Since some resellers are announcing they will not be customizing the G73JH, there is really no longer any advantages buying from them, vice NewEgg, other than some offering a 15-day return policy. Otherwise, should customers have an issue, ultimately all will be dealing with Asus in the end regarding warranty repairs. It doesn't matter if it's NewEgg, or another reseller, the same Asus warranty will apply, and their warranty is one of the best in the industry.
I am very tempted by these bargain X models!

so the x1's only difference should be HDD space? -
** sigh ** I caved.
-
I'll be sure to post some unboxing pics tomorrow when my X1 should *hopefully* arrive....assuming we don't get too much snow tonight here in VA.

You make it sound like a bad thing, drake.
Cheer up! -

Yes but 1 year warranty is an absolute deal breaker for me.. the X1 would be an absolute last resort..
i need the 2yr(pref 3yr) GLOBAL warranty as i'm in India, so will be screwed if anything goes wrong and no warranty to cover it..
I'm having it brought along with a friend to avoid massive duties! He's coming back around March 20th, hope some viable option shows in time!
^^ yes i had the same query about the HDD caddy(posted in other thread), would be happy if someone could answer.. -
I'm assuming that the G73JH-A1s are still sitting on the processing line waiting for final assembly (and not sitting in customs).
So what are the odds that Asus will reward the early pre-orders by adding a little something extra to the A1s to further differentiate them from the A2s? Maybe a USB 3.0 or eSATA?
Not really expecting anything, just trying to keep my spirits up during my two month wait.

Like we said, the warranty may be the same.
We'll know tomorrow, but newegg will most likely be sold out by then -

The near endorsement to buy the X1 from the man who started the G73 snowball rolling just caused newegg's server to crash!
Seriously though, that's probably all it will take for NE to sell out of those 80 lappies now. I hope you all do get the bag and mouse too -
-
newegg isn't grey market. lol
I am almost 100% positive they are an authorized reseller (as is Amazon). -
Hey folks, just wanted to officially join the owners lounge I'm running on my ole 6831fx!! I installed a T9300 last yr and it has done me very well but with the newer games coming out, I wanted to upgrade!
So, Hey there soon to be owners!! Looking forward to a new play toy. Guess I'll play the Bad Company beta until it gets here!! -

What I am saying here, is I do not believe NewEgg has provided COMPLETE Asus Warranty info in their description, and NewEgg purchaser's should receive the same Asus warranty as A model purchaser's...... just as shown on the Asus website. I do not believe there will be any differences here. If this is a concern, then wait till reports are validated by other NewEgg buyers here, or call NewEgg for additional clarification.
Regardless, where you purchase your G73JH, the new owner should immediately register the product with Asus. This activates your warranty, and the same must be done to activate the ADW coverage. Links to these I provided in post #1. Once registered, I feel 100% certain all G73JH owners will find they have the same coverages, with the exceptions to perhaps limited exclusions due to country coverage policies.
-
I realize people have problems and all, but like it has already been stated. If something goes wrong, it'll happen within the first year of owning the machine.
And 9 times out of 10, if something happens in that second year, it's because you didn't take care of it.
I have yet to have a computer fail on me, but I'm a perfectionist neat freak that can't stand fingerprints or dust. My stuff stays in pristine condition and no one uses it or touches it. And the only pets I have are two gerbils. -
It'd be nice if Asus had a better website with these things listed and differences between models....
And newegg is in fact an authorized reseller (for whoever doubted). -
It will also be global right? i ask this because i didn't understand what you meant by "limited exclusions due to country coverage policies"
either way i doubt i'll be able to get my order in...
if it doesnt get sold out by tomorrow, it definitely will by the time i send my friend the order link and he gets around to ordering
Edit: Thanks for the quick reply to my warranty query sleey0 & -=$tR|k3r=- -
If purchased from a US reseller, the 360 warranty should apply which is global.

It should be the same. Newegg is just the seller. The boxes are sealed from the time they leave ASUS's possession until you make an unboxing video. I can't see ASUS making the warranty any different, but I could be wrong. It's happened before.

Folks, Asus's warranty policies are posted here! Please read and understand them carefully. Again, Asus has one of the best warranties in the industry, and from my personal experience here, they are one of the best in fullfillment as well!
Don't forget to register your product with Asus!
-
I think the 360 applies to all Asus machine's sold in the US.
So X1 owner's are in for a treat -
Cant someone simply call newegg or asus and ask
-

I never really left..... just been lurking and resisting temptation to pull the trigger!

^ the egg would probably repeat what's on the website.
I suppose someone could call Asus. More fun to wait and see tomorrow, like an easter egg in the box -
I pre-ordered via xotic and cancelled BEFORE I even knew about newegg. So I guess it all worked out -
I look at all this as a learning experience. As a "newbie" high performance machine purchaser, I'm fascinated by all the nuances involved in trying to get the latest technology first. This is a first class soap opera along with a crash course in techy speak. This alone has been worth the price of admission to a whole new world (for me) and actually makes the waiting somewhat worth it as I get to follow along for a longer period of time. Thanks for a great 1st quarter at NBR university!! Now, if I could just get my hands on that dang computer...
-
Put my X1 on plastic from the Egg; I'll need to cancel my order at GenTech after it gets here and I know all is well with it. I paid cash at GenTech, think I'll have any trouble getting a refund?
-
+1
As this will be my first gaming laptop I have never played a game on a computer I'm so excited -
I doubt gentech isn't going to give back your money on a pre-order.
That would be reseller suicide. -

why does it say warranty: 720 days for the A1 and 1 year for the X1? This is all under the Manufacturer Info tab (pic).
Hopefully just a site mistake...Attached Files:

The alienware desktop is looking like a better choice right now but I can't take that with me to the bathroom so Asus is still in the lead

vIGAMEIv, I can't believe you would let farticles contaminate the cooling system of your G73!
