Yeah, I've done that in the past as well, mounted the monitor arm and tray to my bed. I did that back in the 70's/80's, these days I relax more than work in bed, so I don't need the workspace set up.

It's important that the connection is made to the bed or wall, rather than free standing on the bed, it's much more stable. On the wall gets rid of all the bed jostling motion too.

A pine board works for me now ;)

I expect hi means on the laptop. You remember this is the ASUS ROG G752VS Owners Lounge? :D
For the G900, I mean ambient and how sweaty your hands are can tell you a lot about the temp, HaHa

My G752vs with the cpu @3.8ghz and throttlestop gets to 85°C while gaming. The Gpu with +100 stays at around 75-77°C in heavy games.

Adequate I would say. But the best part is that is a "quiet" laptop for the power.

New owner of a G752VM-RB71 but spent years over in the N71JQ thread. Really like the new machine. Not a gamer yet, but thinking about it. I did install a game, Unravel. Had problems with game play and ended up uninstalling the Asus Sonic Suite. Works great now. The monitor on this box is just fantastic!

I had the black screen and pink screen issue as well. Both have stopped though. So far everything is normal.

Have you done anything differently? Was there a new update or firmware or did it just stop out of the blue?

Just stopped out of the blue. Don't really know what I did. The pink screen problem happened a few times, then back screen happened once. After that nothing.

    Could be a good news?!?

Do you have any other complaints? Does the G752VS have an ambient light sensor for automatic screen brightness adjustment?

How's the temperature when gaming? I've seen people report around mid 90s. Is that true? It seems rather high.

No other complaints. I don't think not has a sensor. Temps are really good. I'm in a 27deg climate and playing witcher 3. Temps hover around 70 during extensive scenes. Everything on Max.

I bought 752vs as well and most of the time it boots to black screen. No pink screen. But I have some squiking sound in middle below keyboard. Sounds like transistor or something. Should I be worried? Should I take it to service?

If it's the same as mine the name of that sound is "coil whine" and I only hear it when I have really high fps, like 3000fps on the witcher3 menu.

It was easy to fix, I just turned on g-sync. Now it won't go above 75fps, so no problem.

The only issue I have with this laptop is an issue a lot of Asus have. Sometimes the keyboard becomes irresponsive. This has something to do with usb ports. If I unplug the mouse and plug it back again some seconds later it works again. It only happened 2 or 3 times though.

It seems there is a new firmware that corrects the overvoltage they had in the beginning. I just use thottlestop so I haven't even changed firmware.

It's a great laptop, only a bit expensive for what it is. But really silent, that is by far what I like the most. My ps4 pro makes twice the noise.

    10/10 would buy again. ;)

Hey all, fantastic and very informative discussion!
I am planning on buying this laptop, rog g752vs for gaming but mostly for 3D animation purpose . The software i use is Maya, if anyone is familiar with it, any i need a fast laptop to run a smooth FPS on the software viewport, it is less about rendering and more about display the rigs/model smoothly while i playback my animation.

Im just wondering if anyone can let me know if this will be a good choice to buy for 3d software purpose.

    Thanks so much! ^_^

Maya/autocad is more CPU intensive. I haven't tried it on my laptop, but I would assume it should work OK.

Don't think they will disappear immediately. If you don't need a new laptop right now, it might be a good idea to wait. Have you looked at the other laptops? I think alienware have really good screens. Might be worth a look for the colours.

Yeah i did look at MSI and Alienware but it seems like Asus is the most reliable...i know the screen is not amazing and the speakers are ****, but other than that, the specific model looks like a beast, and i need a new laptop for an upcoming 3d project asap. just wondering if there will be a massive different between the new model or if it's not a huge different... again, i need it for 3d animation rather than intense gaming

i'm technically in the process of purchasing a laptop now, would the G752VM still a good choice at the moment? also checking it out on ExcaliberPC as it has a good bundle but my concern is it will be taken outside of US so i can receive it. I'll be using this for VR, coding and probably doing Blender.

Hey Diesalot, I almost bought from excaliber as well, then I did a bit of research and found them to have a pretty terrible rating. Conversly, computer upgrade kings seemed to have a pretty good rating and also had this deal: https://cukusa.com/asus-rog-g752vs-rb71-17-3-inch-gaming-laptop-256gb-nvme-ssd-upgrade.html

I upgraded the SSD and killer network card as they seemed like good deals as well.

I plan on doing a lot of reading on these forums in the coming days. =)

Has anyone seen anything on the new RS71 Kaby Lake model? It looks like a complete body refresh for the laptop... I think I'm going to cancel my order and just wait it out to see if the new one fixes any of the screen or cooling issues... or if it makes it worse with the even smaller form-factor.

    For reference: http://www.hidevolution.com/asus-gl702vs-rs71.html

Thinking about buying this laptop. But while the expert reviews give the Asus G752VS very high grades the user reviews are very mixed. Should I buy this or not?

Thanks for the reply. The one i just ordered has a 120hz screen. Its the
    ASUS ROG G752VS-BA171T

I also value the low fan noise very highly and that seems like a strenght on this laptop

The low noise was the selling point for me.

I had a clevo p670 returned because it was extra loud.

My g752vs is really quiet even on load. But had to use throttlestop to fine tune it, Asus used too much voltage. Maybe new revisions have that sorted out.

Ok so after 2 hours with it I am very pleased.

    Only two questions.

    1. Do you also get a quite loud almost like a jet Engine sound when you Power down the laptop?

    2. Is there any way to get rid off the popping sound when the speaker goes on and off?

Install hwinfo64 and see your temperatures when gaming and post them here.

