Is the Kingston (HX432S20IBK2/32) pretty much the best/compatible RAM you can buy for the SCAR G533Qr?

I was also looking at the Crucial CT2K16G4SFD832A and Samsung M471A2K43DB1-CWE.

My bios also has the RAM spd issue. It won't show in CPU-z.

Are the SCAR G533Q models affected by gimped RAM issue that the Advantage models suffer from?

I've just got reply from ASUS support about this issue with waking from sleep - and they say that it could happen when ASUS System Control Interface 3 is not updated to the latest version.3.0.10
    And yes, mine was 3.0.9

I've finally got around to repasting the LM in the cpu with Conductonaut. I thought of applying LM on the gpu, but I was too lazy and also worried about the thickness of the compound not being enough to make proper contact so I just repasted it again with noctua nt-h2.

I'm still using the original 240w adapter with the 155 vbios with no issues. The cpu never draws more than 46w outside cinebench... so that leaves 40w free if the gpu hits 150w. Not a very smart thing to do for sure.

I noticed that the liquid metal reacted to the nickel in the plate which produced a bit of a "brittle paste". As far as I know that's fine. Temperatures are better now, too. With the fan set to 80%-80c and 100%-90c, it peaked at 86-88 (22c room). But my laptop has a 5800h. Before it was reaching 95 and throttling.

The only difference I've tried when flashing a newer bios is the spd info, so I'm still on version 311. CPU performance seems is the same with all versions.

    Updated and fixed

    thanks for the pro tip!

This is really wild - if I could get a 150w vbios into my 3070 I think I would and just let it thermally throttle when it wanted. As near as I can tell, at 1440p, ESPECIALLY when eternal monitor is used, this dynamic power shifting bulls- just messes with performance, sticking the cpu to 45w and letting GPU go hamwild seems smarter.

Too bad I have no idea how to do any of that - i could repaste CPU/GPU just fine but im not even actively gaming atm so its not important

maybe when more games come out that I care about in the distant future lol

    Hi!

I have a G533QR and i noticed that my screen at the bottom right side next to the hinge is really crackling when i open/close it. It is really annoying as this machine is told "premium" . What is your experience with this thing?

However Bios 320 came out today in my region. Should I upgrade or is there any issue with it?

Thank you for the answer and sorry for my english.

yep my hinge crackles as well. Right hinge as you are facing the laptop.

It was a problem that developed about a month after I got it.

it doesn't bother me that much so I haven't wanted to **** with it.

I purchased a HyperX Impact kit to replace the stock RAM and it's night and day. I can't believe high-end laptops are shipping with cheap RAM.

I also purchased a Samsung 980 to upgrade storage. However I ran into a huge issue. The M.2 screw is stripped. It looks like it shipped that way as this is my first time opening my unit. Any good screw removal plier recommendations?

    Yikes that's really ****ty.

Depending on how stripped - maybe a rubber band + a larger Philips - otherwise sometimes a reverse drillbit

There is some like really really sharp almost blade like pliers i saw Luis Rossman use once that he uses for grabbing the neck of the screw to manually turn but i cant remember the model name of them

What performance gains are you seeing with your 32GB Hyper X IMPACT memory sticks? When you bought your laptop did it come with 32GB of the Samsung stock memory?

The reason I ask is that my Scar 15 RTX 3080 laptop came with 32GB of the Samsung stock memory and I would like to know if it is worth me upgrading my laptop's memory to the 32GB Hyper X IMPACT CL20 memory sticks.

    Short reply: No.

I have this model with 32 Go of Samsung RAM.

    With Samsung RAM:

    Cinebench 23 (10 min): ~13400-13500
    Time Spy: 12901 ( https://www.3dmark.com/spy/21508580), 12885 ( https://www.3dmark.com/spy/21508711), 12956 ( https://www.3dmark.com/spy/21540682)

SCAR 15 repasted with Kryonaut for CPU and GPU, I didn't have faith to put Conductonaut when I did it, so maybe later.
CPU temp dropped from ~95 to ~85... So I flashed 229687 vbios (94.04.3F.00.4F MSI GE76 155W) and Time Spy increased his score from ~11400-11700 to ~12900-13100 with a +130/+300 in Afterburner.

    With Kingston RAM:

    Cinebench 23 (10 min): ~13500-13600
    Time Spy: 13010 ( https://www.3dmark.com/spy/21540933), 12892 ( https://www.3dmark.com/spy/21566941), 12964 ( https://www.3dmark.com/spy/21567206)

It's almost indistinguishable from the variance of the measure.

So I sell 32 Go of Kingston HyperX Impact RAM (HX432S20IBK2/32) 200 euros fdp in if you're interested, I live in France xD

    idk about all that Royu.

I've posted them before but the RAM they ship these laptops with is crap

The ram I put into mine is lower CL

    The difference is measurable.

    Before:
    https://i.imgur.com/nkWAYBq.png

    After:
    https://i.imgur.com/NIpFyEK.png

That's also with an OC on the GPU - was just playing around with things - at the time, the ryzen mobile CPUs were not really overclockable to my knowledge. Not sure if we have any sort of Throttlestop type software yet for them. Haven't kept up. Don't really care

My system came with 16 3200CL22

the kit I used is this:
    https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BGLKD4M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's worth noting that MOST RAM kits out there do not autoload XMP - they run at ****ty timings and speeds if their stock speed is outside spec on this laptop. And you can't control it - this particular kit gets around that some how. Dunno how. My Guru Friend recommended it to me.

