Just fired up Bad Company 2...And man this game really looks awesome
Also, after hearing that the game was demanding....i was surprised to see that with settings on : 1080p/Vsync On/HBAO off/AA 2x/AF 16/All on HIGH
i was avrging 30-40Fps sometimes even 50fps.... with my lowest dips down to 23-25fps but only for a second...quite amazing if you ask me...This game runs beautifully! -
Yo thanks again Jstarino and pickles. I feel so relieved now. Oh and Soysauce, id still be ok if they have to hold it for 1 extra day but about the closed box thing, I dont understand. Do they open your box in the pickup place?
Oh and Damn inappropriate_name3, your beast is better thn mine and u still want it lol, greedy -
I meant like the big container that comes off the plane with all our shipments, supposedly they have to open them at a certain time. Don't quote me on that though.

Man slow day for the M15x thread. Well just to let you guys know, i finally did recover most of my external hard drive, so thats sweet. if anyone runs into this problem i recommend a program called getdataback, it totally awesome. i tried like 6-7 different recovery programs, this program recovered 90-95% of my files and folder with the directories and subfolder intacked. and it was really simple to use also.

rrrrrrrreeeeaalllyyyyyyyyy sssslllooowwwwwwwwwww....lol

finally got my M15X.
very pleased with everything, a real mind blower.
happy new member of Alienware australia -
Welcome aboard mate! You'll see, you can just love it more and more everyday!
though I have a little question for you guys, Can someone tell me is there a way to make the media buttons work with VLC? It's kinda odd -
Congratulations! It's a great machine!
Enjoy it. -
Congrats!
I'm still enjoying mine more every day (except for one day that I enjoyed it a little bit less). It's a solid built performer -
I just got my 5th M15x...this one looks to be good, however the fan on this one is LOUD. Sounds like when you turn a fishing rod at a really slow pace and its VERY annoying.
I still have my other M15x....should I go ahead and swap out the fans before I send it back to dell? Any instructions on opening the M15x on these forums? Help would be appreciated! -
Yep swap them out. It's a very simple process, remove the bottom cover, unscrew the fan, remove the power cable and you're done. Shouldn't take longer than 10 minutes for the entire process. -
-
Alright....Laptop is MUCH quieter now and about perfect. My media strip stopped working...if I remember correctly, I shut down, take out the battery and hold the power button down for 30 seconds? Can someone confirm this?
Here are the 2 bad boys side by side:
Here is under the hood:
I apologize for the bad photo quality, but the fan on the right was faulty...the brand is AVC:
-
^^^ yes do the steps above, and congrats again, last time hopefully, lol
-
awesome pics man....if you think about it price-wise thats like a small car right there loll...but that sure looks sweet...too bad you've got to give one back... see what else u can swap.. maybe check the ram sticks? and try to pair up two of the same? or do some research on which ones more reliable? why not... its not everday u got two side by side... ( well in ur case its about once a month lmao...sorry) hopefully... your set now...for good.

It sure would be tempting. Actually they should give it to you after all you have been through. Congrats vafaskillz, enjoy your machine.

Congratz vafaskillz... I have 2 m15x's as well...
Can you check your jack information... From control panel>hardware and sound> manage audio devices> speaker properties
Do you just get a single c sub listed in jack information or does it list three jacks -

I have got my motherboard, I/O and connectors replaced and the issue is fixed for me. But just curious about the issue. Because few users have had this problem.
It seems like a two part problem one is linked to a driver issue and the other is linked to the I/O board and the connectors to the motherboard -
Cuz if it were me... i wouldn't think twice hehehe...but then again im just awfully evil  -
The long road is over and now I am owning an even more bad machine with some serious freebies. Thanks guys...and I will be hanging around to help anyone who needs it....my specialty is returns, patience, and some serious complaining skillz <3
Oh, speaking of which....now I have 2 4gig sticks of samsung memory...do I need to change anything in the bios to make the memory run faster? Before I had one 4 gig stick of samsung, and a 2 gig no namer... -
should be automatic, but check bios aways. mmummmm gotta love free stuff. maybe time for me to break something, i love free stuff, lol j/k
man that stuff is strong airsinner, i think i got me some second hand action going on,lol -

sorry i would of help earlier but i'm not really a pro at oc'ing, i just dabble with it from time to time and thought someone with better knowledge would of jumped in. From what i read from that posts, working with one parameter at a time, you can easily find the max of that parameter then set it back and start on another one, seem logical to me, the other method you method is good too, but when the clocks are not stable, your just taking a wild guess to which parameter is too high, while both works, the first method seem more precise. and again i'm not a pro but it just my thoughts.

Different games stress different clocks. Some games like F.E.A.R. 2 will have more fps gains when GPU clock is higher. Since, games like F.E.A.R. 2 require more processing related to input assembler, vertex, geometry, and fragment thread scheduling, triangle setup, rasterization, texture address and filtering and all these are Core clock controls.
But some games which are more texture fill rate limited or shader clock intensive and heavily use SMS 3.0 will gain more performance with haigher shader clocks like Bio shock 2 .
Now, if you know the maximum clocks of your gpu's core, memory and shader you can set it differently for different games. In games which are shader intensive you can increase the shader clock and giving the core clock a slight push and you will have a stable clock because you are not pushing the core clock very high. Same goes with the core clock intensive games.
Very few games stress the memory clock. So it is not very useful to push the memory clocks.
So, you need to know stable max amount for you each parameter so you can use different combinations for different games with max stability and low temps...
Btw you can use both methods to OC. but it is about doing it in the most effective and efficient way(low temp, max stability, max performance). This can be done when you increase the parameter which is really required or limited. -
If you want the MAX in all 3 though, you have to go one by one like you said....then raise all 3...and if unstable... either flash your gpu to 1.v for stability...or...if you dont want to do that...lower each one by 2-3 notches...one at a time.. and test for stability... this is a painfully slow procedure...but if you found your stable clocks in one shot... now that woul djust take the fun out of Ocing wouldn't it... -
Does anyone have any ideas as to why the Just cause 2 Demo crashes on my M15x. It becomes unresponsive so I get no errors or anything like that. I think its a Graphic settings because when I down scale all the graphics it plays fine.
-
I've been playing Just Cause 2 Just fine on my M15x without changing the default graphic settings sans the resolution.
Perhaps it's a bad install or driver issue? -
hows the game play on just cause 2, any good. didn't play part 1 so was wondering.
