in imgburn, i just selected burn file to disc or w/e it says, then i just search for the (still zipped file) that i got from dells website and put that in there. then it'll work right?
or do i have to unzip the file first onto my desktop then search for it? -
no keep it zipped then the burner will see it as an cd image file

yeah its just a port from a console, not especially made for pc. sad but more and more games are like that, pc's not getting alot of love.
but i hear that games plays pretty good if you just lower the viewing distance, sorry like i said i don't play that game. well actually i did play it for ps3 but got no where with the game, just ended up drivng over alot of people and killing a bunch of cops.lol -
Hey Guys I've Been Following this some time now, I just wanted to let you guys know. For every one who has the Problem with sound and still have only the single C-Sub port. I you have this problem reinstall the idt drivers go into the idt audio control panel and where it says right side panel right click mic and click device : centre should fix your sound and 3 audio jack problems. let me know if this fixes it for you guys. it did for me
-
thewhitewizard Notebook Evangelist
Awesome man ... that fixes the issue.. -
No problems wizz, thanks to u guys i've been enjoying my m15x, so once i figured out this fix i thought it be great to share with u guys, enjoy everyone =)
-
thewhitewizard Notebook Evangelist
it just gives you three jacks in the info... cannot comment on sound tearing though because already resolved it..
EDIT: C-sub in jack info doesn't cause the sound tearing, it is only the hardware that causes the sound tearing..
Maybe becuase it is stressing the cpu a lot.. lemme check .. will get back to u guys.. -
I use to have excessive tearing with audio before, but as soon as i fixed the 3 audio jack problem the sound tearing with idt drivers was fixed for me as well, so i assumed this was the correct fix for anyone who has audio tearing with the idt drivers.
-
sweet thanks bro, i didn't have audio tearing but at least the 3 jacks are showing up again, lol
+rep haha sweet a dude with only 3 post sovled the issue, lol. -

Ok guys... A05 doesn't solve throttling..
When playing prototype... I found out that there was some chip modulation kicking in and the gpu was also downclocked to 2d clocks for few seconds though(happens randomly many times but not very frequent)....
Have a look at this.
Note: when chip modulation throttling kicks in . Gpu downclocks as well..(Same time) -
Ugh weird, I havent experienced a single bit of gpu throttling since I got my M15x, but that definatly does shucks
-
thewhitewizard Notebook Evangelist
Have already played many games like bfbc2, nfs shift, crysis, left4dead, star wars, mw2 etc. ... never experienced any throttling. only in this specific game... think it is cpu intensive...
-
yeah that must be it..
Now that you're at it, your opinion on BFBC2?
Worth the upgrade from MW2? -
thewhitewizard Notebook Evangelist
if you like mw2... you will def like bfbc2... its awesome... but pretty much like mw2 but is more action packed...

I have the same issue. My memory clock is now defaulting to 950.4. Does anyone know why this happens? I don't know how long its been this way, but I know that it used to be 950 even.
I noticed it because I was having a problem completely disabling Rivatuner. Even after I de-selected "Enable driver level hardware overclocking", it was still acting like it was running. Windows was asking me to allow the program to run everytime I started Windows. The only difference is instead of the clocks that I had selected (550/1350/950), it would now only run "stealth mode" clocks (383/767/301), until I re-checked "enable driver level hardware overclocking" and selected the correct clocks again. So I uninstalled rivatuner and my clocks returned to the correct defaults except for the memory clock being 950.4. So I uninstalled my nvidia drivers and ran driver sweeper and its still stuck at 950.4. And YES I checked several times with each setting change to see if stealth mode was the culprit and its not. Any suggestions? -
thewhitewizard Notebook Evangelist
GPU-Z is the culprit not your drivers... -
happy easter everyone
or.. passover -

