Also, everyone with the fan problem please do report it to ASUS. They think it's just my machine and want me to send it in /groan.

    USB 3.0 V2.1.19.0

    Fix

The FDD device not detected when first connected to USB 3.0 port.

Yup this new driver fix that problem. I was having an issue with that with the last USB 3.0 driver.

I gave up on the touchpad; I never use it. Good catch on the audio; somehow missed that one. Added!

I don't get asus numbering version driver method. if you look at the version number only it would appear they are newe at first glancer, but yet are dated older then other number versions that are a lower version of that on some of their drivers.

    Hi all
I'm newcomer in your forum. I have a N61JQ laptop running win 7 64bit home edition. It is sometimes freezed for about 2 seconds, some part of monitor will be doted and then the display will disappear. After that the only thing that i can do is pushing the power button to restart it. Somebody can help? Are the update drivers which are mentioned here for 64bit too?

@ Jasey Rae: It could be an overheating issue, did you try to clean the air intakes?

@ Alisha: your problem seems to be a hardware problem, did you try to contact Asus support? Drivers listed here are for 64bit.

Have you turned the machine off and blown air back through the vent? If a ton of dust comes out, then that was your problem.

Are you sure it's the laptop hardware and not a program causing it? did you try going into safe mode and see if it was doing the same thing? If it isn't then it's a program or a driver somewhere causing it.

Check your link again. You are downloading non officiel intel 9.2.3.1020 chipset drivers.

9.2.3.17 is still the only officiel release on intels website.

Having an issue with bluetooth drivers (any version). Replaced a HDD and did a clean install of Win7 Enterprise SP1 (MSDN member, it's legal lol). All drivers installed and up to date with the grateful assistance of this thread. Can't for the life of me get the Broadcom bluetooth drivers to install. Device manager sees a Generic Bluetooth Adapter and the MS BT Stack and refuses to accept the BC drivers. Tried uninstalling whats there then running the BC installer, tried forcing it to use the BC drivers, says they aren't for the device...even tried yelling at it...no dice lol. Anyone else experienced this when doing clean Windows installs? As I recall the last time I clean installed this box I didn't have this issue at all.

the 9 cell does not work on the N61JQ system. the battery protrudes at the back and that prevents the laptop screen from opening.

you would have to purchase the 6 cell.

    ha, no actually. :)

but i have been following this thread from its very start.
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-reviews-owners-lounges/456659-asus-n61jq-owners-lounge.html

as of now, the answer to your question has only returned with disappointment.

you might come across some 9 cell batteries that claim to fit the N61JQ. they actually do. its just that you will not be able to open your screen fully.

hope i have been of help.

How can you tell which ones have SRS? So which one is the best one to install? They have a ton of them listed on that link.

Sometimes, the filename has "SRS" in it. Other times, it has other things like "ALC"; I generally don't even bother looking at those. If it has "SRS" or is unclear (like if it just says "Audio_Realtek_Win7..."), I download it and open the ZIP. The SRS drivers contain an "SRS" folder in the zip.

Hey guys, I just installed the latest Realtek Audio drivers with the SRS Premium Sound but now nothing works! (can't hear anything except when I click the Test my speaker config in the RealTek settings).

    Anyone have the same problem?

First time poster here, but I noticed that after I updated my audio drivers, and did a fresh install of the SRS control panel, it has since stopped working. I can turn SRS on and it goes to the default settings, but I can't seem to customize it at all. No matter what I do with the sliders, the audio doesn't adjust.

Fairly certain I installed them properly. (I've gone back and done it twice now.)
    Am I missing something?

Some people are still having issues with the speed control of the cpu fan and Asus doesn't seem like it's a big enough problem to update their bios to fix it

This is what they said a month ago: "Please be aware that our technicians are still investigating the issue, and that an updated BIOS will be posted at ASUS's Support site when available. Any updates go through a Quality Assurance procedure before being made available to the public."

In a week, it will be 1 year since I first reported this issue :(
