all of the active resellers on this site put together. That's probably why they got more. I honestly didn't know a thing about XoticPC or GenTechPC before I came to this site specifically.

I buy ASUS motherboards all day long for my customers' builds, so I decided to stray away from Lenovo and try something new. But really, I had no clue legit resellers existed, because I've always built my own. Can't do that with a laptop. (Well, you can, but finding parts is what sucks.)

Infrared, I would also boot from a Linux LiveCD and see if you have the same problem. Just to make sure it's a hardware issue and not something stupid. Some self-diagnosis that may save you weeks in getting a replacement.

The way you are typing almost makes me think condensation got into the keyboard. Try leaving it off, with the lid up overnight and see if the problem still persists tomorrow.

Asus is giving me D/.O/.A/. and wi;l;l rep9;lace it/. However, If I have it rep9aired the turn around is much faster/.

If you got the stock model, then I'd definitely get it repaired. I don't want no one I don't know or trust poking their grubby little hands in my lappy, even if it is a certified Asus tech.

Now if you had upgrades done from the reseller, consider getting it repaired as I can pretty much guarantee they won't transfer them over.

IR, I would talk to Excalibur and tell them that you are going to hold onto and use an external keyboard until the next stock comes in. When it does, have them hold one for you for RMA and then send yours back.

The usb ports seem to be passive and the power is only for the fans. That makes the hub unusable for some hardware like speakers. My speakers pop when plugging it into the cooler.

I personally took a pass on that cooler since the fans are concentrated on the top half of the notebook. For the G73JH you'll want the fans in the center or lower half so it can feed the memory slots. You also want air pushing towards the laptop.

Since you're willing to spend that kind of $, evaluate the Zalman NC2000: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...86&cm_re=zalman_nc2000-_-34-998-686-_-Product
Air flow is variable, wind is encompassing and the grill is well positioned imo. I plan on putting together an AC adapter for it when a plug is available. Please let me know your opinion.

Anyone have any idea if will be possible to upgrade the G73JH with dual 5870's in SLI when they come out? (Assuming they do come out.) Does it have room under the hood for dual graphics cards?

Thanks for the comments guys. I actually have the Zalman NC1000 for my VAIO.

I'll look into other options though. I actually just wanted a dock so I only have to unplug one USB plug since I have a ton of External Hard-Drives from video editing, etc. Thought getting a cooler would kill two birds with one stone :)

When is the earliest that someone is receiving their X1?
Please, when you receive it, register the product and update us on what the warranty is.
Also. kindly tell us about the Bag&Mouse status and whether the empty HDD bay has a caddy

    GROUNDED

Thanks for all of the advice. The Unit is packed up and going out on FedEx first thing in the morning.

I am getting a D.O.A. from Asus and they will ship out the fist available unit from their stock. I was told (and hope it is true) that they have a reserve stock for just this purpose. We'll see. If I don't have a new unit by Feb 18th Sh#t will hit the fan, HARD !!!

ExCaliber told me I would have to pay the shipping to them for a replacement and they would pay the shipping back. The Service rep also explained that they would rather Asus take the replacement out of there stock and not ExCalibers.

I understand they do not have any units available in stock to ship me a replacement. But, I asked If I could have a unit allocated to me for the Feb. 17th shipment. They would not guarantee this. Poor job on the Customer service, Guess I will not be doing business with them again.

So as of right now, my best option is to deal directly with Asus and hope that the turnaround is quicker than expected.

    Wish me luck !!!

    --- Just to say ---

The Look and Feel of the G73 was Amazing !!!

Still on board with the crew and waiting for my next stealth fighter to come in!!!

    Anyone from AUSTRALIA pre-ordered yet?

I am thinking of pre-ordering through p4laptops.com.au but I'm just scared of the arrival date - don't want to pay now and wait 2 months for it!

Especially when peoples on here are making me jealous with their vids + benchmarks...

Glad to hear things will work out. If Asus told you they have reserve stock, you should expect your replacement within a 4 to 5 day turn-around from the day they receive your return. If not, begin calling them at that point.

I wish you the best, and hope you see your new stealth G73 soon!

This morning I rang Ken. The ETA is still 17th Feb. He said hasn't heard anything from Asus about delays...etc.

I am hearing contradicting stories (even amongst resellers). My guess is that no one really knows what's going on.

That doesn't sound too bad. Although if I order now I will probably be on the 1,324th shipment by the sounds of things.

Out of curiousity, what did the final price come to (with exchange + tax + gst + etc). If you aren't comfortable posting it for everyone to see a PM would be great =)

Shipping to Australia is $149 via USPS.

He is taking care of it as in he is not including it in price? Interesting. Not sure where I should order from now!

p4laptops can do me the same deal as in my sig for around AUD $3200 (which is around USD $2800) so its a little more expense here in Australia, however i didn't include tax which could bring it up, but if its not included then... hmmm...
