What is your current CPU? I think the temperature issues are caused by the GPU rather than the CPU, so you might want to try to repaste your laptop with better thermal paste such as IC Diamond etc.
-
Currently I got the 2410m, but an upgrade (as mentioned above) is planned in the near future. Current idle temps are <48c for cpu and <44c for the gpu. I will order the IC Diamond and see how it goes.

hi All,
I have gotten this laptop since March.
All is well until recently after i bought a bluetooth headset.
the problem is on the lappy there is no bluetooth software !!!
explore thru the installation CD found Intel Bluetooth program and intel bluetooth3.0+ driver and the wifi driver
but however after installing all 3 the blue tooth still not working
bluetooth driver was install in device manger and show ok
and the intel program install without notifying further problem.
but cannot find any bluetooth software to do syn
go the program(X86)\intel\bluetooth
tried to run the program there but hang....
any suggestion is much appreciated. -
As I see there's been a number of new driver updates recently I am wondering if it is recommended to install all these as long as I don't have any issues with my hardware? Following the 'if it's not broke don't fix it' logic... I mean, there seems to be a slight chance things will be messed up after updating drivers, eg. I had to run a complete windows disc back up after some unsuccessful driver installs a while ago.
-
I never got an idea how to open it. -
-
won't the service center would do it for free (without charge at all), as long as it's still under warranty? -
Btw, I noticed in CPU-z there's 4 memory slot option.
How do I get to the other 2 slots? The small cover in the bottom only exposes 2 slots -
I have repasted the CPU/GPU and bought a laptop cooler (Zalman NC1500) as well. But it still does very little to my overheat issues. So I'm suspecting that something else my be at fault here. There was barely any dust on the motherboard as well as the heatsink which looked like new when I first opened it up.
Any other leads to why the system goes whack after a certain degree? -
Try making a hole below the fan (doesn't put a vent below the fan) using dremel. Or if you don't want to do that, lift the keyboard (there's locking pins in the upper portion) the fan will have an opening right below the Q (or W) key.
With stock paste and an i5 2450 @2.9GHz, GT 630M core/mem at 800/1700 it brings down CPU temp from 90 to 83 and GPU from 86 to 78. -
I'm currently on a very slow connection so uploading anything is a pain in the a$$. As for guidance and such, just unscrew everything you can except for the sd card slot module and the one above it. Remember to unplug the power and monitor cables before removing the mobo.
As for the heatsink/fan, remove the fan(power)-cable and unscrew said screws that are visible. Keep a good place for these screws so you don't end up missing anything when assembling everything back together.
I have decided that it's not worth upgrading this laptop, so I'm currently waiting for Asus N46VZ (which is essentially v2 of U46SV) since re-pasting/getting a laptop cooler didn't help at all.
edit: Suddenly about 2 hours ago, the thermal paste finally gave in, so I'm going around 10c cooler now than before which makes a huge difference. -
Are you supposed to unscrew everything on the bottom plate or is the screws below the keyboard required to be opened? Because there's one screw below the keyboard that has the asus warranty sticker
-
-
._. 50 screws, I will go to the ASUS service center then...
By the way, my USB 3.0 doesn't work with 2.0 devices, any fix, I have the proper driver installed -
It reminds me of my story. I used to re-paste my TOSHIBA Satellite M300. It had around 40 screws or so just to get into the heatsink and remove it so it could get re-pasted. So re-pasting was done and it worked perfectly (well, to some sort of degree). But then I realized that I was wasting my time doing it...
Since then, I have no intention of doing it again by myself, unless, of course, it's extremely needed. -
Hey, since my Asus N43SL comes with 2x 2Gb RAM I wanted to upgrade the RAM to 6 or 8Gb RAM. Can anyone tell me if the notebook supports DDR3-1600Mhz RAM?
I was considering using that instead of 1333.
I am going to upgrade the RAM and add a Crucial m4 SSD, and then stick with this laptop one more year. -
I'll get around to updating the drivers list also, left it as it was for way too long. Probably by next week, have been super busy with a lot of things -
have anybody tried SetFSB on this laptop?
would like to raise BLCK to 105 or higher
EDIT: Using latest free version clock generator reads ICS9148BF-26 -
I am doing a ppt to guide people who wants to repaste the GPU/CPU or just disassemble the computer for fun.
It will be done this week for sure! -
Here is the GUIDE!
How to Disassemble Your N43 Series -
Btw, do you spot 2 ram slot or 4? CPU-z says there's 4 slot available
EDIT: Damn warranty sticker :L I have one below the keyboard screws -
As for warranty stickers, slide a flat head screwdriver underneath and carefully peel it off. You should be able to do this without damaging the sticker -
-
-
Just wondering, how does your warranty sticker look?
-
-
Still scared though -
new thermal pasta huh.
i got same interrupt problem like you
but i still haven't solved it, only know even better what this notebook weakness
i found that the interrupt only happen when intel turbo boost is on
4 core 8 HT core running on multiplier 26/27
thats mean 110%/120% frequency
when i play game i tried to disable core 1 and 2 or disable turboboost
hardware interrupt never arise but i feel slightly mortified
whaiiiiiiiiiiii......
its not like i bought this notebook to shut off 2 core to play game
or disable turbo boost to get 8 core but running only 2.0GHz
leave it aside
i hope repasta will solved this -
Hardware Interrupt issues has not been solved. My only concern was the high temp (95c) vs the now 85c.
IB laptop CPUs + TB = bad combo imo.
edit: Hardware interrupts don't seem to happen if CPU stays below 85c~, so I strongly recommend using ThrottleStop and finding your "weak spot". Mine seems to be 20x multiplier (2Ghz). -
Hi guys,
My screen (LED) Bezel(the black part around the led) is scratched badly?
i'm really worried!
what can i do? -
helo, im new in here, my laptop is asus n43sl with spec intel i5, gt540m 2gb, ram 4gb, well that just i buy 3 weeks ago, first i do everything in this laptop smoothly until i get virus that will crash every deafult program and i don't know anything to do, so i format it, and reinstalling with my friend's windows 7 ultimate 64 bit acer & dell oem, when i start life frame it says''only work on asus laptop'', and i can't turn the volume with fn+f11/12, so i must turn the volume with the sound menu in the taskbar, and when i use the power 4 gear hybrid using the "high performance" it will turn back to quiet office, so what should i do to fix this lovely laptop? please anyone help me
--------------
anyway, sorry for my bad english -
The Win7 OEM will have problems with an ASUS laptop, since it's from Acer/Dell. Don't use other brand's OEM edition of Win7
I am running Win7 64B Ultimate retail edition here, I have no problems with LiteFrame or other ASUS utilities. You might try reinstalling the Win7 that came with your laptop (ASUS OEM Win7)
Download keyboard filter from the ASUS website, it should fix your keyboard function issue
Go to the battery icon in the lower right corner of screen (Win7 tray), click on it and select "more power option"
A window will pop up, there will be a selection in the left side of the window. Select the "High Performance" -

