I have a ton of devices not found. I went to the drivers page last night and was installing some of the drivers. Now it seems that the page doesnt work anymore. I go to the support tab and there are no more drivers. Is the page gone now, or am I just too tired to see straight?? lol Ive looked all over for it

Edit:
I was going to ask about ssd benchmarks, then I decided not too since it wasnt really the appropiate thread, I guess they attached anyways and I Can't figure out how to get rid of attachments. So do they look ok? first pic was with no optimization, then I did the fixes.. then when I opened up samsungs ssd app it said my pc was configured for regular hard drive so I did their tweaks and the last pic is my final result.

How can I find out if my ux32vd isn't as bright as it used to be at 100%? Compared to my iphone, there's no contest that the zenbook's whites just aren't bright at all

UX32VDA: v203 is the latest BIOS update
UX32VD: v214 is the latest BIOS update
My guess is that you were trying to do what I was, which is apply v214. Most likely v203 is what you need (if you're not already running it).

After installing the drivers for 8.1 it made my sytem sooooooo slow. I formatted and installed windows 8.0 this time. The flash utility worked, all the drivers installed and my laptop is still fast.
So it didnt like windows 8.1 for some reason. -
Hi guys ,
I'm going to tell you my story with my UX32VD - r4002p .
About a month ago my pc slipped and accidentally its original case is dented the cover of the keyboard, as in the image:
Since the PC has the kasko guarantee , have sent notebook to asus to provide for the repair paying of 50 .
Yesterday arrived the PC from the company that works for asus , the SIRPEL , they have changed the damaged part , but they have also changed the motherboard even though it was not necessary , because mine was perfect and had no problem.
Now, when booting the PC, even after it is turned off for a long time , the temperature is 80 ° and starts with the fan until it drops to about 50 ° . Yesterday, after about 5 hours it was working it shout down suddenly (without giving bluescreen) as if I had cut the power. He did not want to start even more after about 4-5 times that i pressed the power button until then it turned on again .
In addition, the usb charger plus it only works with one a USB port ,from the other port not work, is this normal?
For curiosity I took off the bottom cover to see how it was done the work and I noticed that the security seal is damaged, it would not have had to put a new seal?
In addition, the version of the bios of the motherboard that they have put is the 214 while in the originally my mainboard I had the 213 and the entries "fast boot" and "launch csm " are no longer present , is this normal?
Why do they have removed my motherboard that was perfect ? I can not figure it out!
What do you advise me to do? -
It sounds like the heatsinks aren't making contact correctly. I would try repasting the CPU/GPU and just make sure the heatsink is making proper contact with the GPU and CPU chips.
The USB charging option is supposed to just be for the one port with a little lightning bolt next to the USB trident, so that is correct.
Not sure about the 214/213 problem though. -
three finger swipe back/forward decided to stop working today on my ux32vd. Didn't update anything, still on factory settings and win8.
Doesn't work in Steam, Chrome, Firefox, but does however work in Internet Explorer and image viewers!
completely reinstalled Smart Gesture as well as various elantech drivers, all to no avail.
I know the Asus Smart Gestures knows I have 3 fingers on the touchpad, as the notification tray graphic shows 3 little blue dots.
The "Three Fingers Setting" has everything checked. Swipe up/down still works
Anyone have an idea? I'd like to return to browsing the web by swiping back/forward instead of constantly using the browser's buttons
edit: perhaps it has something to do with an update on the browser-end? Some people have been having the same issue

I just found and solved a problem I've been having with my Zenbook:
My display brightness used to change on battery only depending on what was onscreen. ie: when the screen was dark (displaying dark colors), the brightness would creep up, and when it was bright (displaying bright colors) it would creep down. This is NOT the same as adaptive brightness, which measures the ambient brightness and adjusts accordingly. This is instead due to Intel DPST, which is a setting only available if you have Power4Gear.
If you have this problem and do not want Power4Gear installed, you must do the following:
1) Install Power4Gear Hybrid. Restart.
2) Go to Power Options -> Change advanced power settings
3) Under group for P4G settings, there is an option for Intel DPST. Turn it off for both "battery" and "plugged in." Click apply.
4) Repeat 3 for every power scheme.
5) Set the power scheme to balanced.
6) Uninstall Power4Gear Hybrid. Restart.
That will get rid of any wandering brightness issues. Hope this helps someone. -

Newegg dropped the price to 849.99 on their ebay account. The normal website still shows 949.99 (down from the 1049.99 price they had for a while)
I could have swore it said more than 10 available at 8am this morning but now says limited quantities so I pulled the trigger 20 minutes ago.

