Calm down I can't break 13200 so consider yourself lucky. I'm sending in my unit for hopefully an exchange tomorrow. 5-8 days
-
Heh, I thought you did it on balanced power... Had you OC'ed to the max whatever it is I bet you could've gotten our 15k+ as well.
-
Nah i put it on high performance, but didn't OC my cpu, and got like 13150 or something.... That was the only 3dmark06 run I could get through without massive screen glitching and flickering.
-
Yes, at 10% kinda got spooked off by that warning you get when you go into that turbo gear application so I didn't set it all the way up. As I stated, sidebar, windows one care and a clean start. I also made sure that I did all the windows updates today as well. I will run it again either later tonight or in the am and will set it to max. I am still going to wait to turn off all the bs services for a little while but each hour brings me closer to it as I am really confident in the unit. Did you install any programss that may be eating away your resources? Also, just to restate, I did not do the reimage, i booted from the box and didn't mess with that.
-
Now I've question to ask, if you guys all seem to suggest that dual core is more practical, then would MSI's GT725 be a better choice for me to get?
I'm off to uni in September; and I could be getting a DTR anytime before then, however the idea of lugging aroung a near 19 inch laptop, while it sure offers great performance/price granted, surely might be... slightly overkill/flashy? it as two of 4850, but I'm begining to question whether I really need that much power, and it sounds rather heavy as well.
I'm also begining to question whether I'll need a DTR; to be honest, a light thinkpad is probably better for my uses, and I can put far more powerful parts into a desktop, instead of being restrainted by disappointingly low clocked mobile quads. Might just end up spending my money maxing out a desktop while taking a thinkpad to the lectures... -
I've been saying it for the year and a half i've been out of college, I should have built a desktop and bought a cheap laptop. Unless you need mobile gaming specifically, it's the best route. -
If your not going take it with you(daily) id grab the W90, if its something you need for class then GT725 might be the better choice. Or do what you said and just get a cheapo NB and build a desktop . My desktop is always tied up doing other crap so im leaning on getting the W90 as i can eventually toss in a QX9300 and get close to my desktop performance and still move it around if needed, but if i had to tote it around(daily) i would not consider it .
-
Ya Turbo gear gave me a hell of a time when i first put my desktop together, it would lock on boot with any profile. since i could do everything from bios it did not bother me i could not use it. in your guys case its the only way to OC so hopefully if that is the issue Asus resolves it quickly as i want to buy one of these Soon .
-
Basically this way, all I have to buy then is another new 7200mah battery for my other Thinkpad T41 to get 5 hours+ battery. Objectively, I'd much prefer raw CPU/HDD performance to graphics, and in this sense, getting i7 rig later in Q3/4 with a big desktop monitor as well would be great, also my eye won't be destoryed by 17/18.4 WUXGA screens anytime soon.
Thanks guys, this realisation probably saved both my wallet and my sanity from high end mobile gear. -
Quick question about ordering on Newegg. How long does it usually take for the status to go from Submitted to Verified to Charged?
I have never ordered off of Newegg before but it has been a couple hours and it's still at Submitted. Normal?? -
Please keep us updated on your findings ...
Thanks

9 Lives only ... -
Madmech it may be because it is your first purchase it's like that, but usually with Newegg if you have shopped there it's about a 2 minute wait. I usually get an email to my phone minutes after placing the order.
They ship really quickly too. They are pretty good. -
the A1 version is also on xoticpc.com now at about the same price.
-
so a1 is gonna take over x1 or x1 stay as a second model ?
-
So, the different between A1 and X1 is the processor type (Quad vs Duo)
Wonder if the T9600 can be upgraded later on...
How is the processor speed of X1 model? -
X1 is what I'm keeping. A 800mhz base speed increase instead of two more cores? I would have to say unless your playing GTA 4 all of the time stick with the X1.
Also the A1 is for pre-order only. -
unless im mistaken, the w90vp-x1 is again available on newegg for $2750 now!
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220503&Tpk=ASUS W90Vp-X1
when did the price go up lol?
I'm a moron...was looking at the canadian webpage.....ignore everything from above -
I am so pissed at EBAY right now. They pulled my auction for my m15x because I had "I reserve the right to end auction early as I have this listed locally"
Violates terms and conditions! as if I read that crap, its like 4 pages long and I am not a lawyer. Arghh -
-
hey -=$tR|k3r=-, is your system running up to par?
-
Striker did you do a benchmark test on your system yet?
-
I wonder how fast the laptop going to be, especially to edit and render videos
It's not available here, but specs always lower here than there in State -
While I applaud your understanding of the relationship between supply and demand, I think you might wish to reread the original post. -
Oh, sorry I didn't read your post
I wonder when it is going to reach Asia...
Here (in my country), most of the notebook spec are a lot lower than those in State, with higher price (differ can be more than 20%), wonder when it appear here... -
It depends where in Asia you're from. Taiwan and HK would probably already have them.
-
HOw bout Indonesia (I actually contact the distributor of MSI, and when I asked the availability of MSI GT725, they say they won't import the product, and they suggest EX400)?
Strange though, even Australia and India have imported the product...
Oh, and I also check the Sager Product, I forgot the model), and the price difference about USD 300-600 to the sagernotebook website...
Maybe if I bought straight from Country like Singapore, I could get cheaper price, only thought of warranty problem... -

