Optimize? Just use it, really ;) lol

Anyway, just wanted to say congrats and I have been extremely impressed with this system so far myself.

I had bought the M15x when it first came out, but I wasn't as impressed back then.

Build quality is fantastic and the screen is great. So far I haven't noticed any processor throttling issues and Monday I will stress the crap out of this thing as soon as the 5870 arrives :D

Monday will be a busy day - gotta pop in the 5870 and SSD and do a fresh install.

Then I will stress and bench the rest of the day and then on to gaming!!! :D

the last driver 197.16 IIRC is pretty great, it handles great OC and its very stable. Plus with the bios A05, all the games will run reaallyyy smoothly!

I have the mamba now and owned an orochi too.

Both are great but the nod def goes to the mamba. Best mouse I have ever used.

Just bought the wife a logitech performance mx and she loves it. Very good mouse as well.

Performance MX > Razer simply because the Razer has that bulky receiver. If they had a tiny receiver like Logitech, I'd have kept my mamba.

I have a question about PhysX. Since I don't game and do not run heavy 3D applications, would it be better to switch off PhysX or doesn't it make a big difference?

I have got logitech g9x, g9 and microsoft sidewinder x5. G9x wins hands down... But if you want a wireless then Mamba is the way forward... for gaming... If you don't mind the wires then Razer Deatheader is good as well...

Mind as well leave it on, as it helps out your cpu with physics calculations. How much does it gets used while not gaming? probably not all . But it doesn't hurt to leave it on, so why turn it off? :D

    hope this helps

I'm thinking about starting up WoW again, I have yet to test it on my config so I'm not sure how many FPS I'll get. Any suggestions for a driver and what settings I should have in the nvidia control panel?

I just want tons of eye candy and high fps, best of the best.

On my computer in my sig. I have it running at 1920 x 1080 everything max shadows lowest and i never go below 30 fps avg is around 50. Mind you i am a lvl 49 paladin so im not raiding or anything. But in Dalarin i get 40 fps

I tried a trial account before activating my real account. 60-80 FPS in the starting areas with a bunch of people and npcs around. 240 FPS in buildings. That's with a couple web pages up, programs, and some high latency. Not bad though, hopefully that 60FPS stays up in real cities

I keep the game in windowed mode so I can stretch it around and get to my desktop easier, what do you suggest I keep the games resolution at? Will that affect fps at all?

Is there any little program I can run in the background to determine my FPS in other games?

All on enthusiast, except shadows. 1600x900

Yep... thats normal... try OC ur gtx260m for extra 4-5fps gains... U can also lower down ur AA and AF because too many pixels per inch any ways...

I would like to ask the m15x owners how their overall experience with the laptop is. I am considering a $3650 m15x with the specs:

    Alienware M15x, Lunar Shadow
    Intel Core i7 920XM 2.0GHz (3.2GHz Turbo Mode, 8MB Cache)
    Genuine Windows® 7 Ultimate, 64bit, English
    1GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 260M
    15.6-inch WideFHD 1920x1080 (1080p) WLED
    8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz – 2 x 4096MB
    500GB SATAII 7,200RPM
    Slot-Loading Dual Layer Blu-ray Burner (BR-R, DVD+-RW, CD-RW)
    Primary - 9-cell (85Watt) Lithium-Ion Battery
Intel WiFi Link 5300 802.11AGN Half Mini Card

Is it worth the money? Everyone else is suggesting me an Asus G73.

Skip the 8gb RAM, not worth it. G73 is good but runs pretty hot and the build quality/ feel is not up to par with the M15x, though some may debate otherwise.

Ok noob OC'ing question time :)

I dl'ed the Nvidia System Tools (v6.06) and i already have the newest driver installed (197.16), when i try to OC the 260m using the Nvidia Control Panel to 600/1000/1500. I keep getting an error saying "The Changes made were invalid and will not be applied" but i have no clue why they are invalid. This is really my first attempt at OC'ing, so there is possibly something really simple I am missing.

    Any help would be appreciated.
