It would fit but IceTea says that the Asus cards are not compatible (it doesn't boot).

Ken, could you post the gddr3 chips reference ?? I know that the g1s uses QIMONDA HYB18H512321AF-14 and i cannot use 900MHZ stable. Unless the chips are diferent or the gpu onboard bios, I do not understand how you can run stable @900mhz. Also @600gpu on the g1s you put the shadders @ 1200mhz and atitool 3dview makes the card crash/desktop artifacts @ more or less 90º, not 103º ! Any feedback would be nice.

Just for notice i'm using 163.69 with bios overclock

MXM Cards need to be recognized with the bios. If the IFL uses the same screw/fan design and the manufacturer's of the IFL90 card is Asus. it might work

I'm not sure what you're saying. The VBIOS for MXM cards are carried on the card itself. Both the Compal IFL90 and the Asus C90s appear to have standard MXM-II video cards, so I don't see what the problem would be.

IcedTea (?) tried it on his MXM II Asus that had a 7600, and it didn't work. He said he even had difficulties putting the FANS on it because of screw design

    He tried the C90S'.

He asked ExcaliberPC and they said they didn't know, and that could RMA with no no penalties if it didn't work. It didnt at the end.

It just didn't boot. This is all I can tell.

Can anyone finally tell me if the G1S card is the same form factor (reverse MXM) as the V1S one (even if it is a bit OT)? I posted a picture of the V1S card but nobody among the G1S owners can take a look at their card.

I believe there's a thread on this over at the MXM forums (I think that's where it was), they appeared to be the same form factor, but to the best of my knowledge no one's tried switching them yet.

And as far as I know, the A8Js (and likely the forthcoming F8S) used this same form factor for the GPU as well.

When the G1s came out, there were talks of trying to swap that card into the A8Js. GenTech PC said it wouldn't work due to the BIOS, but it doesn't seem to be too difficult in theory...Just boot into VGA mode and get the proper drivers.

Actually, I'm interested in seeing whether the A8Sc uses the same reverse-MXM for the GPU. If it does, I'll buy. It makes sense that it would, since the previous gen A8J does, and the current gen F8S probably will, but its not been confirmed, so I don't know for sure.

Well, there is a 8500GT and a rumored 8600GS for it. Althout the 8600M GS and the 8500M GT are the same spec-wise so I assume it's the same card. (8600M GS is G86M, not G84M)

funny how the c90s scored lower than the 1720 seeing how they're both ddr2.

    c90s is 512mb and 1720 is 256.
    c90s is e6700 and 1720 is t7300.

The 1720 was probably in 1024x768. Or maybe the Dell's clocked at 520/400 rather than 450/400

    link?

the 1720 from this is running gddr3 vid card, while c90s is running gddr2. The c90s now has the gddr3 card...what are the scores? I'll run it on mine when I get it Friday, after installs.

    Sometime.

Canadian store just got their first batch of C90S lol.

You can still order from the US, excaliberpc.com offers USPS shipping so you are free of brokerage fees (USPS/CP charges $5 versus $40-70). Shipping is about $20 and you'll have to pay GST at arrival.

I guess it would still be better, since I doubt canada will have it for $245 even if $$ are the same, more like $280 IMO

Cause i Suspect the 8600GDDR3 to be about 250-270 dollars CND, since the 8600DDR2 is about 185 CND.

Ouch..250. Definitely not worth the upgrade considering I could buy 5-6 games and still enjoy them especially with the great amount of games coming out this fall rather then turn a few settings up and have my current game collection. COme on 87/8800.

I believe the reference was to a next generation nVidia 9600M-GT.

Since you mentioned it, has there been any further info on whether the HD2600XT will fit in the MXM-II envelope, or are we most likely looking at a normal MR HD2600 (as I suspect) ?

Anyone with the GDDR3 8600M GT want to post temp. My card is idling at about 83-85 degree's and goes well into the mid 90's++ at times.

Crappo! Looks like I hit my 1st snag, I can't run 3Dmark06 without GPU lock ups ald total run away fans, forcing a hard reboot/shutdown. No BSOD just a total hang, very familar while OCing except I get this at stock speeds.and this doesn't even get through the first test. Not a good sign.
