800/1100 seems as high as I can push the 5850. I'm was able to get multiple successful vantage runs with this overclock, scores were about the same as posted earlier. It will still crash 3DMark06.

800/1125 ran, albeit with artefacts... and the scores were no different than the 800/1100 run. With restarts between each run, two of the five runs were actually lower. And as with 800/1100 3DMark06 would crash instantly.

stable around 935-940 and memory around 1150. i think i can push the memory more but i don't see any gains in doing so.

Mine managed 935, crashed at 940 for my 820qm. As for memory, I did 1100 max. Didn't want ten test nynhigher especially since I was pretty new to ocing few months back.
I woulda though with a 920xm, you could get closer to 950 clocks.

You all just wait till I get my 940xm :p

We need more people oc'ing in the thread, especiallyn with 820qm's!

There are a few scores on the last 2-3 pages of this thread. So far seen it pushed to 800/1100, so actually that's pretty good.

do you have the 1080p screen cause its not then comparable to others who run at the stock settings as the res you need cannot be fulfilled by the 900p screen.

What kind of a score are you getting (A screen shot would be AWSOME)... i have a similar system but I am getting very low scores and I need something to compare it to when I talk to tech support.

i got the 13.4k score with the 257.15 drivers and ocing my gpu to 685/1150/1700 that's really the roof without a gpu bios flash. :D

im going to revert back to the 197.31 drivers as im having texture slow downs on any game so these drivers are not perfect(257.15).

1280x1024....Anything lower means the monitor cannot support that res. Anything higher means someone just wanted to test at the higher res.

    Great score Mandrake!
How would you compare the M15x to your G73?Besides one being bigger than the other.
I know performance is going to vary because of the different Gpu I'm mostly talking build quality and screen quality.
Lastly if you had to pick between the two, which one would you pick?

Put it this way, I sold the G73 and kept the M15x. ;)

I prefer the upgrade-ability (easy access and follows the MXM standard) and build quality of the M15x. They both have nice screens just the M15x has a huge LCD bezel which makes it look a little funny. The other thing I prefer about the G73 is that it's capable of two hard drives and the M15x isn't but the weight is still about the same. Also the CPU OC capbilites is much better in the G73. The upgrade-ability and build quality trumps any pluses of the G73.

    That's great to hear. :)
One more thing can you OC the CPU from the BIOS or do you need the ELEET software tool to do it?
How high can you get the 920XM in this laptop and is the power brick beefy enough to handle it?

you need eleet for oc'ing the 920, but only the multi can be change everything else is lock out because of the bios.

you can only up the multiplier, stock is 24x. so far the most i got is 26x but thats with extreme cooling. but i've seen it go higher. i think the 920 does better in a M15x then a M17x for some reason. i'm pretty new to bench and oc'ing myself, just waiting on mandrake to school us right now, hahahhaha
