So all that uninstalling fixed the 3d clocks problem...it was probably because i had too many GPU-modding-related softwares installed at the same time (Nhancer,NST,Rivatuner,) .. but it was most prob Nhancer as this was the last thign i installed... anywho... still have the fast acess facial recognition problem...

guess i'll wait for inappropiate...he's the master of the facial recognition problem lol...is prob an easy fix.. just who feels like looking for it...? not me. lol

Yeah well I heard the 620 is better for gaming since its a dual core clocked faster! Really nice, the 260M is still top of the line, 4gb of ram is plenty enough, and I heard the 1080p screen is crazy! So overall, awesome deal!

Also, lol @ JStarnino, Uninstalling rage is never a good idea, I did the same thing yesterday trying to fix my system performance tool :p
Errr, I'll wish you luck on this one and go back to my chemistry lab >.>

yea this is optimized for straight up gaming but also the ability to actually last longer than just 2 hours on battery in stealth mode cause the cpu takes 10 watts less than the 720 but the 720 is better for almost any video and imaging editing program but i don't mind and have a faster gaming lappy.

Also i cant wait to see the difference in certain games like big rts's and what kind of a difference it will have in fps games also i looked back a bit this forum and saw that you set the logical cores if a program can only use 2 so i liked the idea that i will have the ability to fully utilize the cpu's raw power in game.

My first reaction is WhY?!? and second its way too expensive for something that is not necessary and is much cheaper to buy regular disk hd's. but :D if i had the money and would want such a thing i would but that's just me lol.

also there's new tech in the next couple of years to make that obsolete so i would advise to not buy cause the new ssd that are being developed are to be 10 times more efficient and much less expensive.

For what do you need it? It will certainly not fit your laptop, as you it is a 3.5 inch hdd, compared to the 2..5 inch in laptops. For a desktop, I think I would just buy 4 250 Gb drives.

There is ALWAYS new tech just around the corner. The problem is the time. If you can spare the time to wait, then maybe you should, but sometimes having something now is more important than having something superior in a year.

Personally I think it's always about how important it is. When your disk accesses become 100 times faster and your data rate goes up by a factor of 2 or more then your overall computing experience is improved vastly.

I've been using an SSD for over a year and it makes a huge difference. This M15X was super slow with a magnetic hard disk (boot up and application loading, level loads and sometimes in-game loading were very slow in comparison)..

If I could suggest though, buying an SSD from Dell might not be the best option. I think you'll find a better drive/deal elsewhere.

In computing you are always paying a premium to own the newer tech and SSD is now generation 2 so well worth it. If you wait you will get a better cheaper drive next year, but it's always like that with computers.

Congrats!! Here are a few essential tools I'd recommend:

SSD Tweaker (tweak settings to make SSD usage more efficient)
    http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showthread.php?49779-SSD-Tweak-Utility

Gamebooster (disables services and tasks to make sure they don't take up cpu-time while you're playing a game)
    http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html

Everest (great system information and benchmark utility)
    http://www.lavalys.com/

    GPU-z (GPU monitoring)
    http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/

Media Player Classic HC (plays everything with no codec installs and uses GPU to decode Blu-ray (h264) and DVD (mpeg2)
    http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/

    3DMark (a range of 3d benchmarks)
    www.futuremark.com

Nvidia tech demos (Some nice graphic demos)
    www.nvidia.com/object/cool_stuff.html#/demos/1

Just a few there, I hope that helps get you started!

Well I tried the new Nvidia drivers and was disappointed to find audio over Displayport still does not work. It didn't work with the 195.xx drivers and it doesn't work with 197.17. I'm back on the 186.81 drivers which work just fine. To top it off there was virtually no difference between then in 3DMark Vantage benchmarks:

    197.17 Score = 4976
    Test 1 FPS = 14.67
    Test 2 FPS = 14.48

    186.81 = 4961
    Test 1 FPS = 14.60
    Test 2 FPS = 14.46

As a side note, I uninstalled my IDT audio driver a while ago due to some flash issues, so you might try that to get audio over DP working. I think it also helped general sound quality (no irregular noises from the speakers or headphones).

Hello just thought I'd post a little message saying that after lots of research into if I should get the m11x or the m15x I went for the latter, but I think I got a good set up

    Lunar Silver
    i7 720QM 1.6ghz
    4Gb 1333 DDR
    500Gb 7200 HD
    1920x1080 WLED
    1GB GTX 260M
DVD DVD+/-RW (this is a bit of a let down as I couldn't get Blu Ray on the UK site :( )

Which should hopefully be here the middle of April

Edit Bugger when I ordered the bloody laptop I couldn't select the BluRay option but just had a look now and its back!

hold on here...before you start messing with drivers for no reason... just to make sure... you do know you can't just plug it in and expect audio to automatically work over the Display port right? i ask this because thats what i assumed when i first tried it out... you have to rightclick on the volume icon on the bottom right of the screen, select playback devices...then right-click on speakers/headphones and disable it....then right-click on Display Port and select Enable. It won't work if both Speakers and Display Port is enabled...

Not sure if you know this already or not... but if you did this and it doesn't work...then i'll look into your problem further to help ya' out...let me know ;)

Yep. If you have any earphones (iphone earphones preferred) play some rnb with max volume.. Check if the sound tears...

    You can also check this...

Go to control panel>hardware and sound> manage audio devices> speaker properties.. How many jacks are listed in the jack info. If three u are alriht with the issue but if only one wib c sub listed then #*^^#*<*