    And your questions:
1- not really. Maybe it's a feature to clean the fans?

2- I still have them occasionally, but it's mostly gone when I installed a new set of drivers I found on the Asus forums.

Sadly I have to send it back. When inspecting it further it was damaged from factory on the rear grills. It also had a loose part on the hinge. So I am sending it back and trying a replacement. I am sooooooo sad right now. I absolutley loved this one and it had barely no backlight bleed, but the damage was to visible to be able to live with it. Really hope the next one is better.

    Hi again!

I hope I dont jinx it now but this Asus G752vs seems perfect. Absolutley no backlight bleeding and no damaged fan exhaust :) Hope it continues to be this good. Are there no way to crank the fans up to max on this laptop? Want to see how loud it gets.

Mostly because i want to know how i sounds om higher fanspeeds. I tried an MSI GT73VR before this one and it had a really annoying Noise from the CPU fan at higher fan speeds

The fans ramp up to about 3100 rpm once the cpu reaches 55-60 degrees, now I was installing a game and doing som web surfing and the fans ramped up. You can clearly hear the fans at 2500-3100 rpm. I am comparing all noise to my ROG G750JX laptop. It is whisper quiet when not playing a game. I know the hardware in the G752VS produces alot of heat and that I cant compare the two but still. The fans ramping up and down annoys me a bit, it was the same on the other one I had.

BTW are you owning the 970/980M version or the 1070 version?

Well, you must have got the older version of the bios like me.

Just install throttlestop and it'll be fine. Asus uses absurd voltage. If you want I'll post the settings.

Thanks. I got an critical bios update when I started the computer for the first time. But maybe that is not what you mean?

I am a little dissapointed this far in the performance difference in games like WoW. Almost the same performance between this and my G750JX with an GTX770m. I know WoW is more heavy on cpu than gpu but still.

EDIT: Maybe I also should mention that I have the 6700HQ processor in my laptop. It is not the OC edition. This is the one I have: https://www.amazon.com/G752VS-i7-6700HQ-NVIDIA-Windows-Notebook/dp/B01KLRPN3K

This is my opinion after my first day with the G752VS:

    Pros:

    Really nice design
    Premium feel
    Great keyboard
    Great performance
"Quiet" fans comparing to other laptops with same specs, they just make less noise in the same fanspeed than for example MSI GT73VR
    Good screen

    Cons:

Fans ramping up at Web browsing/Doing simpler tasks
Although its fans are quiet for it speeds it is still not quiet.
    Lots of bloatware
    No fan control

    Closing thoughts:

The only thing that bothers me is that the fans are ramping up at simpler tasks like browsing while installing a game for example, just doing a windows update or an installation of a game or an application sometimes make the fans go up to 2500-3000rpm for a minute or so before going down to the idle speed of 1700-1900. I had another G752VS before this one that I had to send back and it did the same so it is not just my current that does this. This and the lack of fan control makes me wonder if I can keep it. I also tried the MSI GT73VR and although that one is louder when gaming there at least is a fan control that you could use to prevent the fans from ramping up.

Maybe I am to sensitive to fan noise to be able to own a Pascal laptop. But getting a desktop computer is not an option at the moment so I really dont know what to do.

    @Jaxione

Ok, so here is a little "guide" you could try to follow:

First unninstall asus OC tools. I don't even remember the name of the tool because I did a clean windows10 install, I don't like bloatware.
Check everything with HWInfo64 and see how the voltages on the CPU change.
Use MAX Performance on the Power settings.

Skylake CPUs are only supported from ThrottleStop 8.2 forward. Just Download the latest from here:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/thre...-guide.531329/

    Settings I reccomend:

    FIVR BUTTON:

    -CPU CORE:
    Unlock adjustable Voltage
    Adaptive
First slider - all to the left until Default shows
Second Slider - Undervolt (try -100mV)

    - CPU Chache
Exactly the same as CPU CORE

Check the "Save Options to INI when ThrottleStop exits"

    TPL BUTTON:
    Speed Shift Tecnology enable
Enable Speed Shift when TS Starts

After this just try higher or lower Undervolting settings. If something goes wrong just reduce the amount. Most Skylake CPU can go -150mV and more. But it depends.
    Try it!

And synce you have the 6700HQ version, it goes down to 3.1Ghz when using 4 cores. In the FIVR button onde the left side you can keep the cpu @3.5Ghz all the time. Try that. You'll get better performance in CPU heavy games.

    Don't forget to leave feedback.

Thanks alot for the advice I will try that some day. Temps when gaming are pretty good as they are now as well. CPU at 72 degrees max and the GPU at 71 after a 2 hour gaming session.

Should I uninstall Asus Splendid aswell? It seems to make the screen darker. Have max brightness but still seems darker than my other laptop.

Also I have some subtile flicker on screen when gsync is activated. Read that this could happen with gsync but it bothered me so much that I turned off gsync. Then it dissappeared completly

I just got my G752vs, and have couple of questions.

    1) My laptop came with only 1TB hard drive, i plan on removing the Optical drive, and replace with optical drive caddy. Just to confirm, would i need a 9.5mm drive caddy or 12.7mm?

    2) I plan on running 2 128GB Intel NVME 600p in raid 0. Has anyone have any experience with these drive before? I know they are not has fast as the Samsung, but i would just be installing windows 10, and applications on it only (mostly office, accounting software etc. [nothing high demanding]).

Why raid? It's almost always better to just use a single bigger unit