Thanks for the help, I'll have to update it later today. How long does it take about?
-
haha Happy Easter all! I have a question about the M15x... I have the current system listed in my signature, however, I am having countless issues and Dell is offering me a refund. I am starting to look at Alienware because the build quality and performance is just so amazing. The only things I am worried about are as follows:
Size - I don't mind gaining a few pounds, but is the M15x really as big as some claim? It's starting to scare me away how big people make it sound.
Hardware - I know the current hardware is great, but as I was surfing these forums, I saw people talking about the fact that there may be a hardware refresh in the very near future (within weeks). Can this be confirmed by anyone?
I really appreciate all of your help and I hope some of you are able to clear this up for me! -
well they just released a new bios that support the 5870's so a gpu refresh should be around the corner. the M15x is the size of a regular 17" laptop. size is about 15" across and 11.5" wide and about 1.5" thick. yeah can't go wrong with one of these bad boys.
-
-
Yeah sure!
Though the AW is kinda hard on the lap, because of the fan and all..
But I'm just like you, my M15x is pretty much always on my desk, I move it form time to time to get it in front of my TV or in my bed and all, no prob, just get a good bag to move it around!
But it's definatly gonna be a huge weight gain from the SXPS!
For the hardware problem, I have experienced no problem whatsoever! I had a bios issue this week-end but that was entirely by fault!
This computer is great! plus you get the Alienware "wow" effect
Inap; are you around? I'm thinking of buying a 160GB SSD, I was wondering how you dealt with such small storage :O -
I have a 1tb external hard drive where I keep all of my stuff. And only keep the stuff I use daily on my ssd. I have about 4-5 games and about 2 gb of music and about 20 apps and still have about 40 gb left. It's really not that bad. But I think 160 gb is a minimum, I don't know how people do it with only 60-80 gb
-
yea 160 is prob as low as i would go... but considering ihave 80gigs of music... itll be brutal...
are ssd's like Hdd that get slow when almost full? or you can have like 5gigs free and still be blazing fast? -
Man j, thought you prob be drunk off your bum by rite now, lol
Yeah I think it recommended to keep like a few gb free but I did have it almost full for awhile and didn't really see any decrease in performance. -
Yeah I got a terabyte external HDD too, but I find it slow. I found a way, for about 70$ [or 17$, thanks newegg.ca] I can make my 500gb current HDD into a portable external HDD with esata port, aka much faster!
Though 400$ is expensive as hell, is it really worth it? O_O -
I think it's worth it for overall performance gains. The hard drive is your biggest bottle neck in the system and once you move to a ssd, your system will feel totally different.
-
Yay just had a email from dell saying that my m15x should be here on the 8/4/10 instead of the 19/4/10, These last few days are going to kill me.
-
thewhitewizard Notebook Evangelist
I've got two 1TB external hard drives. lolz... But yes you get a huge performance increases with SSD.. try checking out the performance difference on youtube. Going to buy an Intel X-25 160gb myself as well.
It's the same hard drive which J & Inap have..

Sorry to bring this up again but I have never made a bootable cd before and I want to update my bios. After reading the posts on this subject I want to see if I have this correct so....
I download the zip file from Dell and save it to my desktop
Right click file and select Nero and burn disk
Reinsert disk and F12 to boot from cd
If the above is correct I have 2 questions....1. What Nero program do I buy. I went to their site and not sure. 2. Once I have booted from cd and it runs what do I do next? I am not dumb when it comes to computers but am leary when I have not done something like this before and would like to learn how instead of taking it somewhere to have it done.
Soccer Thierry - I see you used Majic ISO -
Anyone know what drivers pertain directly to the built in web cam and microphone? For whatever reason mine simply will not work anymore. Everytime I go into device manager its disabled and when I enable it I only get the rainbow screen effect.
-
-
I burned the ISO by right clicking it and selecting Burn to disc
It's an integral function of Windows7.. No software needed.
If you don't see the option, "open with" windows disc image burner.. Et voila -
Okay thanks but once I have it on disk and and hit F12 to boot from it what happens after that? Will it just install the updated bios and restart my machine? Like I said, I have never done this before so need to know what to expect after I boot with it.
-
its really easy all you have to do is press y when ask to update.
-
Lol yea i wass trust me... decided not to make a fool outta myself this time though ..lol.. -

just got my bios up to A05 1.00 , what exactly does this fix?
Sometimes I'd notice my powerbutton and back alienhead logo would turn off their lights randomly, will that fix it? -
Couple of cool stuff someone listed earlier, too lazy to check it out.
Anyone need the MX 5500 revolution cordless desktop? I need money for a SSD -
-
-
Dude inap, you have 1234 posts! =o