I use the same kit than you Kingston HyperX Impact HX432S20IBK2/32 but mine has 32 Go of Samsung ram before change.
I'm not at home actually but as soon as I can, tomorrow I think, I take a screenshot of zentimings and hwinfo of my Samsung ram.

Yes, no worries, it's just we haven't the same default ram kit sold in the laptop so with your 16 Go kit, it's useful but with mine, a 32 Go Samsung kit, it's useless ^^

And for @1Ton, if you have the same default kit than me, it's useless.

Strange that the timings would be so different ... really wish ASUS would just allow us to control the timings, or at least enable XMP to get really really good ram in these systems.

Everyone who have replaced their 240W charger to 280W ADP-280BB. I have one request - could any of you measure output voltage?
I have received my power brick and it's outputting 20.9V instead of 20V. Stock 240W measured output is 20.2V.
Could you measure yours? I've bought it on eBay.
    Heres how to:

    Simply:
Have a multimeter. Plug black jack into 'com port' red into one that have "V" symbol. Turn on multimeter to 200V DC (anything that will handle value above 20V but cannot be exactly 20V because it will display 0). Put red 'pin' inside charger to touch inner 'needle', touch black one to the outer side of charger plug (do not touch pins together!), report your results :)

I'm pretty concerned about burning my Strix mobo with overvoltage ... 20.5V would be safe but almost 1V above ? hmm...
What do you think - should I use it?

PS: Sticker spec is: 20V 14A (and it's like geninue one from Asus)

Albioza, are you considering that the laptop itself only takes as much power as it needs and that extra is over provisioning for the future/wear/tear?

did you measure this at the DC jack on the motherboard input while it was plugged into the board or from the tip of the charger when it isn't plugged in? Sorry can't watch video rn.

I only ask because it seems normal a power supply would output a bit more than necessary when brand new. its maximum potential is a little higher, and probably still within acceptable ranges, and it only really matters what the board takes, not what the charger gives, so measuring at the board is going to be more accurate. no?

Ymmm... I think laptop takes as much Power as it needs but this only apply to Ampers (current) which is always load dependent. Power supply always 'deliver' nearly the same voltage value (20V +/- few %) but maintaining stable output value also depends on load allowing it to fluctuate in range of ~1V - unplugged charger will give higher voltage output than plugged one (open circuit voltage vs closed circuit voltage). It's not recommended to use charger with higher voltage output than laptop required input (it can be a little bit lower like 19.5V - you will get eventually OS notification that charger is not compatible or something) like using 23V for example which may fry motherboard almost instantly.
But I don't know what value of 'overvoltage' could be safe / won't overheat anything.

I just measured charger tip without plugging it into laptop.

    Hello
This is my first reply here, since I recently just bought a G533QS.

I was wondering if any of you guys have the solution for my problem, which is that I can't shut down my laptop from the Windows start menu, It simply restarts.
I have the v. 313 bios and the newest windows, which I even re-installed trying to solve this problem.

Did/Do you have this problem too, any ideas how solve it?

I turnt into another problem: I can't overclock my gpu's memory clock in MSI Afterburner as hard as I want.

When I bought my G533Q (bios v. 309) I tried MSI Afterburner and I was able to overclock my gpu's memory clock for example to 1400 MHz, after that I updated the bios to v. 313. From that moment the maximum allowed MHz for the gpu's memory clock is 300 MHz. I tried to downgrade to bios v. 309 again, but that didn't help with my problem.

Could someone help me to overclock it again above 300 MHz?

The lower end models that we have come with sihtty 2x8gb single rank and poor timings kits. The higher end models do have decent memory. Aftermarket is still better, but we simply are not allowed by the manufacturer to make use of those better kits because the bios basically only lets just flash a newer bios.

the bios is loading the jedec profile automatically. XMP is an intel technology. That memory kit has the same jedec and xmp profile, that's why it's working. If my experience with a 3600x and a 5800x on the 4/570 + b550 chipsets transfers to laptops, we should be able to manually tweak the timings to reach that super low latency that some kits have. I bought mine without noticing the jedec spec, because it was a xmp cl15 kit. Modding the bios or Asus having a sudden change of heart after many many years of crappy laptop bioses are the only options we have. So basically, none. All their laptops are held back by memory timings.

Hello, after buying the G533QS everything went fine, I could overclock my GPU memory in MSI Afterburner to even 1500 MHZ, but after a reboot and update it was limited to 300 MHZ. Can someone please link me an old VBIOS version, which lets me overclock it? I have the RTX 3080 16 GB.

Thanks again. One final question. Based upon earlier comments, if you have the Samsung modules this isn’t much of an upgrade right? My G533QS has them.

Just got my Scar 15 30380 recently and ran Time Spy. My score appears to be lower than others are getting. With everything at default and using manual Armory Crate profile I get 10,775 overall score. Any suggestions on how I can improve this? Do you have to be using Turbo mode to get above 11k?
