hmmm, so you have 2 options, open up the top of laptop and change the wifi or just "Go Wired" for LAN, unlike "Go Paperless" oh i mean "Go Wireless" trend of today.
I have been recieving so many Go Paperless emails that it got stuck to my mind :(

I was thinking, to use my Asus RTN56U as a Wireless Bridge, that connects to my RTN66U.

I just wished, the mentioned issue was Known to potential buyers.

    Thanks Guys.

Is the wifi adapter easy to get to? Easy to replace?

I ask this because I have seen a few reviews of people saying they had BSOD/Freezes already. One of them was associated with sound, which is suspicious of the problem my ASUS U45 has. (The WLAN adapter will cause a BSOD/Freeze randomly, when it does any audio playing has a horrible stuttering sound)

Anyone had freezing/BSODs of their own? If not, cool, but even if not same question, is the WLAN adapter easy to get to?

Edit: Why does ASUS use these garbage pieces in their products?

How does 660M perform 1080p Battlefield 3? I saw reports of people getting 30 FPS on average with 560M on 1080p.When I saw this only managed to muster 1080p on low on somewhere in this topic I could not believe it.

Anyone has been able to test this? I reckon this card can average 30-40 FPS easily on High,1080p.

You need to install Intel Management Engine, that will fix this, have been looking for one myself, and just found this. Will be trying it after work, will appriciate if you try and succeed and report back :)
ASUS G75VW Intel Management Engine Interface driver v.8.0.0.1399 download for Windows 7 64-bit

or go to the link below, and the section "Other" you will find the updated one and the one i mentioned above. You will have to select your OS first.

you are wc protocl, now i have to install that, as after applying all the updates to windows, i am getting a little low score on 3DMark 11 and Vantage both.
initially when i installed first 52 updates, restarted windows, i got a bit higher 3DMark Vanatage score but then some more updates appeared, and after installing those my score dropped a bit, lower then the score i got before applying any updates. i even reinstalled graphics driver. but lets see if anything changes after installing pci simple communication controller.
PS: will be posting links to benchmarks and all scores after work today, hope so ;)

My son picked up one these G75's @ BB this morning and we're back at the store with it now. We called the Geek Squad about the screen being grainy/shimmery and they said take back to the store. So far other than the screen he says it seems it's great but please tell me all the screens are not like this?

    Update:
They're saying it's normal because it's an HD Matte screen. It's extremely difficult to look at any white backgrounds. I personally have a 3 yo MacBook with a Matte screen and it has none of this on its screen. They didn't have of the G75's on display to look at beforehand. They did open another one it looked as bad if not worse. These Geek Squad people are about useless far real help as they tried to tell us all Matte screens look this way and I know that's bull. We're taking it back home hung try some more twinks and hopefully get some advice here. We're silver reward members so we have 45 days.

Not sure what you mean. The matte finish? Where it isn't a shiny display that reflects really well? I believe all of them have a matte finish.

And since my last post was skipped over, I'm reposting it here:

I ask this because I have seen a few reviews of people saying they had BSOD/Freezes already. One of them was associated with sound, which is suspicious of the problem my ASUS U45 has. I really want to be careful about freezing/BSOD issues before buying this laptop. I absolutely despise my U45 and never wanted to buy an ASUS product again, but I'm hoping that one purchase was a fluke and I'm giving them a second chance.

I realize all the G75's are Matte. It's bit hard to explain, but have you ever wiped an LCD screen with a slightly damp soft cloth while it was still turned on and it looked all shimmery or grainy. On bright white backgrounds, which means nearly all websites, that's what it looks like. Right now he's playing Diablo III and it's really not noticeable. I guess my beef with it is that we have a MacBook with Matte and a Dell UltraSharp Display that's Matte and I see none of the same thing we're seeing on the Asus G75. He's going to give it a shot and see how it goes. He's also going to check for any new drivers or updates there might be for the video card.

They are right that matte screens are more grainy. This is due to the anti-glare filter. Some screens suffer more from it than others - this would be the first time I've heard a complaint about it in a while.