hi there.. im new here, and with slightly new N43SL..im wondering why my elan touchpad does not come with pinch/zoom/rotate functions. so i tried installing the driver posted at the first page of this forum. but still doesnt have those functions. any idea? thanks.

Can I upgrade my CPU from i3 to i7?
-
-
To disassemble it follow the guide here
Also check if your heat sink is the same as i7 configuration.
Good luck! -
Thanks Skrilin5
Btw can I upgrade to i7-2820QM? I checked Asus bios site, it only has bios that supports i7-2670QM. -
I think it is related to the turbo mode which is 1100 MHz for 2670 and 2630 QM. Higher and the mobo may not handle it.
Maybe somebody else's point of view? -
Somebody ought to do a BIOS mod for this ASUS N43SL/N/M
Turn off the damned BD PROCHOT and disable throttling before 100c (
Because my i5 2450 throttles at 90 and above @_@), and probably volt mod the 540M/630M to enable 1V on the core

help please...
my n43sl bluetooth suddenly unable to pair with my nokia bh-503 (headset)
usually it takes less than 30 seconds to paired with the headset, but now it just stuck at the configuring bluetooth services..
and it also like that when i try to pair it with my phone..
i'm using win 7 64 bit & widcomm 6.5.1.2500
------Edit------
ah... nevermind, i solved it already..
should shut down the notebook & turn it on again rather than just restarting it... -
Fan control works on the N43SM (bios .209 (ASUS Official), flashed with winflash)

Hello ASUS User,
I have ASUS N43SL with 4GB RAM. I'd like to upgrade to 16GB RAM (8GB RAM each slot).
Is that possible?
If that's possible, I plan to upgrade the RAM with CORSAIR Memory Notebook 2x8GB DDR3 PC-12800 [Vengeance CMSX8GX3M1A1600C10]. Is that matching with ASUS N43SL Spesification? Are there any drawbacks, etc?
Really need your opinions.
Thanks in advance. -
But you're welcome to try one 8GB stick and see if it boots -
Need your help. -
If it boots on BIOS .209 (single stick), try a 2nd stick.
After installing second stick, if it works, then it is OK. If not read possible causes below
-Not updating BIOS
-Updated BIOS still doesn't want to boot= 16GB not supported
-Processor does not support, check ark.intel.com if you CPU supports 16GB (2x4GB)
The i5 (24xx) supports 16GB MAX
And, it will not break your system by putting an incompatible 8GB stick.
Tell us how it goes -
Hi, I own an ASUS N43SL Jay Chou Special Edition. I now facing LCD backlight flickering problem. I am using this laptop for my study purposes. I am in Computer Engineering field, so most of the time I need to do some programming. The screen blacklight flickering while I start compile my program when my laptop is in battery mode and set the brightness to lowest. When I plug in the AC power, it doesn't flick anymore. May I know what's wrong with the LCD backlight??
My laptop spec:
Intel Core i5 2410M, 2.3GHz
8GB DDR3 1333 SODIMM
NVIDIA GeForce GT540M 2GB VRAM

p/s: This problem occur since few months ago and I had sent my laptop back to ASUS Service Centre last month claim for the LCD backlight problem. They changed the LCD Display Panel. But now the problem still occur.
