thanks guys, probably be sticking with these 10.5 for right now even though they bench lower but seem to be more stable and gave better contrast for colors. but 10.3 are stil the best for benches.

You're right man! I just checked and apparantly My Nvidia Control Panel was updated. For starters, it is now in Spanish (!) and the options have completely changed. PhysX (which I had disabled) is now set to automatic, an option my CP did not have before.

When I got some time I´ll run it again with PhysX switched off. (As I don't understand the numbers anyway, I don't notice stuff like that!)
Thanks for the update bro! At least now I have found oyt my Nvidia CP is completely vhanged.

Anyway to get the old one back?

BTW - Weird that PhysX wasn't on with the 3Dmark06 bench. If I remember well, there wasn't much time between them.

Lol, you cam download the older drivers on the nvidia website but u might want to stick to the new driver and try them out.

When it's auto it's on when it's set to gpu it's on when it's set to CPU it's off. Weired that it updated on u unless your drivers were the windows drivers and really old to justify an update.

I did indeed install the new drivers, that's why I ran the benches anyway. But does that automatically install a new Nvidia Control Panel? And if so, why wasn't PhysX enabled when I ran 3DMark06? Still weird.

Windows doesn't install any updates without my consent, by the way. Too many unnecessary crap in those updates!

Sorry for the delay guys, finally got a day off and updated the scores. Lookin good!

One reminder, make sure in your screen shots there are CPU-Z and GPU-Z to verify cpu/gpu clocks.

    Thanks!

    Scores updated.

Well i was bored last night and reinstalled the 257.15 drivers benched the same but this time im not having the flashes in the beginning of starting windows and WEI is back to normal too.

    score 13415

    gpu clocks were at 685/1150/1700

also does upping the memory voltage in the bios do anything score wise just looking around the bios last night and was wondering if it would give me a higher score.

I tried upping the voltage in the bios a few months ago just for the hell of it ;), the laptop wouldn't boot up till I reset the bios.

Hey guys, I've got some benchmark numbers for you in some interesting situations. I've got an 260M with a 920XM so throttling happens all the time, unless I use RivaTuner or disable SpeedStep. So here's three scenarios (with max temps):

    1. RivaTuner forced 3D Performance to 550/1375/950 (No Throttling)
      GPU 5056 (62C), CPU 15069 (76C), P6063
    2. Disable RivaTuner, use NST to OC to 680/1700/950 (Throttling about 50% of the time)
      GPU 4912 (66C), CPU 13785 (78C), P5854
    3. Disable RivaTuner, Disable SpeedStep, and use NST to OC to 680/1700/950 (No Throttling)
      GPU 5669 (67C), CPU 7486 (55C*), P6035

The three tests were done back-to-back (with just a reboot in between), so the max CPU temp for the last test was actually the temp at startup. Since SpeedStep was off, which I think also disables Turbo mode, I think the real max temperature during the run was around 50C. And this is with MX-3 on both the CPU and GPU.

I'm going to switch back to the RivaTuner fix (since I'd rather have a consistent gaming experience then dealing with random downthrottling during my game), but hopefully this information can be of use to some of you.

Nice scores and tests Identifier! Have you tried running the benchmark with NST GPU overclock and RivaTuner to prevent throttling?

I have, but with no success. When RivaTuner is set to force the constant 3D performance level, it makes it so that NST no longer has any effect. RivaTuner's clocks override the NST clocks. And RivaTuner's clocks can't go very high at all :(

Amazing scores. What in the world are you doing to that 920XM to crank it up that high? And what clock settings on the 5870? That's got to be the highest overall Vantage score for a single card notebook anywhere.

really, i don't have much to compare to it but number on here. the only thing i did was run throttle stop for the cpu, i didn't even up the multi. for the gpu i was running 930/1130 @ stock voltage. so you think its the highest vantage score overall? man i should do more bragging hahahah.

I haven't seen any better. When Mandrake had the 920/5870 Asus with the BIOS completely unlocked, supplemental power and the direct A/C cooling setup, he had "only" P10,679 (GPU=9,250 and CPU=19,904). At the end. he was running XPPro. That score was thought to safe until new equipment was available for laptops, but you've blown that theory all to hell. Congratulations. There is probably someone somewhere that's higher -- there always is -- but none that I know of in the NBR world. He got 17,191 in 3dMark06 with the same rig. You may as well take that one out too.

    Mandrake's score is here: http://go.notebookreview.com/?id=52...om/asus/458025-asus-g73-benchmark-thread.html

You might find this interesting. http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/458025-asus-g73-benchmark-thread.html It's the Asus G73 Benchmark thread, which saw the first 5870m's tested. You'll see that no one is within 1,000 points of Mandrake in Vantage or within 3,000 points in 3dMark06, partly because he was the only one with a 920XM. The Asus 5870's are weak compared to the ATI/Clevo cards, but the wide open BIOS for extreme processors opened up unlimited overclocking potential.

I honestly haven't went any higher than that. I'm a little hesitant to go much higher, as I'm afraid of damaging the card. At least right now when it's 30 degrees in the house. Man it's hot!

Still doesn't mean I'm not tempted, though. :p

How about testing at 700/1000, which brings it up to 5870 clocks to see how closely a mildly overclocked 5850 compares to the 5870? Thanks and +rep for your efforts.

Yeah I'm not sure what to do in order to increase my 3DMark06 score.

Would it possibly just be the card itself, or is it low for my specs? The two CPU tests I get 1 - 2 FPS max, is that normal?
