Yeah... that is my concern as well which is why I had to cancel. Does anyone know about how long it takes to get a refund?... They are already closed for the day (so wont be able to call). I am really cutting this close...hehe.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I paid via Paypal e-check.

I'd like to add for E.B.E. i think it was that i added my old hard drive from my old laptop, and it works just fine i just popped it into the second slot didn't change a single thing in bios or anything and it works, windows recognizes it and all, im just reformatting it to clean it up.

    just to add its a
    80GB 5400rpm SATA

Alright, then the other user reporting problems with 2nd HDD on the g50v-x was an isolated case.

    Thanks for the info.

(I deleted your other post on the G50Vm-X1 BB thread, no need to post twice).

sooo oh well it works =]
i now have, about 251 GB of total storage, not taking into account what i already have filled up.

I am in the exact same position. Do you guys think I should take the risk of ordering another computer before I get my refund? Basically should I feel safe that Xotic will refund my order hassle free?

Well I am in the process of getting my refund from XoticPC for the Sager NP8660. They said it was mailed out Monday evening, and I should have it by the end of this week or the first of next week. Haven't gotten it yet so I'm guessing I'll get my check back Monday or Tuesday of next week.

I paid with a debit card so I'm not sure how long it will take, but you don't think I will have any issues with the refund? I would just hate to order another computer and then run into trouble getting my money back.

You shouldn't have any issues whatsoever. A credit card refund takes about 3-5 business days, plus you're dealing with XoticPC so rest assured they'll take care of you as soon as possible.

Well, I'm loving this thing so far. It overclocks very easy, stable, and cool through setfsb 2.1.70.0 with pll code ICS9LPR363DGLF. I have my T9400 set at 3223.9mhz with an idle temp of 34 degrees celsius.

Man I'm gonna go to town when the X9100 arrives. I am shooting for 3.6 ghz stable and cool, we'll see when that time comes.

Well back to installing things. I'll be setting it up as a triple dual boot so it may be awhile.

RAID is using identical harddrives to boost efficiency there are a couple of types, the most common type is RAID-0 if you have two drives, basically it splits the data into parts and distributes them to each hdd, but if one HDD fails all your data is lost... RAID-1 is basically just using one hdd to backup the first hdd so if one fails, the other still has all the data. There are more types than that but they all require more than 2 identical hdd's. Thats raid in a can I guess, except this stuff doesnt kill bugs lol

Raid is disabled from the factory and the hard drives are independent of each other. You can choose to enable it manually.

Also I canceled with Xotic. Not their fault but they couldn't give me an eta so I couldn't risk the wait.

You can do RAID 0 (1 big 500GB HD) or RAID 1 (Appears as 1x250GB but mirrors and protects your data).

On the top of the G50-A1, there are the three blue lights and the Logo that lights up. Can you turn them all off?

maybe this has been answered already, but if I order a G50V from GenTechPC tomorrow afternoon sometime (when my deposit finally clears) when would they ship it? Next Day? I would pretty much be getting the standard loadout + another battery and adapter cable.

All high was too slow for my taste the benchmark did not give me numbers that I was happy with (like 22fps average). All Medium ran very well nearly twice as fast (40fps).

In the end I actually ended up installing the Triple C pack and using the 2nd lowest setting the one that said "low-mid end" its a custom config that puts me right at 30fps average so just between what medium & high would have and the visual effects so far seem like high or better. Plus it comes with the TOD mod that you can install (time of day) and I choose to install it too so playing thru the game a 2nd time now and its like a different game since the time has been shifted, the whole start mission for instance is in the dead of night. Maybe I will take a few screen shots for you here in a sec.

It was darker than this, apparently the sun started to come up and it was daylight shortly after I took this pic as I entered a new part of the game.

I just ordered mine off of Newegg, I should be getting it today (hopefully). Newegg is based in California somewhere so they ship to San Diego (where I live) either the next day or the same day for the standard 3 day price depending on when you place your order. I'll most likely be writing a review (not that there is any shortage of reviews for this laptop :)) but this is actually my first laptop, so I'm really excited!

My G50V-B2 is here. Its a little larger then I was expecting but doesn't seem to heavy. I'll have to run out at lunch and pick up a blu-ray disc and try it out since I don't own any. I did notice their initial partion of the drives seems quite dumb. I can understand the the OS on part of drive 1 and the 2nd partition empty. But the 2nd drive is split into two partitions also. Not sure why since they are both empty.

Also there doesn't seem to be a way to distinguish it from the A1 expect for the sticker on the front that says Blu-ray inside and that the HD's are 200 gigs each.

I pre-ordered my G50 1.5 weeks ago from Gentech. Im going to vacation on 21st so the time was tight. I have already accepted that i wont have my laptop before the vacation. But Gentech was so nice (Ken) they upgraded my ups postage to 2nd day air for FREE and if its not enough they also granted me a free external HDD :) So im going to have my g50 on 20th of august. Thats cool :)

I have done many online orders so far but I have not met any company where the customers important that much to them until now. Gentech is awesome :)

Gentech: five * out of five :)

Ok just an update on the Blu-Ray. This laptop comes with WinDVD 8 - Blu-Ray 2CH addition. I ran out during lunch and picked up Beowulf on Blu-Ray. Looks pretty dang good, though I guess without watching side by side with a DVD I can't really judge since I haven't even watched a normal DVD on this laptop yet.]

Edit* Also the resolution is lower then true Full HD on these laptops.

Sounds good. If you could comment on the wifi performance and the hard drive speeds that would be great. A few people have mentioned that the wifi card in the G50 is worse than the 4965 wifi card so I want to know if it's a significant decrease in performance.

The A2 came with lightscribe software and drivers installed but under system information it says no lightscribe drive detected. I'm not sure if ASUS just screwed up or this is software they just put on all versions of the G50.

I have a DIR(655) Wireless N router at home, I'll test how well it works tonight.

For the display the options it gives you are:

    (Real-time messages)
    MSN Message
    Meeting
    Mail

    (Fixed Message)
    Memory
    CPU
    Note

Im going to test lightscribe tonight. I swear I saw the lightscribe cotnrol panel and also saw it on the stats of the notebook but I have not actually done a lightscribe label yet.

So I will make sure 100% if it has it or not later.

I just started using it on my desktop so maybe I had them confused. Its a neat little thing but the disks cost so much more :(
