I was debating between the m11x and m15x and finally broke down and ordered a m15x (i7-720, 260M, 4GB 1333, 250GB HDD which will be replaced with SSD). The waiting is killing me though!!!

You will love it. I currently have both an M15x and an M17x, and I was disappointed in the performance of the M15x until I discovered that McAffee's preload even with everything turned off was still hitting my disk causing delays in gaming. Once I disabled the realtime virus protection it was like night and day. Had I found this earlier I probably would have not opted to move up to an M17x, I was surprised how smooth it played once I got McAffee out of the way

Any comments would be very appreciated.

And hey inap did you get a chance to slap that BEAST in yet? :p .

Yeah got it yesterday and was to baked to do anything. Didn't even open up the box yet, hahaha I say go for the 5870 first. Ssd are getting cheaper everyday so wait abit and get the 256 when it is a decent price. Man so waxy today, I think I over did it last night lol

Go for the 5870 man, no doubt about it. I run a 160 intel SSD but I also carry a backup 320 with me lol for dls and storage. But definitely go GPU!

Just went into boxing today, will be part of the family soon. Man we sound like a whole bunch of mobsters lol.

I'd go with the GPU over the SSD too.

The 5870 just spanks the 260 BIG time.

You did really good man. It's the same system I got except a smaller HDD but you got the I7 instead of my I3. Was the $1100 including taxes? Because that's strange how that pricing worked out, mine was $994 before taxes and $1093 with taxes. Either way very nice!

Well, I thought I had the perfect computer as I haven't had ANY issues and the thing has just been blazing fast and stable since I got it - until an hour ago. lol

I ran furmark and intel burn test together while watching temps and multipliers with realtemp and clock tool.

I decided to pull the plug and when I disconnected AC from the system it shut off. I mean, it just turned itself off as soon as the plug came out.

So I started the machine back up on battery and decided to try the tests again while on battery to begin with (no AC).

I fired up my monitoring software first, then ran furmark. Everything was ok so far. As soon as I hit the start button on intel burn test the system shut off.

It isn't really a big deal just thought I'd share my experience.

    Any thoughts?

I made out like a bandit on eBay of all places (outlet was empty at the time), I got the system listed in my sig which included both a 128gb OCZ Apex SSD and a 320gb 7,200rpm sata drive. Still have like 280+ days on the 1 year warranty and no issues total was $986 after shipping and tax :D

Stick some good paste on there (mx3, shin etsu) and make sure to double up pads over the mosfets on the edge of the card to get good contact with the heatsink. Mine arrives tomorrow so I'll be doing the same thing and posting results and benchys.

blueray would be sweet, and also cheaper and easier to do ram replacement, then a blueray replacement.

ok I have 2 alienwares on order which one to cancel and which one to keep.

the only difference is one comes with 3gb ddr3 1066mhz 2 dimm and a slot load blu ray drive.

the other has a 6gb 1333mhz what to do also how many sticks is the 3gb u think and whats the difference performance wise, and how hard is it to add more or any ideas on what to get.

there are 2 ram slot, so 3gb is 1+2gb. and 6 is 4+2gb.
up to you most people get 4gb ram.
if you like to watch blueray movies then get the drive
if you do video encoding and alot of photoshop kind of stuff then you will benefit from the ram, otherwise it will just be wasted.

Aye man its soooo awsome.... especially for CGI modeling/animating/texturing (which is what i mostly do) other than that games are r like a no match, Running Crysis warhead maxedout @ 1080, with playble 20-30 fps.

I'v been through hell to get it (currently im in israel) but damn worth it =)

*installed the latest driver (197) w/o the "verde" thingy as i figured its mostly for running the nvidia 3D vision on external 120Hz monitor wich i dont have..

i really wish next driver will have the 3D discover option that only requires the usuall red/cyan anaglyph glasses and no 400$+ monitor

last thing - i didnt notice any changes after but it is still good to b up to date on drivers =), and ofc TY very much for the reply,

    CHEERS!

can you open alien fx at all?

    well try this first
    turn off
    unplug
    take battery out
and press power button for 20 sec.
put back and start up again to see if it works.

If not perhaps try reinstalling the Control Centre cos it flashes the AlienFX bios when you install it. That might fix it.. Just a guess, but no harm in trying :)
