So what about people who ordered a TV-Tuner with their reseller
-
AlexOnFyre Needs to get back to work NBR Reviewer
That is an expresscard tuner. You will be fine if you did that.

Okay, I installed Windows, I downloaded the driver for my wireless card, I've got almost everything working without having to refer to experts. Now, I'm stuck. First, I can't get my quick launch buttons to do anything. Second, I can't find Turbo Gear for the life of me. I'm chalking it up to ignorance.
Not that I'm complaining. I love my C90S. -

The turbo gear stuff is easy to get too just easy to overlook.
when you put in the drivers cd and it auto runs or you hit setup. your brought to the "install drivers" part, if you look at the top you notice your under a tab the "drivers" tab. Just click the "utillities" tab and you will page over too all the other stuff like turbo gear.
I dont care about quick launch buttons for interent, mail, or performance mode. I just wich there was a one for volume. I hate it taking 2 hands to change the volume via Fn + F keys. Usually when I need to mute or turn the volume up/down I have only one hand free. -
Hmph, I underestimated how long it will take for mine to get shipped... It's to be expected though, I didn't pre-order. Oh well, this gives me time to figure out how to get the exhaust port to gout fire when the overclock mode is on...
On-topic: I noticed a couple of people mention that the area above the hardrive gets rather warm under continuous use. Has this been a bigger issue with 7200 rpm drives or does it not seem to make a difference? -
AlexOnFyre Needs to get back to work NBR Reviewer
7200 will get very warm during HDD intensive tasks (regular use, not really), the 5400 usually does not get hot.

Woot, UPS tracking said "Out for delivery" as of 12:01 AM last night...but it still says expected delivery date is tomorrow...man I hope I get it today! Did anybody else have that happen?
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso

i preordered on july 3 from gentech and it hasnt shipped yet and my card has not been charged yet im considering cancelling and getting a g1s from best buy on my discount and actually having something that i know is powerful and having it right now rather than waiting what do you guys think
-
I ordered on the 23 of June and my order was shipped 3 days ago. I would email then, your should be shipping soon.
-
depends on what kind of discount you're getting...the best buy g1s isn't as good as the standard from a reseller, if i remember correctly...
-
it would be 1615 what is different between the best buy one and the normal one
--edit--
cancelled my order they said it want shipping until sometime next week -
If you guys had to guess how much would you pay for this?

okay uhm, ive built desktops before so i thought i'd be okay, but i'm kinda lost with the install process for my c90 (ram, hd, cpu) so if someone is willing to help, shoot me a pm.
-
AlexOnFyre Needs to get back to work NBR Reviewer
I am guessing about 1900-2100 depending on the price of the warranty and what you are getting the sound card for. If that is integrated audio and I can't tell, then probably about 1850-1900.
-
Anyone know where to buy a spare battery yet?

however I did post an image I made in my review to help you and others like you.
also there is an assembly guide out there somewhere, it was posted before we even had our units.
if after you take a look at it and cant tell how to put it together, ask a specific question as to what part you need to install and I can walk you thru it.
Also there are more pics on my review that may help you see how it goes since its assembled already. -
the assembly guide is on the c90s product page of gentechs website
-

It sure is.
Here you go for those who dont know the gentech url or are too lazy to find it

I ordered mine on July 9th from Gentech. Hasn't shipped yet but I was told it would probably be sent out 1-2 weeks after my order was placed. For those who currently have their's in the mail, when did you order?
-
well i ordered july 8th also (i cancelled before it shipped) BUT because i ordered barebones (no processor, ram or hard drive), only the wireless card, video card, and 3 year warranty
it would of shipped that friday july 13th, and this was told to me by ken, mutiple times.
so they may not have some of config options instock
i decided again to get it and reordered from btotech (geared2play) tuesday (7/19), shipped thursday (yesterday), will receive today before 3PM -
-
Thanks for the speedy response, I'll be looking forward to its arrival.
-
and thats why gentech and btotech are by far the best people to deal with, they are even here for us on the forums
p.s. gentech, sorry for reordering with btotech, only switched because i liked the accidental damage option with them -
-
Still waiting for mine after 3 weeks

hey i got a question, i don't know if this is only me but after i installed all the drivers and utilities, the TurboGear folder pops up when window loads, is this suppose to happen? and how do i stop it
-
okay i got everything built...i was just having a little bit of trouble with the processor but i figured it out...even took off the old thermal grease and got some arctic silver on there. but anyways...first off let me say i LOVE this baby. however, something interesting happend to me last night...i was in 20% overclocking mode in turbogear and i did a 500/500 gpu overclock in rivatuner, then opened up cod2. at 1024 res with anti-aliasing at 2x and all settings maxxed, i capped the fps at 255 and was getting pretty much constant. well, needless to say a few mins in i started getting white squiggly lines all over the screen (kind of like what you see on your tv when you dont have cable) so i freaked out, closed cod and brought the gpu back to 400/475 or whatever the default is. i restarted and everything is working fine still.
i had speedfan running as well as a notebook cooler....and it didn't even sound like the turbo engines were running loud at all. any thoughts?
and while i'm on this topic, what have you guys found to be the "sweet spots" to overclock the gpu at? a level where you can run it fine for a few hours but get maximum performance. -
Those squiggly lines are artifacts that appear for different reasons. In your case because the overclock was a little too high. That is the thing about artificial benchmarks. They are too short too test real life application. That is why we need people like you to do real life tests to see where the sweet spot lies between stock and fried.
-
LOL! Ahh, I see. Yeah I guess assuming that because Alex was running 500/550 during his benchmarks with no problem I could run it like that in a game was a bad assumption. Good thing I didn't go up to 550...
oh and an fyi for anyone else who wants to experiment, it might have been a little over 500, i had knocked a few back earlier and I was using the slider bar to set the clock cause it wouldn't let me type in a number for some reason. so i wasn't entirely accurate. lol. it wouldn't have been too much though, maybe 510 on each. -
AlexOnFyre Needs to get back to work NBR Reviewer
I run 500/550 on a few games with no artifacting. The only time I get artifacting and crashes (when there is ANY OCing actually) is while DX10 effects are active. Like, I can play Supreme Commander and Trackmania for hours, no problem, but I can hardly get through the Lost Planet DX10 bench once before it crashes.
-
If that's the case, then why do you think it happend to me with a lower clock alex? cod2 is not a heavy game to run...it's dx7, and after all I was getting 255 constant FPS....
-
AlexOnFyre Needs to get back to work NBR Reviewer
I dunno, maybe DX9 is just more stable.
-
Evann, do you have artic silver on the gpu? I ran plently of test at 500/500 but when i change the gpu paste to artic silver it started artifacting. When I put that little thermal pad back on between the heatsink and gpu plate instead of the artic silver it ran fine again at 500/500...go figure.
-
no, I didn't put any arctic on the gpu, just the cpu.

That effect is called artifacting, it happens when a oc is too high. dont assume because one person can reach certian clocks you can duplicate it. Every card is an individual and has its own limits. Even if 10 people have 500/500 no problems you could have gotten the one runt in the family
Then beyond that it matters what games too, I had a very high OC on my 7800gtx and EVERY game I played it was fine, untill farcry... farcry was not even nearly as demanding as some of my other games but for some reason it caused artifacts, very small ones and I thought it was a video card drivers glitch... I tried everything to fix it, then one day as a last resort I lowered my clocks and boom!~ it was fixed. -

I'm just wondering if anyone has problems with their headphone jack on their C90s? For some reason my speakers cable doesn't really fit properly in the jack...
-

what would Turbo Gear Enhanced VGA possibly have to do with that problem?
