    Oh yea!
You can use the snipping tool to show temps after running some tests and benchmarks.
    Good luck!
It would be good to show temps for people interested in this laptop.
    GO PATS!

    That's a good question!

So far, only one person has it working - stock 186.40 drivers with Powermizer Switch.

I'm running 187 drivers and Powermizer Switch does not work.

no get HWMonitor Pro, pm for more details regarding trial...it can graph temps and other cool stuff like battery volt info, dock any temp/info to the icon bar and refresh every 1 sec so u dont needa open hwmonitor. also can minimize to toolbar (i know other 3rd party programs can do that), and lastly, has networking capabilities to monitor temps from any other computer thru direct ip adress connection (kinda useless but still...it's there).

and in this whole thread, ppl mention numbers in post, yet no G60 owner has posted a hwmonitor/evga (i would rather see that in-game) screenshot. i would like to see one plz thxs.

it seems as though furmark doesnt have a 64 bit downloader ? ill try to download it anyways. and further most i was just reading about all the overheating problems the older version has had, and i can tell you right now i have no overheat issues at all

edit, ok so i installed furmark, i ran for 10 mins native res, 75 max temps, this was at stock fan speed. (also this card is overclocked with ntools 611mhz gpu clock, memory 899mhz, shader 1439. So im sure if it wasnt overclocked it would stay even cooler.

now i will test with the fans on 70% or so run for a half hour and post screen shots.

PS: who should i use to upload these screen shots ? i couldn`t find an option to upload here

SORRY! had the most hectic day..went to pay mortgage 2000 bucks, pay tuition 1500 bucks....deal with tenant stuff.....priceless.....busy all day.

    1) My friend had wireless issue on new G60, it was fixed by go to intel web site download latest windows 7 driver for INTEL WIFI LINK 5100 AGN driver. It may be a driver that works on more than one device so don't be alarmed to see a driver that works for multiple card. If it doesn't work then I strongly recommend you exchange for a new one. I downloaded all the update within 30-40 mins.

PS: First thing I did was to uninstall trend micro. My trend is engineer at trend micro, they consistently had problem with it on windows 7, It's system hog and not stable. I use microsoft essential free.

    http://www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

then I use CC CLEANER to clean out cache of old files and broken links and registry link here.

    http://www.ccleaner.com/

works well on windows 7 and stable.

Do both of the above after you install and latest intel wifi link 5100 driver. If these don't work well for you, go exchange one. Might have gotten a lemon.

You can upload screenshots here. When posting there is a "manage attachments" buttom you can upload your screenshots to.

Also, you mention "stock fans" and "fans on 70%". What are you talking about? You cannot manually control your fans with Asus machines.

And if you have managed to do so, I invite you to share with the other G60vx users your secret, so they can corroborate.

You are right about the fan speeds, i tried ntools, ntune, riva tuner, i cant find a way to set the gpu speed, as for you cannot manually ctonrl fans with asus machines that is not correct, i own a cg5290 and i manually control the fans just fine. I am sure there is a way around this and once i find a way i will post it. There might be a way in poweruser tab in rivatuner to get it to work. so i will check that as well

going to try a program smartdoctor see if i have any luck with that.

As Forge said you can upload it here with manage attachments at the bottom when you are posting. But if you dont find it, you can always use imageshack, just click browse search for you jpg, and upload, then copy the Thumbnail for forums (1) link and paste it here, probably takes 10sec or less to do it (no need to put image as the link already has the language for the forums to display it).

75C is really great, that would be Sager temps...... on an Asus..... unheard off. But if this is for real, i might just sell mine and get g60.

Btw screen shot the furmark, so we can see the temperature behavior thru the 10min (before you start the test click stability test so it display the graph and if you can have GPUz runign in the background so we can see the clocks). Should be something like,

I can upload a video on youtube if you want. That seems like it might be better if you would like. I`m at work right now so I am unable to do so. Should I do the test longer than 10 minutes ?

I purchased a G60 on day 1 and after reading this thread I had to chime in. Everything Howard says is true! This baby runs amazing out of box. I too cleaned up a few things like trend micro, got all the Win 7 Updates. but not a single tweak to hardware and I am running the shipped nvidia drivers. I play WoW 3 hours or more some times with it on my lap (in bed) and never got too hot. Last night Borderlands for 4 hours, 50+fps

I will try to post some HWMonitor screens tonight.

BTW WoW player above... You know you can copy your entire WoW directory right over off of any computer and it will just run with no issues. Re-Downloading is a waste of time.

jpg, video, what ever you prefer and 10min is more than enough to reach the stabilization temp, you probably gona hit 90C+ so just be careful into monitor the graph. Remember to have before you run it have GPUz runing as well as custom res (1366x768), stability test, and forge likes extreme burning mode.

Any idea of how to take a snapshot or screen cap of furnark on full screen? I press the F9 key that says there but I don't find the screenshot anywhere...

I did a stability test at 1920x1080 for 10 minutes, whent to 92C then high speed fan kicked in and dropped the temp to 90C.

I bet that with a cooler, copper blocks and undervolted I could get awesome results!