Yes, the screen is Matte, but should not justify Grainy looking screen.

I can try but every time I've tried to photograph an LCD screen it always ends up with swiggly lines in the photo. Maybe my Canon has a setting for shooting screens but I doubt it. I'll give it a shot tomorrow. So far he is extremely happy with the performance of the laptop.

well dont do what I did people. I wanted to re-size my partitions and I ending up messing up everything. even the recovery. 1hr after getting it lol. Well I just did a full format and now have windows reisntalled on it. The drivers made things so easy to reinstal. I did not need the recovery partition do I? In all my other laptops I always ended up clearing it but not on day one lol. So far im loving this laptop. Just need to get some games installed now.

    edit

so I ordered an extra ac charger for my laptop so I can keep one in my bag. First thing I see is that its not a asus branded charger. I did not pay 75 bucks to not get an asus branded charger. Im going to see what they are going to do to fix this. Love the laptop, hate the ac charger right now.

@Grateful11 When i got mine g75 from BB, its screen was too much grainy, thats what i noticed first on powering it on for the first time, good for me that its battery had manufacturing prblems, so had to return it, and got this one i am using right now, and its much better than that one, so yeah, some of them are less and some are more grainy.

I had a MSI laptop with a 570m card but I came away disappointed overall with it and sold it on eBay. This is one of the laptops I have on my radar but I'm a little worried about the 128 bit factor. Would I be downgrading by getting this?

the G series has never had optimus. You can not switch to the intel card on them. I must say i dont see why anyone would want to use this off the charger. I can get about 2.5hrs of battery life but its just so big. Get a smaller netbook if you need battery.

The MSI GT70 has Optimus. Surfing with WLAN, it gets 3h 47min of battery life, whereas the G75V only gets 2h 14min. You really want that extra hour and then some, don't you? :)

In idle, the MSI GT70 lasts EVEN LONGER than the G75.

    lol geeksquad :D

What about a college student? That's a huge sum of money they could be grabbing but they choose to not accommodate them. Sager > Asus in terms of gaming, and even they have optimus.

Lol tell that to a poor college kid. No one said anything about 2K as well, the G55 is only like 1300 and is far from a "high end" gaming rig. For only 100 or 200 more you can get a Sager that obliterates it, and is quite a bit lighter and less bulky, and has optimus. Asus needs to get with the program.

if they are poor then they will not be looking at getting a $1300 laptop then. I was that poor college kid. lol I bought a mid range laptop that coudl still game and get good battery life. Im not sure if sagars are much lighter. The sagers only come with the 660m so they do have more powerful vid card which is nice in the 15in.

The Sager's come in at around 2-3 pounds lighter and come stock with a 670m, with the option of upgrading all the way up to the 7970m.

Well 2 , 3 less pounds doesn't come cheap, and by the way people wanna play games for fun, not so that they have to put ice pads on their laps after playing 2 , 3 hours games on sagers. we are way better with the cool and yet efficient G75VW, which if someone misses 670m performance then can overclock. while even its not that much of performance difference between 660m and 670m. and look at the cooling architecture difference between these 2, comon stop kidding and go back to your forum.

I'm not here to make anyone mad or troll at all. I'm just trying to weigh my options as I'm currently searching for a gaming laptop around this price point. Cooling is fantastic in both laptops. Both have dual vents and fans. Why might the Asus run cooler? Because it's only running on a 660m. I guarantee a Sager with only a 660m will run just as cool. And you can't be so sure about overclocking the 660m to 670m levels. From what I've heard around the forums, the 660m is a b*** to try and overclock that far. Do you have any data to show that the 660m can be overclocked to stock 670m levels?

Hey I think the latest version of HWiNFO supports G75. HWiNFO64 Download
Do you mind doing several testings (games, 3dmark, furmark) and then report the maximum temps/fan speed you've got (both CPU & GPU)?
Also what's the idle temps/fan speed?
    Thanks a lot!!

If you really want a GT70, don't get it now. Wait for the 680m to be released. Because MSI released the model GT783 equipped with the 580m, they'll do it again in this generation.
