    Yup, I think 3k is possible but jeebus is that low compared to the scores we were seeing in even Vantage let alone 06. Shoot I pulled over triple that with an i5 lol.

    Inap's P2790 run was at 960/1135 and with a 940XM. That's a very potent combination and a great score under 3dMark11, but doesn't leave much room to the upside. This benchmark bears no relationship to Vantage or 3dMark06. It's sort of silly that the Performance level (1280x720) is that demanding. If these overclocked M15x's struggle like this, you can imagine what the test(s) do to the vast majority of notebooks, including many that function very well with most modern games.

    Well said, J-Star. Interesting to note that early results show overclocked 460M's to be topping out around P2200 (@825/1650/1450 with 820QM). Thought they might score higher. Haven't seen any 470M scores yet.

    WOW!!!! :eek: That's insane, shoot you're gonna be lucky to hit 4k OC'd on xfire, that just shows 2 things 1-how dated the other benchmarks are 2-how low the highest laptop is in comparison to a good desktop lol.

    Edit:My m11x is now in the corner wimpering with it's tail between it's legs after seeing that score lol.

    But that's with a 920 or 940xm too isn't it? That's still nutz, his rig would have scored 15-20k on Vantage without blinking an eye.

    None of the Mac's are even capable of running 3d Mark 11 are they? The last time I saw none of them had a DX11 card which I thought was a requirement for this version of 3dMark?

    Newbie here jumping on board.

    Which is best to use for benchmarking?

    3DMark 11, PCMark Vantage, 3DMark Vantage or 3DMark 06?

    Does having extended configuration cause any drops in performance?

    What are the 5870 stock clocks?

    hey guyz just wanted to ask here instead of creating new thread.

    Does the driver frm ati website is any good compared to Dell drivers for ati 5850.
    Also is it recommended to use ati driver or should I stick with the dell driver.

    There is a real difference, especially since Dell only updates drivers every once in a while(sometimes as long as 6-12 months) when I was running my 5850 the dell drivers were a few months behind and didn't put out anywhere near the same performance as ATi direct drivers did.

    No they're slightly different, try them out they net a few hundred points difference in Vantage with the same exact version driver when comparing Dell VS Ati. Dell tweaks the drivers slightly for more stability and a bit less performance.

    Pretty much lol, honestly the thing I've told most people is this:
    -If you want a bit more stability and aren't worried about the cutting edge on performance then go with the Dell driver.

    -If you want cutting edge performance for benchmarking and high overclocks with the risk of possible stability loss then go ATi.

    I can't tell you for certain what the exact differences between the two are but I know Dell tweaks every driver they stick on their website, the main reason being that the Dell hardware ends up being slightly different. Case in point compare the performance level of a Dell 5850 to an Msi GX640's 5850 :D

    haha good point. it makes sense that they do that though, most people buy a computer(dell) for stability, and a company like Dell need stability in there computers. and a select few who are "techy" go for the benchmarks.

    @ latinracer -- Be smarter to back it down to 800/1075 and slowly build up from there. Only a handful of cards can operate with VRAM at 1200 or even 1150.

    New drivers, probably 10.12 Betas but still showing as 11.11 w/ 12.06 display driver, available. Been using for a couple of hours. Said to be big boost in Black Ops and Bad Company, particularly in CrossFire setups. Try at your own risk.

    I was actually following the quoted post.

    850/1100 @ 1.00v --> no go, it freezes
    700/1000 @ 1.00v --> Works fine.

    Goal: GPU OC for better FPS game performance.

    Is this the GPU OC modding thread that I should follow?

    Can I use MSI afterburner instead of the AMD Gpu app?
