Is anyone going to take my advice and install with a Vista disc to verify my results of no lockups? Haven't had any issues since I did it... Even used the drivers off the CD with no issue.

Phinagle, new setting did not work resulting in blue screen.
I spoke with ASUS yet again. I called a little over two hours ago and asked for JJ. He was not available and they took my info and told me they would he would call back in an hour. He did not so I called back. I spoke with a tech that gave me the same story with no timeframe for a resolution.
Now, what he told me was a bit different. So I am going to try this one last time before deciding to RMA.
-F9 install.
-Do not select all windows updates, just important,
-Safe mode to uninstall Turbo Driver
-Reboot and do not reinstall
-High Performance in windows power options
Besides the known GPU driver issues he did state that the sleep and ac/battery locking issues where known and also being worked on...
I stilll have not received a response from the web support regarding my last email to them which I posted earlier.
anyway, I will try again but I am growing weary of this mess.... -
Sorry it didn't help you out.
-
and at least they are testing it and it aint just sitting on someones shelf -
Phinagle,
I thank you, seemed like a good plan.
I just don't have it in me to reinstall again tonight. I'll do it in the am.....So depressed about this thing......
I'll let you know how it turns out but I don't feel as if this "new" procedure will do anything but buy ASUS another day keeping my ing at bay. -
my w90vp-x1 is two hours away from my city will be gettin it tomorrow then i will be joinin the team.

Well I just bought one W90Vp-X1 on newegg today cant wait to see it. at least I can say I have the fastest laptop on the market for at least 3-6 months. But you cant beat the price 2200 bucks. I just wish it had blue ray on it. I have read this thread for a few hrs now and I am very tired of it now so can any one tell me a good blue ray drive I can get for this thing? any help would be great.

You might pay more, but you get a US Warranty -
Well count another W90vp for the canadian Contingent!
After sleeping on it (well actually I barely slept a wink), I pulled the trigger this morning and ordered one
I'm not expecting this new batch to be any better than the first, but we'll see...
At least I have an Asus repair depot not far from me if I do end up with a problematic unit.
- Now I'm off to find a blu-ray drive and 2nd hard drive. -
Hopefully this new batch has the wrinkles ironed out. -
Well, woke up. and again followed ASUS's phone tech supports instructions that were given to me last night.
Loaded LFD, and 2-3 mins into game, pc crashed. I am sitting here looking at the dark screen, knowing the only way out is to hold the power down.
I can't wait to call again and hear how they are working on the issue but have not a clue how long it will take.
I can't wait to check my email and see that my last web inquiry was not responded to.
But hey, like I was told last night on the phone "I am going to have an awesome laptop once they figure it out."
I am split between waiting it out for the drivers and getting a RMA. Either choice blows. I can sit here and stare at this thing and wait until they release new drivers that will hopefully cure the woes. All the time thinking if the new drivers do not correct my issues, I will have to send it anyway. Or send it now, wait for NewEgg to determine if its defective, hope that they will, hope that they have another in stock to send me,,,Either way, a lot of hope involved.
I have lost my faith in ASUS. I know that the techs are limited due to the circumstances, but someone from Customer Relations should be doing something. How in the world can this be acceptable??? I have wasted hours and days, reinstalling the OS, trying this, trying that at the suggestions of both the web support and phone support. I have dealt with not being called back, not being responded to via the web interface, and most importantly
NOT EVEN A SINGLE APOLOGY for the problems and huge waste of my time.
So great, I may eventually have a great laptop, from a company that has lost sight of it's customers.
Sorry for the rant, just feeling so crappy about this whole mess. -

I'm from Ontario.
Hopefully I'll have it in my hands before the weekend
(Selected UPS Expidited shipping) -
Congrats Jamiee im sure your going to enjoy your new beast i was going to pull the trigger this morning as well but they were sold out lol (like i said yesterday) . I guess some things are just not meant to be .
-
Let us know when you get it. I'm eager to see if this batch is issue free. I have had little to no problems with mine (knock on wood LOL) so maybe it's just the Americans that got bad units LMAO (runs for cover due to inevitable flaming)
Just kidding guys. -
Funny thing is that I'm pretty sure Canadian and US units all come from the same warehouse anyway ....(??)
I'm almost sure Newegg Canada is just a Canadian pricing front for Newegg.com.
Afterall items that appear on the .com site also appear on the .ca site at the same time.
I'm crossing my fingers that my unit arrives before the weekend and that it runs hassle free. -
Just luck of the draw I guess. -
@TRICH911: I suggest you RMA the one you have for a replacement. Your W90 sounds especially broke. ;/
-
my cousin got one off the new batch its fine no issues and they, (newegg) is out of stock again.
i will be gettin mine today at around 3 pst missed the truck was at school oh how are 4 hours going to pass...... -

