Just an update on my order. Original Deilvery date was December 2nd, after ordering on October 20. An email to Customer Service got this changed to November 10. My case was Lunar Shadow, and I'm in Southern Australia. PC was delivered as promised on the 10th of November.
-
I have been one of the luckier ones as well as mine was shipped today. Ordered on 11/13/10, Case is black.
Original EDD: 12/16/10
Updated EDD: 11/20/10
So roughly just 7 days from start to finish. -
It really seem's those that are unlucky are wanted the ever elusive and seeming like ever popular Lunar Shadow. Think about this though, Alienware is proably putting in a bunch of orders for Lunar's to be manufactured soon the other two will take a hit.
But back on topic. I'm still sitting at 12/15/10 with my Nebula Red. Maybe I'll get it AFTER the 9 day build period since I do have over night shipping. -
my EDD states 22 November but i got a call today from the local carrier and he said he will deliver the notebook to me tomorrow morning i checked the order status, it still says "Ship from Factory".
Well i guess they didn't update it on the website, hopefully -
Order Date: 17/11/2010 (originally 13/11/2010 cancelled and changed)
Estimated Delivery Date:03/12/2010
Just checked and my 'work in progress' changed to 'in production'. I'm not completely sure how significant this is but it changed a lot quicker than expected. I imagine 'work in progress' covers the admin side of things, written preparation and availability ect. Production speaks for itself. Production probably takes a week of working days if the specified components are in surplus but I don't know how rigorous their quality control checks are. I wouldn't be surprised to see it at my doorstep by monday 29th if everything runs smoothly. By the way I picked the red casing. -
Just registered. My M15x order date was 11th November 2010, with an initial delivery date of 1st December 2010.
Got the email yesterday that the new delivery date is 22nd November 2010 (ie this Monday). Woo.
But... the UPS tracker has me worried a little. It appears to have gone from China to Kyrgyzstan , to Germany and back to Kyrgyzstan again. It mentioned an "event" of some kind that might affect delivery date, but this has now gone back to "transit". I'm hoping it's just a screw-up caused by time differences or something, I really don't want it to be getting further away from me... -
Just got off the phone with the supervisor's, supervisor. My order was delayed again (will be over a month delayed). I was told that it was because of the Lunar Shadow color and the CPU (i7-840QM). They could not give me a new EDD yet all they can do is tell me that a new EDD will be provided on Monday.
They cannot change an order (so don't even try to ask). All they can do is cancel an order, then YOU have to reorder it and it starts all over. I suppose a good tactic would have been to order one black and one lunar shadow color, then when one is about to be shipped I can cancel the other order.
There was talk of "compensation" for my time... has anyone ever been compensated for their nightmare delay (what was it)? I am trying to figure out if all of this is worth the wait. I usually have good purchase experiences with Dell. -
i just got mine delivered. Ordered originally on 11 Nov, delivered today on 20 Nov, thats 9 days. no dead pixels, everything is the way it should be good experience for me, thumbs up
-
res- what color.. and btw ...please post on the 460m thread..tell us how it works..if it throttles hardcore if it its a decent card!
-
cosmic black. GTX 460m works great...no heating issues, it runs cool even underload (when i play SC2 on max settings - 1920x1080 native resolution + all set on ultra. In a 4v4 game i get 45 avg FPS (used fraps+benchmark)
-
Well I might be screwed now. I just was playing with the build your own again, and saw that cosmic black is now down to 0 delay, lunar shadow is 10days delay, and nebula red is at 19 days. I really hope this doesn't mean my previous order will be delayed

Runs like a champ. Very pretty and no bad pixels. -
my Windows boots in 15-20 seconds, shuts down in 5 seconds. roughly -
Yes, that's what I have planned. It's considerably cheaper to buy my own, and I'll be keeping my eyes out for black Friday deals.
-
I now have had 2 emails stating delays. I ordered on Oct. 24. Lunar Shadow, with i7 740QM, and 1600x900 screen. It has been "in production" since the first week.
When I called (Dell) to after receiving the first delay email, they would only tell me that they are out of stock on a component, but couldn't tell me which one. They initially set the new EDD out by a month, but said don't worry, it will likely be less than a week. A week rolls by, and I get another delay email. Now i see there is no EDD against my order - "information temporarily unavailable".
I am very close to canceling, on principle. They know they have stock problems, but will not say so, and mislead us to believing EDD's they can't possibly meet. Oh - and i was told 2 weeks ago that I have been given priority!! -
Mine has been updated. It is being delivered tomorrow :-D so orderd 11/15/10 and its being deliverd 11/23/10
-
Ordered on 11/18/2010, EDD 12/14/2010....