    Freetime-
Thanks for the hope. I spent 24hrs downloading WoW again with screwy wifi connection. Are you using your WiFi or an ethernet connection to play and download??? If you are using your WiFi without problems then maybe I should just take this one back...but I will try updating WiFi driver then uninstall Micro Trend AV which I believe is causing problems bigtime.
What AV/security programs are you using?

Howard's sounds good and I was also thinking about downloading trial of Norton's Gaming AV/Internet security 2009...but not being a tech-savy person, Norton's 360 with all it's find and fix stuff has always been my saving grace for dealing with file and registry problems even tho it is a HOG.

I had a problem with my original CD3 going bad, and copying the files didnt work to well, as the way it was manage from vista was different than on xp, so i dl the game from blizzard and all went great. I even redl couple of months after WOTLK was released now the hole game installs from the same file, much faster then using dvds, when i reformat or do install in other machines just use the same file on usb driver. Probably will dl also after cataclysm is included, just so much faster for installing than using dvds. Either way for me was worth it to dl, but if the copy files works for you then thats good.

Thanks a lot for jpg, nice temps btw, by that time already in the 80s. but checking the graph hasn't stabilized yet, but its not climbing too fast either, so idk try to do 1000sec thats almost the full screen of the graph, if can have gpuz in the background, furmark will display the clocks taken them from the gpuz runing in the background.

Im wondering maybe the G60 comes with a different threshold fan starting points, only way i see this behavior now.

Thanks again for posting the pic, hoping to see more when you get home.

It seems like with these drivers installed that the fan seems to come on alot more and seems to kick it right around 70 degrees C. and when it goes on its pretty loud, not sure how reliable the fan is so im kinda of worried about leaving the drivers installed. Before the drivers were installed it seemed to be running very cool also and it was very very quiet, almost silent. Overclocking this thing makes a big big difference in crysis warhead (if anyone wants the script im using for crysis just ask), i am getting 40 fps abouts average. How ever that is not true for the ice level when you drive in the hover craft. Runs at about 26 fps there. enthusaiast NO AA GAMER OBJECTS QUALITY. If anyone wants benchmarks on certain games let me know.

Drivers can affect temps, as its the way the information is handle and rendered, but most of the time temps dont change that much. Im not sure about this, but in a laptop i dont think the video drivers have control on the fan, i would think its more mobo/bios control those.

Well if you can pls run it Furmark (with gpuz) 1000sec or full screen to see where the temp stablizes.

    Bless Your Heart, Howard!
I installed the latest Intel driver for the G60's Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN which helped considerably but was still getting constant "Intetrnet Explorer cannot display this webpage...check your internet connection" for most all web page addresses which could sometime get around by going to IE8 website via my help button on toolbar then putting new address in. Three or four tries got me the driver...and about the same to go to the link you gave for Microsoft's Security Essentials. Uninstalled Trend Micro AV and installed Microsoft Security Essentials and it's running a complete scan now. Things are beginning to really look up and run smoother now.
Have downloaded CCleaner from the link you suggested and am thrilled to discover that it does as much "find and fix" stuff as my Norton 360 did so only thing I am missing there is the remote 'fix-it service' which was really handy from Symantec and came with 360...but Microsoft's SE is FREE, as is CCleaner which is major $$ relief. Accept my gratitude and my humble plea for additional tips to help me determine if this should be returned for exchange.

    Questions:
What bloat/trialware should I remove next?

How do I set up the partitions before I do too many downloads and screw things up?

    Why did they put a 32bit 1366X768 (60Hz) GeForce GTX 260M video card in this 64bit G60-RBBX05?

    Gratefully,
Catzpa PS- I am so grateful that you posted your review link on the BBuy review for this G60VX-RBBX05...I hope you add a warning about the terrible instability created by its onboard free trial of Micro Trend AV ware.

What are you talking about? The GTX 260M is 256bit, and the screen displays at best 18 bit dithered color, even though the Display adapter claims 24bit True Color (Windows 7 actually incorrectly refers to it as 32bit True Color).

first of all, that is NOT overclocked. At all. if anything it is underclocked. I get a max of 60 and an average of 45FPS solid, a min of 40. And while I only tested for 90 seconds, you would have much higher FPS if you were OC'd to the point you mentioned.

Since when is 82 seconds 90 seconds, you nincompoop. FλIL.

Besides the nincompoopness, good catch. I still declare his temperatures shennigans.

I did the test for 10 minutes before maxing out at 88C and dropping to 81C. MY FPS never dropped below 38, and my average FPS was 45, max being 63. I am also undervolted with ICD7 thermal paste. so YMMV. The FPS should be similar though.

Well unfortunately my temps are high just like the G51's. I was hoping it would be better but no such luck.

lolsauce, finally the satisfaction of G51 users...too bads fo the G60 ppl. jk, but dun worry man, G51/G60 is still surviving, its the matter of when its gonna fail, we have yet to see a gfx card related failure. we need to stop worrying about the temps so much...for now that is. all these ppl are doing mods and such, what if my laptop last me the 3 yrs i wanted it to, without these mods? the only time ima mod it is after teh warranty is up, i see no reason to lose my warranty just for the satisfaction of cooler temps.