Hi guys,
I've reinstalled win7 on my 3001x a couple of days ago (core i5 3317u), and except from problems with some drivers (like the latest one for the hd4000....awfull drivers), I am still having that super annoying problem that the screen (randomly) is off when I start the computer
When I formatted windows the first time I couldn't even proceed because no matter what I did I couldn't get the screen back on. So another format. And that was so irritating.
My question is: is there any blxxdy solutions??

Hey,
Does anyone know how to invert the Fn function keys?
eg. to increase volume I need to press fn+f12(volume icon) but I want to just press the f12 key. (To acually send the f12 key I press fn+f12)
Thanks! -
Is it worth buying this thing nowadays (i5+10gb+hd screen) for mediocre gaming? Mainly for TF2, NFSW, Loadout, Blacklight R. and maybe Titanfall (low settings are enough)

BTW, I forgot to update you guys.
I did a Win8.1 upgrade.. everything work 99% fine without any need to re-install drivers. I just had to adjust font style due the "blur" issue on Chrome browser. -

Could anyone suggest how long a warranty extension should I purchase on a ux32vd.

Warranty extension is usually about risk vs cost, how long do you need the machine to last and when do you think you would replace it normally?
-
I was basically looking for an opinion about the time period too.
Though, I like this machine and have basic gaming needs, so I would like to keep this machine for say a total of 3.5 - 5 years.
The warranty extensions though probably wont work beyond 3 years. -

In the end, you may only get a partial refund for your system or the fee for the extended warranty. -
Guys I need some help.
I have a few questions:
upgraded to 10GB ram and 256GB SSD.
I want this laptop to replace my current desktop so I am going to buy an external hdd and 2 external monitors and a usb hub to put it all on.
I want something like this:
CalDigit Thunderbolt⢠station
anyone know anything i can buy like that?
I also want to push everything to two external monitors
Also any good monitors under $200?
Also I want to do a fresh install of windows again.
What drivers should I be downloading? I don't want any bloatware from asus. -
The Zenbook doesn't have Thunderbolt, but you can push 2 external monitors by plugging one into the mini display port and one into the HDMI. I believe Ivy Bridge allows 3 simultaneous monitors at once (internal+external), and if you need more you can use a USB 3.0 to VGA or HDMI adapter, which is considerably more expensive and will run without hardware acceleration.
But to keep it simple, just use HDMI and the mini display port and you can drive a monitor with each. -
I know this but I want to use it on a docking station.
I want something like this: Amazon.com : Plugable UD-3900 USB 3.0 Universal Docking Station with Dual Video Outputs for Windows 8.1, 8, 7, XP (HDMI and DVI/ VGA to 2048x1152, Gigabit Ethernet, Audio, 2 USB 3.0 Ports, 4 USB 2.0 Ports, 4A AC Power Adapter) : Laptop Computer Docki
but people told me it won't work with the discrete graphics because displaylink won't allow it.
I'm trying to replace my desktop with this laptop and make it easy to get up and go with it. -

Hi guys,
after I sent my notebook in rma and was replaced the motherboard, I have a continuous on-off effect of the fan, which it seems to me that I had not before. Fan noise is added to the constant noise of the hard disk.
The on-off effect of the fan is continue. I want to know if it is normal and if you too have this problem.
I made an audio recording of the noises by using an iphone, placing next to the laptop on the left side.
Here's the link:
http://we.tl/wJrMieYOaQ
Point out while I had recorded only open chrome.
The temperature are from 45 to 55-58° while recording. -
I've had this laptop for a few weeks and so far it's great. The mushkin 8GB and 840 Pro have been collecting dust and I'm about to put them in soon.
My question is, should I thermal paste while I have it open, or should I leave it alone?
PS I'm probably not going to overclock this thing. -
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
If you have thermal paste around you might as well. But they dont really have overheating issues so you wouldn't need to go out of your way to do so.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
If your current temperatures are fine then why fix something that is not broken?
-
Yeah I'm with Meaker, I'd just leave things alone if temps are fine, unless you're really picky about repasting it yourself. You won't notice much of a difference and risk making worse contact than you already have.
-
Thanks for the advice guys, I'm going to leave the thermal paste alone.
Playing C&C 3 on high settings is a little bit of a workout for it, but it doesn't get hot or anything.
Now lets see what is does when I put Adobe Premiere Pro CC on it this weekend. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Heh, well it should not stress the system too much compared to a game, though I suppose it may depend how much GPU acceleration you can get going.

