Last week I bought Zephyrus M with 1070 and having issues with redeeming Black Ops 4. Promotion app says I’m not eligible even though I’m and ASUS keeps redirecting me to other support teams.
Black Ops deal was sort of justifying the purchase of the laptop and now I’m a bit angry and thinking of returning the it.

HeavyUser was able to get roughly 4 hours, and a review site says 2 hours though. "Asus didn’t mention anything about battery life, which is a little worrying. According to the specs, the Zephyrus S still makes use of a 4-cell 50WHr battery, which only saw the original Zephyrus through a maximum of two hours at best."

This is dave2d review seems promising.

This laptop is better than gs65 in term performance and almost similar with Blade 15 on default and OC mode it is just time matters to see user who passes 15K Firestrike overall score, nice. I think keyboard placement, battery life and lack of Thunderbolt 3 still things to consider for some people though.

Can anyone confirm temps while gaming? I just bought a GM501GS and I’m now considering returning that in favor of this. I reach 90c while running Monster Hunter World and if this is significantly better at cooling, this might be the one for me

It's most likely will be better than GM501GS but the maximum temp is locked at 90C so you want to find out how much performance you can have while reaching 90C on the temperature.

I'm downloading AC: Odyssey. It should be somewhat comparable to MH:W. I've only been playing Dark Souls so far but I never get up to 80C. I'm not sure how close to a 1070 the 1070mq can get but I've been using Armoury Crate to OC the gpu and memory, and it still runs cool now that I've undervolted the CPU to -125mV.

I don't have any experience with the gm501. The fans on my gx531 are pretty quiet. They haven't needed to spin up to max during gaming yet. They're somewhat loud while on turbo or manual. Boosted up to 120% though.

I just got done undervolting and ran another firestrike.

hey Donald, if this machine only got a single M.2 then its most likely not this one. I can't recall but remember seeing asus advertized a laptop that has not two but THREE m.2 which is raided via CPU (still through chipset somehow but not limited by DMI 3.0).

this was incredibly awkward because that would mean GPU only has 4 lane im not even sure if theres a dGP at all, unless the M.2 are all x2 lanes. something on z370/z390 desktop allow raid via CPU not limiting storage performance by dmi 3.0. its a shame p870tm didnt have that. do u know which model of ASUS that is?

Have you seen anything about the internals? I asked asus directly and they couldn’t give me an answer as they didn’t have much on it. Either way when I get some new tools by the end of the month, I’ll be swapping out the current one with an 960 EVO 1TB and repaste with thermal pads.

Just now received gx531 and it seems that I have wrong windows preinstalled. For some reason it is home instead of pro. Also dont see any way to redeem black ops code. Other than that all looks good.

What retailer did you purchase it from? Amazon does not put pro on it for you.

Edit: Goodluck with trying to redeem your code. I tried to go through the process and there is no way to successfully redeem it. Seems more like it was one big scam from Asus.

Just buy a small 8GB Flash Drive and Microsoft made a easy program to turn it into a boot-able windows drive for you. I always have one on hand, just waiting to replace ssd in my case. It also is a fresh install with no bloatware on it so you could easily have pro. Just make sure to have a Microsoft account with a digital Licence and put you don't have a key while going threw the install process.

You can check if you do have a Pro License by checking on their website I believe. I have about 6-7 PCs connected to my 10 Pro License last time I checked, so don't worry a old PC where it's activated on.

No ETA on mine. I'm getting one from HIDevolution with liquid metal and Fujipoly thermal pads. So once I get mine in I will definitely post back letting you guys know how to thermals are and if it's worth doing.

I'm going to repaste mine with kryonaut. I'm puppy sitting this weekend. So I'm shooting for Sunday night or Monday morning. Even with undervolting I've gotten the cpu hitting 90C playing AC: Odyssey. That's with the fans boosted to 120%.

Do you live in a hotter area? Or is that just one core that spikes up to 90?

If you can take pictures as you go. Would be really helpful to know how to get inside of it. I'll probably being upgrading the ssd.
Did you post any temps on yours? Several members seem to have great temps. So with liquid metal might keep it really chill.

Same thing with the Pictures, I’ve just been waiting to get ahold of my own Ifixit kit or my friend’s.

I haven’t posted my temps just yet, been testing it on real world performance while I’ve just been testing my FPS and been a bit lazy on downloading Aida 64 for some synthetic benchmarks. It’s very cool for anything that doesn’t require intense performance. However I need to probably set a better fan curve for when i game on it.

That game is cpu killer, because it’s not optimized I believe (desktop users reported also frame drops issues) and full of drm protection, my Blade15 is also breaking 90ish on some cores if I play with 1070maxq dGPU, eGPU setting that usually keeps my cpu temperature on max 70ish (mostly 60ish average) hits also 80ish on this game. Please update if you can keep it on 80ish in this game or even lower after kryonaut repasting, since mine is still default factory paste.

I really need to get an ifixit kit. I always gind myself buying small bits here and there. So I'd clearly get my money's worth out of them.

Honestly it sounds like yours runs just fine. Ive never liked synthetic benchmarks as they give unrealistic work loads for gamers. Though the gx531 really seems to have good thermals overall compared to the likes of razer and msi.