my order has been updated ordered 11/17/10 first EDD 12/7/10 Updated EDD 11/24/10. Shipped 11/22/10 12:18am pretty fast
-
My original EDD was 12/15/10..i had orderd it on 11/15/10...so the wait time wasn't that bad lol -
I was called and told that my laptop would be shipped out this week. Tomorrow will be 1 month since I ordered it. My Order Status has not changed, so it will probably be a few days. I am trying hard to hang on.
-
what's your latest EDD? Mine is still showing 11/24 (tomorrow) so it would have to ship out today if it's going to get here by tomorrow.. if not, then I'll expect it friday since i don't think the shipping places (fedex/ups) work on thanksgiving, but i could be wrong....
-
strange.. they just called me today and told me it was delayed AGAIN and it wouldn't ship out this week..... we're seeing conflicting info.. now they've told me i'm not going to get it until december 22nd?? That would be *2* months from date of order.. My delayed twice EDD was supposed to be tomorrow. I'm one of those lunar shadow victims.
Peaceofmind i really hope they told you the truth because you ordered just a day or two before me.. they're telling me another month before I get mine.. i just don't know how to trust them anymore. If I don't get my laptop in the next week I'm cancelling and going elsewhere with my money. -
my color is cosmic black, my shipping method is 5-7 day business days and its coming to me in 2 days lol. probably because i live in ohio and its coming from chicago
-
So i ended up cancelling my order and got an amazing deal for an m15x off of the outlet that ended up being better than the one I ordered. Cosmic black this time because I couldn't even stand to look at lunar shadow since it's caused me enough grief. I should get my laptop on or before Monday.
-
My laptop just got shipped today. Should get it in one day, but with Thanksgiving tomorrow, it should get here Saturday.
-
I got my refurb'd one today after I cancelled on Tuesday and reordered that day. I was able to get it for about 600 dollars less and i actually got a ram upgrade (from 4gb to 8gb) and a blu ray player upgrade as well. If you're waiting on a lunar shadow and you happen to see a good deal on the outlet, get it... it took them one day from order to ship it and with the holiday it only took 2 days to ship, so ordered tuesday, shipped wednesday, got it today. Same specs as the other one I ordered, 5850, 500gb hard drive, FHD 1080p screen, i7-740qm, but with 8gb and a blu ray.. The only difference is I settled for cosmic black and refurbished, so no pretty alienware box and I don't have my name carved on the tag, but whatever.. i finally have a laptop woohoo!
-
Ordered on 11/18/2010, EDD 12/14/2010....Got a mail from dell 26th nov sayin it wud be delivered on 30th nov...........cant wait to lay my hands on her!!

Whew! I just got my laptop after 34 days which doesn't seem to be the norm here. Even at the end I had to track down the FedEx guy and meet him at a gas station to get it too (or it would have been +2 days). This was certainly a bad experience with getting this laptop which seemed to originate with the manufacture of some of the equipment. Most of my experiences with Dell are usually quite pleasant. I did get free overnight shipping thrown in for free.
The laptop is actually quite big. But VERY awesome! Great packaging. -
My delivery date is the 3rd of December. That is this Friday. Considering my laptop is still 'in production' it would be an accurate assessment to conclude that Dell will not forfill their target date they gave me. Shipping from China alone I suspect will take 5 working days or a week of normal time. Apparently the hold up is due to low base units so they haven't even started to assemble my customized system yet if that is the case.
I haven't had another date through yet but even if they get the base units in tomorrow I will be waiting for another two weeks for it to be built, pass quality control and then be shipped and be with me. Don't get me wrong, I am patient. I expected to be delayed but I'm not happy with being told by an advisor last Tuesday that my system would be built by Friday 26th. Friday the 10th December is more realistic!
By the sounds of things it will be another 3 working days before they even get the stock in that they require then they can stop playing Mindsweep or whatever they do and get on with working. -
So I checked my status today and my delivery date has jumped from the 3rd of December to the 30th of December with no warning. I don't mind waiting a little but Dell should be ashamed of themselves for having such poor communications when making customers wait for weeks on end. I shouldn't have to log in on their site to know that especially for a Christmas present I ordered in mid October! Can't they send notifications or something, I mean come on 4 ing extra weeks for a laptop and no notification! Of course I am annoyed about waiting so long but I would do it, but what Dell is telling me just doesn't add up. They told me that the laptop will have been assembled last Friday now it will be in my hands on dec 30th.
Needless to say I could very well cancel and it's a shame because I was looking forward to getting my alienware laptop and the community is great here but I may not be apart of that now. I emailed my rep angrily.
John,
I just checked my estimated delivery time, it has now gone from the 3rd of December to the 30th of December. That is a considerable increase bordering insane for a computer system that I was told would be assembled no problem last Friday. When you customize a car you don’t even wait that long!