Hi all.
I have now after a long period of waitning, finally upgraded my ux32vd.
I upgraded to a samsung 840 evo 250gig and 8gig ram (Kingston ValueRAM 8GB DDR3 PC-12800 1600MHz CL11 (KVR16S11/8))
Installing the SSD and Ram went quite smoothly and I used the Samsung Data Migration software to clone the old HDD. But after that I decieded to factory reset my computer with the recovery image i made with ASUS Backtracker before I upgraded from the HHD to a SSD.
So I have now the factory reset my zenbook and it has now all the original drivers and bloatware. What I am now wondering is which programs I should uninstall? Because I don't want the Sandisk iSSD to chache/henche being a bottleneck, since I guess my samsung evo will be faster than the sandisk.
So should I then uninstall expresschache, Intel rapid storage technology or any other programs to improve the performance? I have windows 8 installed ( it came preinstalled with 8.0 when I first bought it.
Appreciate the help -
So, after a year and a half of owning my UX32VD, the stupid little gold power pin on the power jack of the laptop broke off. And since it only had a 1 year warranty I got screwed, and my laptop was only as good as the charge left in the battery. So, instead of paying Asus whatever ridiculous amount for them to probably install a new Mobo, I decided I'd order a power jack for 10 bucks and try my luck soldering it in place of the old one. I have decent soldering skills and taking it apart is easy, it was a little trouble getting off the old solder, but with enough time and soldering wick I was able to get all the pins out. I soldered on the new jack and put it all back together. Plugged it in and it has power, success right? Well, not so much. The power button works but when I turn it on the screen stays black and the caps light button stays lit with the power button. You can hear the fans spin up but nothing else happens unless I hold the power button to turn it off. Any ideas on what might be happening? Did I just fry the Mobo? If that's the case I'll probably just buy a new mobo online (I saw they were ~$200), but I'd like to see if I could still trouble shoot it. Any help is appreciated.
-
Dude,
Mother boards like this are very sensitive an they usually use special solders with lower heat and lower power then we´re used too use (I also have some micro electronics soldering experience). The problem is that, depending on your solder power, you probably fry something else during the removal of the old power jack and soldering the new one. I wouldn't try to do some stunt like you did, just because I've seen a friend with the same issue before (and the result was the same). Bus is understandable because Asus usually tells you to replace the HOLE MOTHER BOARD because of that (that´s why we tried to pull that stunt). Honestly, I don´t know what else you can do. -
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk -
Mine fell of the table while charging and landed on the charging port; the pin snapped off also. I bought the $10 replacement on ebay and just soldered it myself instead of spending hundreds to send it to them.
It sounds like there may be a lose connection to the ribbons on your motherboard. You should try re-seating all of them to rule that out.
If that doesn't work make sure that there are no shorts in your soldering job. If you don't have a multimeter pick one up, you can find decent ones on amazon for $10-20. Put it on continuity check and make sure all adjacent pins are not connected. This doesn't sound like it's your problem but you never know.
Also make sure that the solder is touching the traces of the motherboard by the pin. I had issues with solder balling up and not sticking to the motherboard and I wouldn't get a complete connection. The center pin causes me the most trouble I have to go in there and re-solder it every now and then.
It's probably unlikely you fried a critical component on the motherboard, the AC power pin is pretty isolated.
AC adapter ASUS used on this laptop is not very durable. It is easy to put torque on the AC adapter while plugged in putting stress on the soldering joints on the motherboard. I hope they change this on future models, i can see this being the first thing to go on many zenbooks causing a small fortune to fix for those that don't feel comfortable putting a soldering iron to a $1000+ computer.

Hey guys!
I recently bought my ux32vd and loving it!
But i have a question about the temps of the cpu, which when idling is around 50 degrees. Is that normal? I've seen someone post that they where idling around 40-45 degrees.
And when im gaming, the cpu will go up and stay at around 79-82 degrees, and getting like burning hot under it, so hot that it is uncomfortable having it on my lap. Im unsure if this would damage the cpu over time.
It is the i7 version.