GPU Score: 9734
CPU Score: 5455 -
yeah, waiting on the fellas to get the numbers up and running

Thank you. I don't pay attention to Canadian prices, I just remembered it was 27XX. Hmm, that would appear to be more of a fluctuation based on currency exchange, rather than supply and demand in that case.
Newegg tends to go higher than $30 in such cases. -
My Crysis Benchmark has been all errors... I cant even get halfway through the first run. And even downloading and re-downloading the game off Steam has also not gotten me the 64-bit version... Wish Steam would let me choose x64 manually... (sigh)
Edit: No freezes or hangs either, it's actually the benchmark tool... -
It has arrived!!!! Ill unbox and post some pics. Has anyone put together a good way of getting rid of all the bloatware/ norton etc?
-
Congrats!
I would say boot her up, see if you get any errors, and go from there. Just uninstall what you don't want.
If you hang on that DOS Box type application, please write down the name of it (I can't remember what it is off the top of my head) so we can get Asus on the ball about fixing whatever is making these things crash! -
Awaiting arrival...shipped out this morning --> Canada
-
Very nice desktop you have there.
Might want to change the signature to fit within the signature rules though.

Hope this stays isolated lol...I'm gonna be very angry if this happens as I was leaning towards the M17 or M1730 but the price was too much to pass up. 1st Asus product so I hope all is well. -

Ok guys. My baby just came in, she's all opened up and sitting at my desk at work. So far she's booted up fine and installed whatever she needed to install at start up. So far so good. Right now I'm going to uninstall norton and whatever else doesnt need to be. She is way more beautiful in person than her pictures online : )

Congrats on your new machine and glad to hear everything's running well.

Just was wondering how good the 18.4 wuxga screen is on the w90vp.
I have a Sony Vaio AW190 with the 18.4" WUXGA (believe it is the RGB led screen or whatever)...anyways it is the best screen i have ever used, and was wondering how it compares to the one of the Asus (cause i would sure like the ASUS over the sony if the screen is really good).
Thanks

and all the other laptops closed their lids in shame,
for they knew they were dwarfed by it's size and awesomeness!
As they ran for their sleeves and lap bags some looked through their webcams,
and stared at the glory....
and this glory was named......

@Striker
Error still occur? Have you try to update driver of the system maybe? I think they have put around 46 software and driver update in their site for W90P
I'm not sure if updating can solve (BTW, teh ATI Catalyst is V8.5xx, on knowledge, ATI 8.2 and up support ATI Stream, thus GPU can be used for other purpose), maybe you can give it a try (or ask Asus about it)

Well, the New Zealand and Australian Asus sites now have the 18.4" Vn model listed along with the 17" V version... we might be getting somewhere. Still no sign of my preferred Vp model, nor word on availability or price yet.
Enjoying the updates, thanks to the current owners for sharing their experiences. -
No Lockups out of the box ran 3d mark 06 Demo Version Score: 14464

Boy this thing is huge and pretty. -
My payment FINALLY went through (placed order last Saturday) if PayPal was a person, I'd kick him in the nuts. Now all I have to do is wait for them to come back in stock lmao.
Hope to have it next week. -

Nice score jeepstercrazy.
Any W90 owner happen to have both a normal laptop and W90 itself? if its not too much to ask, can you upload a image of thickness comparison? is W90 really 2.5 inch thick?!? thats like, err... huge!