I didn't even get an email warning me of this change. 4 weeks an no notification!
If I had any idea that I would have to wait til AFTER Christmas for a christmas present when originally ordering in mid October I wouldn't have bothered ordering to be brutally honest! I am patient but such an extreme change with no prior warning from Dell after being told that my laptop is nearly built is completely unacceptable.
I can wait a week or two with good communications no problem, but an extra 4 weeks building time for a base unit that you claim to be delivered within the week? Unacceptable.
While Alienware is desired because of my needs those macbooks are really starting to look sweet. I am very tempted to cancel and place an order on a less expensive system that will arrive a lot quicker with one of your competitors. While I completely understand that you are just a customer services rep and have no influence on the building of these systems I do need to let my frustrations known.
regards,
Stephen -
Well, I was a late October order (lunar shadow) and after two delays and Alienware not being able to even give me a EDD, I cancelled. Ordered a Clevo from Eurocom last week (8690 with a 470m) and it arrives today. Goodbye Alienware!
-
Unlucky with the lunar shadow case.
I had a relative in the U.S ordered mine (cosmic black) on 11/11, given EDD was 15/12 but ended up in shipment process a week later. Received on 19/11. -
-
Regardless, I'm pretty stoked about the 470m...some of the Clevo/Sager benchmarks look really good. I might have stuck around with Dell if they were offering the 470.
Also, I almost ordered the Alienware in black...if I had, it probably would be sitting here already...ah, what might have been... -
Are there any Dell employees on here that have access to individual Alienware build status's and internal sla's for each of the stages at the moment? Or even what components are causing delays at the moment if any?
Do Dell generally get well stocked up prior to christmas? -
I gave Dell a week extra before cancelling. I told them this. I checked my status today and it has switched to shipped. I was going to cancel my order altogether tomorrow without any satisfactory updates from Dell. I'm shocked. I cannot fathom the bipolar switch in date, this is actually not too far from my original shipment date. Originally I was due to laptop on the 3rd of December then it was changed to the 30th. Now out of the blue my laptop appears to be crossing the world to me.
I think possibly my moaning and threatening to cancel paid off. Or maybe Dell just have no organisation or clue to what they have in stock. Or Both. Probably both. Even when companies claim they have 'non in stock' I beg to differ, there are always one or two floating about. To those that are waiting in disbelief with delay after delay I just say do not be silent on it. Email, ring, write, and threaten to cancel at all of the Dell employees and departments you possibly can. Very rarely do I get so worked up by postponments or at lousy companies in general so usually I get no where. This time it worked.... -
I'm glad things worked out for you, I would have taken the same actions!
-
Forgot to add. Shipping to the UK from China took 3 days which was very quick. Overall I'm very impressed with the system and the build. The laptop is very heavy when comparing it to my partners macbook pro but for the performance increase it is justified. I've been playing Mass Effect 2 the graphics are stunning.
-
I placed my order for the M15x on 12/14/2010 and My EDD is 1/3/2010 But on the flip side, my order is in Delivery Preparation today (12/17/2010) I am waiting ever so patiently, tried to upgrade to free next day air shipping but they said it was too late. Hopefully I will be able to receive it before Christmas
It's is a gift to myself!! -
my order upgraded from 5-7 days to overnight for free automatically. They might do the same because of the holidays.
-
That would be terrific!
-
@ latinracer, how good or how bad is the 1520 WiFi?
Also, are you returning your M15x?
My purchase is "In Production" since 12/27... I'm eating my pants off! -
Glad to say I can join the ranks of Alienware owners. I've been waiting for an awesome deal on any laptop and I find the best deal from Alienware of all companies.

-
Another great outlet deal! Enjoy the new system.
-
ordered an M11X 2 days ago...now i have to wait and watch it sit "In Production" for 2 weeks or whatever...
2/3 EDD...can't wait! -
I'm kind've annoyed - I ordered my M15x yesterday morning and online it had an EDD of 2/14, but having placed the order on the phone (to get some discounts, etc) they gave me an EDD of 2/22. That's over 3 weeks to get a laptop, seems a tad much lol. I'm really hoping it's delivered before the end of the month. -
So I got a call from my contact in the Dell Executive offices today (why they're working on a Sunday, let alone a Super Bowl Sunday I don't know) letting me know my laptop should ship in the next day or two. That's pretty exciting considering I just placed my order Wednesday.
-
I have my m15x in delivery preparation since 2/8/11 how long will it take to be shipped? thanks! I have NBD by the way, this is my 2nd order of m15x, the 1st one wasnt a good experience since shipping got delayed because i chose lunar shadow color, i canceled it and ordered the cosmic black instead.