-=$tR|k3r=- said: ↑Ok Folks,
Seems since I sent my last Technical Inquiry, ASUS is calling me now.
I just got off the phone not more than an hour ago, with a supervisor (this time), and he admitted that they did not want this thing to escalate. He indicated that they now believe it's a hardware issue. (unspecified)
Essentially, he told me to execute my RMA, and they would send me a REPLACEMENT. SOOOO, I am now doing another F9 recovery, preparing it to send back.
Anyhow, YES, I think we are finally getting their attention.
I further demanded answers to my Technical Inquiry in writing, and he said he would attend to this personally.
I'll will have mine shipped out today. Another good reason to RMA to ASUS, is the turn-around time will be minimal. With NewEGG, even if they had models in stock, it could take up to two weeks before they even evaluate it, and even then, they may not replace it...... they may just determine to send it to ASUS. According to NewEgg's policy, it's their call.
Again, I like the W90Vp, and I am set on ASUS getting it right, which I am sure they will!
For all of the folks who just ordered from NewEgg's second batch of W90Vp arrivals, I sincerely hope none of you inherit the same problems as we 'early adopters'.
Good Luck & Best Regards to All!Click to expand...
Anyway, this seems like even more bad news. It took them this long to stop denying there's a serious issue? Nearly 3 weeks, that's pretty poor. And if this is a hardware issue...then is there any solution to the countless units already sent out? Will there ever be a solid fix? Has everyone wasted $2200? Does Asus intend to reimburse their distraught customers in any way, or just brush us off? You probably cannot answer this, but it seems you have an inside connection. This whole situation is getting out of hand and becoming a nightmare. But that's just my two cents. I seriously hope those questions get addressed by this upper level person, because I have been unable to get that high in the chain. We all deserve answers, we're out $2200 and have nothing to show for it, and that's a serious issue. -

However, someone was able to buy the V model in Russia way before the W90 was available in America. So maybe they sell both unlisted models elsewhere. -
i wouldn't really say hardware failure till you see the next model or get yours back. check that bios version. a lot of hardware issues come from the bios not being coded correctly.
-
Thats great to hear Striker and im glad you finally got through to the "Right" person and got your issue resolved . How long if any did they say before you would receive your next unit ?.

I, like -=$tR|k3r=- have dealt directly with ASUS and received my RMA moments ago. For the first time i heard the words "sorry" from them. That alone meant a lot to me. I do suggest this route for anyone who still has issues. So now its back to the waiting game for the new unit to arrive once I get the current one in the mail tomorrow. This was the first time as well that ASUS hinted at "hardware related" to me as well. If it makes any difference, I am getting a DOA replacement. I never had to RMA anything before but it sounds as this is a solid way of making sure that you will get a new unit. Mine better be new as I will know , I tag all my good stuff with UV pen SO NO FUNNY STUFF ASUS MAN!
Well, for the first time in over a week I am feeling a bit better about things.. -
Miss Malevolent said: ↑I hope that's a mistake...I hope it is simply tabled for now (more testing). Otherwise it looks like the answer to my question will be very simple instead of difficult.Click to expand...
Same basic machine with different component options.
Just an update on my order...
As of yet it has not shipped, though my credit card company did just call a little while ago to confirm the purchase (Nice to know their actually watching out for fraud).
So depending on where the unit is shipping from, it may or may not get out the door today. Hopefully no later than tomorrow though.
*Getting excited* -

Maybe after you get your new problem free unit, you will remove the question mark from your sig LMAO.
Keep us updated. -
I´m in Brussels, Belgium right now and asked at a local Hardware Shop. Was told the W90VP will launch 31st of March with a T9400, no Blu Ray and 2x320GB for app. 2800 Euro! Expensive! They have it listed under W90VP-UZ003K, if somebody likes to know.

The best way for ASUS to prove they're giving you new machines would be to use GDDR5.
