-
Playtime.............. -
yea after a few tests lol
-
Everybody is really curious about that 620M. How does it feel not to be typing on an "open casket" anymore? LOL
-
yea that avatar was the comp i was using before hand lol now its closed up and no more overclocking it lol
now im just dling a ton of and getting everything ready for 3dmark06 / vantage
it came installed with A05 so no real need to flash the bios and the 620m has got me pumped also from what sleey0 has said about it -
Nice, cant wait to see some benchies!
Congratz! It's one awesome computer! -
also whats the best way to optimize the wireless card sadly im stuck using g wireless any input is appreciated
-
Optimize? Just use it, really
lol
Anyway, just wanted to say congrats and I have been extremely impressed with this system so far myself.
I had bought the M15x when it first came out, but I wasn't as impressed back then.
Build quality is fantastic and the screen is great. So far I haven't noticed any processor throttling issues and Monday I will stress the crap out of this thing as soon as the 5870 arrives
Monday will be a busy day - gotta pop in the 5870 and SSD and do a fresh install.
Then I will stress and bench the rest of the day and then on to gaming!!! -
lol right yea im impressed alot by the build quality and its nice to see that A05 is being used in the factory
-
Hehe, I know right? this system is my baby, I loved him since the first boot
-
should i dl the latest drivers from nvidia if not let me know to lazy to go searching through the forum lol
-
Hey congrats on the arrival. I'm excited to get mine soon, hopefully. Yeah go try the new drivers out for sure.

Just sold my Mx revolution desktop, what mouse should I buy? Thinking about the Razer Mamba, looks soo sexy
-
I have the mamba now and owned an orochi too.
Both are great but the nod def goes to the mamba. Best mouse I have ever used.
Just bought the wife a logitech performance mx and she loves it. Very good mouse as well. -
same here own mamba and orichi too. both are overpriced and awesome, lol.
especially the mamba is why overpriced wish they would just sell it in a normal box to make it cheaper. -
Performance MX > Razer simply because the Razer has that bulky receiver. If they had a tiny receiver like Logitech, I'd have kept my mamba.
-
here is 3dmark06 with 197.16 drivers stock clocks -
Either one is good and you can't go wrong either way. -
here is 3dmark vantage i believe phsx is enabled -
Any further word on the 5870's being official for the M15x?
I feel like weeping now as i actually have the cash too :'( -
-
they should be coming soon but no one knows the release date yet. alot of people have been ordering the 5870 seperately and putting it in themselves. but hopefully soon the M15x will be release with them.
-
The mamba doesnt work with in bluetooth?
:O
Baw, Shucks.
Edit:
I just need a wireless gaming mouse now that I should my MX.. Stuck with a old and crappy WIRED mouse.. -
Jeez I should've got the 620m, I get 10500 @ stock clocks.
try overclocking it. Lemme see how for it goes! -
k gotta dl nst first
-
I'm not hardcore enough to fit teh 5870 in the M15x aha
The waiting continues....sucks trying to get discounts in the UK too...
Still, I can't wait to join the family!! -
this is the gpu oced to 650/1050/1500 i was impressed i mactched the 5870 stock score -
I have a question about PhysX. Since I don't game and do not run heavy 3D applications, would it be better to switch off PhysX or doesn't it make a big difference?

I have got logitech g9x, g9 and microsoft sidewinder x5. G9x wins hands down... But if you want a wireless then Mamba is the way forward... for gaming... If you don't mind the wires then Razer Deatheader is good as well...

I think it doesn't matter if you switch it off... -
hope this helps -
Brendanmurphy Your Worst Nightmare
How soon do you think it will be for an M15x refresh? Maybe with graphics switching for better battery life?
-
we're just around the corner mate

I'm thinking about starting up WoW again, I have yet to test it on my config so I'm not sure how many FPS I'll get. Any suggestions for a driver and what settings I should have in the nvidia control panel?
I just want tons of eye candy and high fps, best of the best. -

I tried a trial account before activating my real account. 60-80 FPS in the starting areas with a bunch of people and npcs around. 240 FPS in buildings. That's with a couple web pages up, programs, and some high latency. Not bad though, hopefully that 60FPS stays up in real cities
I keep the game in windowed mode so I can stretch it around and get to my desktop easier, what do you suggest I keep the games resolution at? Will that affect fps at all?
Is there any little program I can run in the background to determine my FPS in other games? -
I sure am so far, although I haven't put it through it's paces quite yet

Fraps

Thanks for your quick answers guys - Appreciate it. I will just leave PhysX on, as it does not have any negative influence anyway.

Just tried Crysis: warhead and was getting around 20-24 fps according to fraps.
All on enthusiast, except shadows. 1600x900
is that a normal fps count? Anyone else run that game? -
but sadly gonna have to call dell and report the fact i have a dead pixel starring me dead in the face its so noticeable especially during gaming like o well new replacement in a couple weeks from now
well after using JCscreen to try and fix it i then did a hard power reset and hooray my screen is back to perfection -
thewhitewizard Notebook Evangelist
Yep... thats normal... try OC ur gtx260m for extra 4-5fps gains... U can also lower down ur AA and AF because too many pixels per inch any ways...

I guess it's not too bad, didn't really notice any stuttering except when I hit checkpoints.
Installing AutoCAD, photoshop, and hopefully Sims3 cd's [If i can find a cd key somewhere]
-
ok just ran the dpc latency and its interesting with how the results end up with yellow a lot so im wondering sleey0 if you had any input on this
here's the prob i get spikes whenever causing audio dropouts for a split second
anyone think i should do a fresh install?? -
I would like to ask the m15x owners how their overall experience with the laptop is. I am considering a $3650 m15x with the specs:
Alienware M15x, Lunar Shadow
Intel Core i7 920XM 2.0GHz (3.2GHz Turbo Mode, 8MB Cache)
Genuine Windows® 7 Ultimate, 64bit, English
1GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 260M
15.6-inch WideFHD 1920x1080 (1080p) WLED
8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz – 2 x 4096MB
500GB SATAII 7,200RPM
Slot-Loading Dual Layer Blu-ray Burner (BR-R, DVD+-RW, CD-RW)
Primary - 9-cell (85Watt) Lithium-Ion Battery
Intel WiFi Link 5300 802.11AGN Half Mini Card
Is it worth the money? Everyone else is suggesting me an Asus G73. -
Skip the 8gb RAM, not worth it. G73 is good but runs pretty hot and the build quality/ feel is not up to par with the M15x, though some may debate otherwise.

Ok noob OC'ing question time
I dl'ed the Nvidia System Tools (v6.06) and i already have the newest driver installed (197.16), when i try to OC the 260m using the Nvidia Control Panel to 600/1000/1500. I keep getting an error saying "The Changes made were invalid and will not be applied" but i have no clue why they are invalid. This is really my first attempt at OC'ing, so there is possibly something really simple I am missing.
Any help would be appreciated.