Hi.
I hope someone of you expirenced users can help me. I bought my ux32v just this monday, didnt even have a chance use it properly.
It was bought in Zurich, Switzerland and in specification it has i7, FHD, and 256 Gb SanDisk SSD. It does not have internal iSSD. It has Windows 8 on it.
What went wrong? After initialization, I started Windows update and there was like 800 Mb of it. Since I was leaving Zurich, I let it do full update on my train to Italy. It took more than 4 hours. Everything looks fine at that point. Did put it into sleep at one point, and when I came home and try to connect to local WiFi it just gave me BSOD that say something like "Your PC run into a problem and need to restart ..." and it did.
After that this message just keep repeating after Asus logo and ultrabook goes into boot loop. I Have tried so many things to revive it but:
- Clicking F9, or F5 or shift+F8, or F8 does nothing, it just continue to boot loop,
- Have used many Linux and DOS based tools from bootable USBs, and from all of them a can see partitions and files on the SSD. When I try to make some changes like delete or format they just give some kind of disk I/O error.
- Fresh instalation of Win 8 or 7 just crash after initialization.
- Ubuntu works in Live mode, but can't install itself. Even can connect to WiFi.
Don't know what else to do. Is it possible that SSD died after 4 hours of instaling updates, or maybe it is motherboard?
Will not go to Zurich in next few months, so my warranty is useless. If it is just SSD I gues I could buy new one and install it.
Please help. -
Wow that sounds really weird... If it's crashing from within Linux I would think it really is a hardware problem, (something wrong with the SSD?) instead of a software problem. It is odd that you were able to get it to boot and do updates, though. When does it restart? While the Windows 8 login appears? Or before that, when the Windows/Asus logo appears?
-
Thank you for reply.
There is Windows 8 logo and small cirle that spin for few seconds, than goes BSOD with :-( and the long message "Your PC..." "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME" for 2 seconds, then it reeboots again.
I tried with ssd S.M.A.R.T. analysis from one of bootable USBs, and it indicates helth of the disk critical with 25% value.
I'm ready to open it and put new SSD, but now I see on the net there are some vesions of Zenbook that have non-standard connectors.
On the back of the machine it is engraved UX32V and in BIOS it is UX32VD. Do you know is my SSD replaceable with EVO 7" SSD?
This is almost my worst nightmare.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk -
This is madness. I have open it and there is a small SSD card on the adapter board. Connectors on the board are the standard ones. I went to to shop and purchased 120 giga Samsung EVO. Open the case, loosen the battery, and swapped SanDisk X100 with brand new SSD. At this point my hopes are getting high.
Power on, and there is another shock. BIOS is not recognizing the new SSD. Tried to change some options, nothing. Tried to install Windows 8, it boots from the USB and after few initial questions ask for the drive to be installed to. Obviously can't find it since BIOS is not reporting it. At this point I'm back to desperate.
Just to be sure, I have reinstalled original SanDisk SSD again, and it is recognized by BIOS and start to boot, then there is that BSOD again and system reboots.
I really do not have any more ideas. Anyone? -

I have a problem with my 1 year old ultrabook. The socket has become increasingly loose and I finally sent it in for a guarantee repair. Asus now claims that the problem was caused by force and refuses to repair it free of charge. Not only that, they claim that it will be necessary to replace the motherboard at my cost. Ridiculous! I was able to charge the notebook until I finally sent it away simply by finding the right angle and applying some pressure to the connection. Searching the internet I find several repair services who will replace the socket for under some 80$.
Is this socket a generic weakness of the Asus UX32VD? Seems pretty flimsy!
Is the replacement of the motherboard Asus standard procedure as an expensive "quick fix"?
Thanks for your comments, Bwana -
Windows 8 (core) VS Windows 8 pro
Hi, I am wondering if there is any downside with doing a clean installation on the zenbook with Windows 8 pro? I know that the computer came with windows 8 core, but I can't find a legit ISO for windows 8 core, so I "bought" a windows 8 pro iso and licence from Dreamspark.
All the drivers from asus that work for windows 8 core should work as well on windows 8 pro right?
