Expecting it today or tomorrow? When you do get it be sure to update to the most recent catalyst control center and run a 3dMark/Vantage run. We are all waiting desperately for some real bench's.

Bencmarks would be great! I also have a new M15x with 5850 that was delivered yesterday, haven't opened it yet. Am really curious to how it would perform, but I think I may sell it here and get a 5870x2 instead. Do you think opening the box will affect the resale value at all?

I called Purolator since it is after 5:00. The customer service agent told me that 2% of their calls are wrong, and that they are sorry for the inconvenience and that it will be here tomorrow. Argh!

Good thing it's a long weekend!

I know this question is a little off topic but which processor would be best (by best I mean best value, gaming performance, etc) for this gaming laptop. I know i7 are nice but i3 is way cheaper. In case you say i7 which one the 620m or 720qm? Thanks

Awesome that looks very much like the GTX 260 heatsink but can someone confirm that (Innap) since I don't much feel like ripping open the bottom of my laptop to make sure :p

I personally went with the 720QM because I tend to have many applications of firefox & IE running, dreamweaver, photoshop, ftp application, outlook... the list goes on.

620M has higher clock rates while in turbo mode, and will most likely get better performance in applications which do not utilize a quad-core's full capabilities.

    Edit: See this thread.

Haha the thing has a crossfire connector! Someone could grab two of those, flash them to 5870 and throw them in an M17x-R2.

Okay I opened my system and did some benchs, I have the i3 330 in it right now. I have stock vantage and OCed it to 775/1100 haven't tried further, but I did run furmark at OCed speed and got 92 on stock paste which is just incredible. Pics are below. Also I am selling this system for a 17 inch and my ad is in the marketplace if anyone is interested

i330 with 5850 stock (didn't have any problems with PCI-E bus at 1x)

    http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/1372/m15x5850i3330.jpg

    5850 OCed to 775/1100

Furmark at 775/1100 on stock paste

    http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/5919/furmarkoc.jpg

I'm really impressed with the temps with stock speeds and MX-3 this thing could probably do close to 80 on furmark which is almost in the same league as the Clevos

Gah. I can't get mplayer, VLC, or any GOG.com games to run on this system. Blood runs horribly. Mplayer crashes. When I run the drivers disc from AW it tells me I have another video card (what?).

    I have a Ati Radeon 5850.

So here's an update on my shipment. Purolator lost track of it. It was apparently put on the truck for shipment yesterday at 1:30 PM in Saskatoon. It should have been here at around 4:00, according to every rep I talked to. Saskatoon is about an hour and a half away from where I live.

I just got off the phone with a "tracing specialist" and they are going to do a search of the warehouse and get it shipped out as soon as possible. They don't know why it wasn't scanned since it is a high-value shipment from Dell.

Best case scenario: I get it tuesday.

    Lame!

Nice benchmarks, that rocks. I'm even more excited to get my system now!

I got my m15x with 5850 today and I have a big problem with installing the driver...... I cannot install any driver!!! the original driver was out of date, then I tried to install 10.4, it gave me an warning and instalation failed. Then I thought might be the confliction problem, so I uninstalled the original driver and then tried to install 10.4, still warning and failed. Then I tried to install 10.3, same thing, failed! now the system cannot even detect my 5850, my resulution is now 1400 X 1050 at maximum, really sucks!
The error log was like this:

    Existing packagesATI Catalyst Install Manager
    Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable

    Packages for install
ATI Catalyst Install ManagerFinal Status: Success
    Version of Item: 3.0.765.0
    Size: 20 Mbytes

    Other detected devices

    Error messages

Anybody can help??? I will really appreciate!!

So I fixed the driver problem by doing this:

    10.4 install fine too.

    1) download driver 10.4
    2) when extracting the files to install , there will be a path it will extract to. Copy the path before it extract.
    3) after it extract the files, it will prompt to install, at this point cancel the install.
    4) go Start, right click Computer, Click Propertities, Click Device Manager, Click Display adaptor, when you see VGA Graphic , Right click Update Driver, then click Browse my computer for driver software , this is where you right click and paste the path and hit the next button. It should install and display ATI HD 5800. I would advise you to restart the computer after that.

    =============================================

although my 10.4 right now is driver only (no CCC control panel), but I got average scores on 3dmark06 and vantage, my spec is i7 720, ati HD 5850, 4gb ram, see pictures below:

    vantage: P7773

I just purchased my m15x for a great price too. I got a grand total of just over $1600 shipped with i7-720QM, 4GB 1066MHz, 1080p WLED, ATI HD 5850, 500GB 7200 rpm hd. If you want to know what I did read the link http://forum.notebookreview.com/5831922-post1.html if the link does not work it is posted earlier in this thread. Ordering by phone really works. Thanks a lot fellas I have learned a lot from you guys I cannot wait to unleash the m15x beast
