What everyone else is saying. Basically remove those screws (inner or outer two I did both), flip the laptop back over and you should very carefully pry the back edge at each corner up to start (I used my fingers), once it starts to pop out carefully lifting the rest will allow them to pop out as well. Each back vent has two screws on the top and one on the bottom. Unscrew and pull out towards the back to remove. :)

Middle, or Sensor 1, is hot GDDR5 VRAM. It is normal for this type of memory to get quite warm.

Sensor 0 (first one) is the GPU.

ATM I cannot remember what Sensor 2 (last one) is. lol

0 and 2 are fine but the middle one is way too hot, maybe i should move the pads over abit more.

I just read that the new macbook i7 systems are reaching 100C!

Now that is insane and makes me feel pretty good about my M15x's cooling. I know that the systems are very different, but I just can't stand hot laptops and am glad that the cooling in the AW is top-notch.

Who needs stoves when you can make mac n cheese with a notebook. How did Apple let something like this get released? Those temps are definitely hot enough to melt the plastic that holds the laptop together

That's nothing new, the older MBPs I've used were already in the upper nineties.

Are you all sure about which sensor in AMD GPU Clock Tool represents the core temp? Note that TSS 2 in Clock Tool equates to GPU Core Temp in Hardware Monitor. And it always does.

maybe everyone is too excited about temps and frames and vantage scores...or maybe i missed it and its lurking somehwere in the pages of this thread...but what im curious about is...

    DO the M15x i7 720, 820,920 Throttle with the 5870m?????????

Everyone has always said it was a powermizer issue with the bios+the gtx260m..... so can someone confirm this by testing and hopefully not experiencing any throttling with the 5870m? I know ATI has less annoying overheating techonology that Nvidia ( powermizer is too sensitive) so throttling should be gone!!

So can someone test for gpu+cpu throttling?? THANKS :)

Oh and by the way.. my 5870 is on the WAY :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D can't wait to join the Ever-growing community :p .. so while i wait... im flashing my 260m to 1v and pushing it to its limits :p hehehe

Jstarnino no throttle issues here (though I can't confirm real time clock data as gpu-z isn't update for the mobile 5870 yet). I've not seen any slow down or stuttering in any games as a result of any kind of throttling :).

Just wanted to add a screencap from playing bad company 2 a hour and thirty minutes (single player, maxed out completely). Clocks are cranked down back in windows to bring temps down.

Looking back at both programs makes sense TSS0 circuit board, TSS1 gddr5, and TSS2 gpu core (along with hw monitor picking up that same gpu sensor)

Seems most consistent. Nice temps btw.

    Mark –

Found a little geek trick to automate the downclocking process at bootup. Create a shortcut to Clock Tool, then right click, select Properties and add the following to the command line contained in the Target box: “-eng=250” “-mem=300” (with quotation marks). Then drag the shortcut (as modified) into the Startup Folder. At boot, Clock Tool starts up, resets the clocks and exits. Happens so fast you can barely see it. Opening Clock Tool and clicking Restore Default Clocks takes you right back to 700/1000 or whatever other values you have set in the vbios.

How's it look in the bios? Do you know for a fact you have the A05 bios? What driver did you try?

Without A05 the laptop wouldnt probably even boot with a display.

You have to install that card manually. Did you do Device Manager ->Right click on VGA card -> update driver -> select the driver location?

The driver location is most likely C:\ATI\Support\10-3_monility...\Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF

Its a warning, not an error message and I got that too. You can install the driver anyways as mentioned in my previous post

71c idle .. I haven't done anything yet..I'll try some benchmarking tonight. Still waiting on my Beast m15x to arrive on wednesday.

I just recently got the item, how about hooking me up for a 14 day low price guarantee?

Install ATi 10.3 preview per babyhemi, and after install, manually locate the extract folder and update driver per wattos.

Lap the heatsink so there is less of a need for thermal paste.

The regular price is $399.00 + Shipping Charges for the card only

The regular price is $439.00 + Shipping Charges for the kit that includes the heatsink for the Clevo W870CU.

Again, after this stock is gone the price will go up to at least the prices you see above...

man be happy with the price you bought...you paid for it already. This isn't Big Box Retailer. No offense to anyone in particular - just a general observation.

Take it up with the seller personally...not on public forum post.

A heads up to anyone purchasing a 5870m in the UK , from the US. Mine got hit with a 60 pound VAT and handling charge by customs and parcel force, paid it off and should be getting delivered tomorrow. Looking forward to getting it into my m15x and seeing what it can do :) .
