Hello guys, I’m making this thread early since I get mine tomorrow so I’ll be posting my benchmarks, thermals, glitches and be taking pictures of the laptop when I open it up so you guys will know what to suspect.

I'll be adding a 1TB M.2 so I can also post a small guide on it if anyone would want that.

I'm at work so I cant take the proper photos, i'll take some when I get home.

I did run some quick firestrike benches though. All looks pretty decent from what I can tell [IMG]

nice, temps look pretty good. Good thing Asus didn't want to try a I9 themselves XD like they tried a 1080 on the last one

Yea temps seem manageable, still thinking about repasting though.

I'm having an issue with Asus Armory Crate though, the Aura Section is very buggy for me.

When I try to change the Aura Effect sometimes it doesn't change, also sometimes the mouse doesn't sync colors with the keyboard even though it is configured to do. Annnd lastly, increasing brightness on the aura lights seems to do nothing which is kind've a bummer as the RGB lighting on the keyboard is pretty dim at the moment.

Let me know what yours does when you get it tomorrow.

Edit: So everyone who ordered this is aware. I bought mine from amazon with the mouse bundle, it did not come with COD4.

Well I told Amazon and they say I'm entitled to it so I'll see if complaining will get me the copy. usually they work something out tbh. Also, did you look through your emals? they said it should come in one.

Yea, I checked three times just to make sure. I'll call them later tonight and see if I can get one out of them.

Fixed the keyboard RGB Brightness issue by updating the software.

So far am I very happy with this laptop, so much so that I cancelled my MSI P65 that I had on pre order.

Edit: When I calibrate the screen with my X-Rite i1 Display Pro do you want me to post the ICC profile for you to download?

That's up to you. Is the P65 like the GS65? because I had a hands on experience with the GS65 was way too flimsy by my tastes.

Well the Website Page says you get one so Amazon has to give it to you or they could be liable for false advertising a promotion

By any chance have you tried out the Zephyrus M GM501GS? I'm curious if battery life is any different between the two. That's pretty much will be the deciding factor for me. Although I believe they both have the same size battery, I guess I'm hoping the removal of G-Sync and dropping from a 1070 to 1070 Max Q has made some kind of difference.

As for the COD promotion, that sucks to hear you weren't supplied a code. I mentioned in another post that I chatted with ASUS customer support and was told that the bundle does not qualify for the COD promotion and that Amazon set it to either one or the other (free game or free mouse). Hopefully getting in touch with Amazon about it works out for you.

EDIT: I found this thread on the Asus Reddit board https://www.reddit.com/r/ASUS/comments/9j4vwh/bought_zephyrus_m_cant_get_black_ops_4_promotion/. It mentions something that needs to be installed to redeem the COD offer. Maybe this will help you out.

I'm not too sure about the P65, I mainly wanted to compare the two laptops and go with the better one but after playing with the Asus all afternoon I know for sure this is the one for me.

Yea, the amazon web page shows the promo but if you click on the option with the mouse the promo for the cod code doesnt show anymore.

I haven't tried the Zephyrus M, I was actually going to purchase that about a week ago until I saw the S was coming out. Tonight I'll be gaming non stop so no battery testing. Tomorrow I will enable every battery saving option while I'm at work and use it to browse the web. I;ll update you tomorrow when the battery life reaches 5%.

I'm not too bummed about the code, I wasnt really expecting one because I chose the promo with the free mouse. The only reason why I thought I was going to get one was because of Leos post about him contacting amazon and confirming he was going to get the mouse and code.

well through research between theme, the Zephyrus M was just not as good as the GS65 for primarily the size ad screen. I know the GS65 is good on everything, but the build was just too flimsy while the battery was on par, but not as good as the Aorus X5's.

Unfortunately my unit has some pretty nasty light bleed. It was super distracting in some games. I ordered a replacement, I'll be keeping whichever one has less light bleed\thermals.

I uploaded two calibrated ICC profiles. One for 6500k and one for 7500k. I personally prefer 7500k for gaming\browsing.

Edit: My GPU can be overclocked by +100mhz on the core, anything more and games crash out on me. Still, I'm happy it can even overclock at all.

That's unfortunate to see the Light Bleed, hopefully that is only a defective one and not a batch of them went out with that.

We need to vote with our wallet - if we keep buying machines with such poor QC, the companies will have no incentives to fix it.

All IPS screens are going to have some kind of light bleed, my main issue is this just looks sloppy. It's no where near a uniformed bleed that I am used to. Those little patches on the bottom left are a big pain in the A$$.

New one gets here on Monday, I'll update then.

Still, light bleed aside, I love this laptop.

Edit: Will be posting my experience with battery life in about an hour or so.

Okay, some battery numbers for you guys.

System was set to Battery Saver, 10% Brightness, went into Nvidia Control Panel set Preferred Graphics to Integrated Graphics, Armoury Crate set to Silent, disabled Bluetooth, set Windows Power Plan to Power Saver.

Unplugged Power Cable from Laptop at 8:30am, Battery at 97%. Started Light Internet Browsing.

9:20am, Battery at 88%, Started Watching Youtube, leaving Youtube Running Full Screen @1080p

11:10am, Battery at 35%, Youtube Full Screen still running

12:10am, Battery at 7%, Finally stopped 1080p Youtube Video Loop

So about 4 hours of runtime, 1 hour or so of Web Browsing, 3 hours of constant Youtube 1080p videos.

Tbh, that's as good as I would want as I usually just plug in my laptops anyways. Could you open the bottom up to see if there's 2 or just 1 NVME slots?

No, I get it in 4 days. Still have it pre-ordered but they haven’t taken the money yet until they start shipping. So I still have time to cancel the order if I wanted to. But so far I’m liking what I’m seeing.

Average for a gaming laptop. I leave it on Silent when I'm not gaming, normally I don't hear the fans at all when I'm browsing or watching youtube.

I just got a code for COD.

It popped up directly on PC.

So damn, to me this is one heck of a deal for this laptop. Free 80$ mouse and 60$ and 100$ off for the preorder.

Promo Code is a real pain in the to activate. Our laptops isnt even an option to choose when I try to redeem the code....

Awesome News! New Laptop is benching even faster and cooler than the first. The lightbleed in the bottom left corner is also nothing like the original laptop I received.

Below is a bench, everything stock

I gave up, this is literally the craziest code redemption process I have ever had to go through. First they give you a code, then you sign up for the asus site and enter the code, then they want you to upload your invoice from the amazon purchase and a picture of the SN on the box, THEN they want you to choose the model of product that you purchased.... this is where I got stuck, our laptop isnt an option to choose from so I couldn't move forward.

Once all that is done is takes them up to 20 days to give you the real code.... lol

There is some program preinstalled on your laptop called Asus Redemption I think, eventually you'll get a popup saying your code is ready. Once you get your code you can begin your journey into madness. Let me know how it goes.
