my nvidia driver is the 260.99 version
my realtek audio driver is the one from dell site 6.0.1.6083 , A02
i tried getting a newer one from the realtek site but had awful trouble getting it to download, i think the site is broke or something so i stuck with dells one
turn off SRS in the audio manager & switch the sample rate to 44100Khz....
I also use gamesbooster
use amero's tweaks on single player config too, campaign and Zombies run way smoother with them...
hope this helps -
The issue I have then is that if I close the lid or if it goes to sleep, it doesn't come back on - just a black screen.
I've disabled SRS in Realtek HD manager and set my sound to 16 bit 44100 KHz CD quality and made sure it matched in the config_mp.cfg file.
Currently running the dual mode graphics with the 8.17.11.9772 GT 335M driver from Dell's site and the latest Realtek HD Audio driver from Realtek's site (6.0.1.6278)
Performance in multiplayer is unplayable - way too choppy and laggy.
Single player - is pretty laggy too.
MW2 seems to be working much better. -
i dont seem to have that problem with the black screen.. have you tried reinstalling the nvidia driver? they have just released a new driver on the 18th january- version - 266.58
im gonna try it tonight and see how it goes. i'll post any performance differences -
Based on the new patch (released today: Jan 21) it runs wonderfully. I just got it and did a dry run on Nuketown. Also recorded 5min of gameplay. Is this a suitable standard of gameplay? OC'd CPU, No GPU OC.

i downloaded every update on steam.. used every tweak what was shown on notebookreview.com .. installed the new gt driver for m11x r1 and also turned of srs in realtek and still i only get standard 20 fps...
whats wrong about that?? -
Hey Core2Duo Gamer...I'm the guy who told u about the patch on youtube....I have a couple of questions for you....did u buy the game on steam? did u use the performace guide offer in this post? and lastly are u using the last nvidia driver?...cuz I was waiting for a fix in this game...
thanks

I'm not Core2Gamer but I am using the drivers from this thread + the optimization tweaks that someone posted + I have the new patch.
It run's a lot smoother now then before.
EDIT: And I am using Steam Black Ops. -
which driver and where can i find the patch? -
the patch seems to have helped mine a little too. I'll do some more thorough testing

So have the performance issues been resolved yet for the M11X R2?
I've been waiting to buy this forever. -
-
where can i download the new patch???
-
lol steam automatically downloads the patch.
-
It's somewhat playable now.
I had major issues while connected to my 24" HDMI monitor, running native resolution, but ha dextended display running instead of just the LCD monitor.
here's an example. This is multiplayer, with a Famas, and when I'm firing, I'm holding the mouse button down, so this is full auto!
Horrible audio stutter M11x - Xfire Video -
This is my issue with COD balck op. I get 5-10 minute of play at 60 fps with everything down and all of sudden, I am down to 18 fps for ever. Always the same pattern.
-
Your computer is throttling maybe because of high temperature. Are you using a cooler? Or by any chance lifting the back of the computer from the desk.
Try using a temperature monitoring program. -
check out the numerous threads on Throttle stop, or heat......raise the back, get a cooler, etc. -
Thanks for throttling thing I will look into it, but I was indeed always lifting the back for better air circulation
-
-
So does it run better on the R1, with the SP stuttering audio patch/fix? Like MW2? Because I'm can't benchmark/test the game, because I left my M11X R1 at my friends house
-
I cant even get the game to start at all. If i choose multiplayer / zombie mode / campaign. When i am at the MENU it works, but when it starts to load a game mode it just freezes. What should i do?

Any possible danger for destroying components when using powermizer? -
I have no idea how ppl that use r1 call this silky smooth. The game runs at 50-70 fps in corridors, when ever I shoot my gun at a person and there's ppl running in the background, the frames drop to 20s and sometimes teens.
Don't get me started on Nuketown. which runs teens to 20s on avg.
I have used every tweak possible, I have my cpu overclocked, I even used the Throttlestop program to make sure my CPu is always running 100% just in case. I've also set my Nvidia options to Performance and no power saving.
I turned off Antivirus, I've turned on gamebooster, I've also turned off my themes, set windows to performance. My cpu idles at literally 1%, and my ram is around 34% full on idle. I also turned off motion blur, put EVERY1 of my settings to lowest. Sound is lowest...
The game is unplayable. It stutters, especially when shooting and has lousy frame rates at awkward places. Also when starting a game and your viewin the map, the frames avg to 15 fps....lets not get started when I alt tab out and back in the frames stay at 3 fps for 10 seconds.
Sorry to say this, any R1 person that says silky smooth or even smooth has either been console games for too long and has gotten use to it, they are not picky or just can't see it.
Edit:
I also wanted to add that my m11x plays Crysis medium -high settings at around 30-40 fps (obviously teens with large areas and explosions), so i'll just say that Treyarch hasn't learnt anything, and has 5 yr old programmers working for them.
MW 2 looks 10x's better (even mw 1) and runs 10x's better.
Anyways any help will be greatly appreciated! -
I'm still experiencing major audio lag when firing.
I haven't really played campaign - but in multiplayer it's unplayable.
Incidentally a private match was playable. -

@Liquid - your cpu should never idle above 0 unless you are moving the mouse around. If you are idling at 1 percent, you have not optimized enough.
StevenX -
Well 1% is still no excuse for black ops to perform like this lol

stevenxowens792 Notebook Virtuoso
@Liquid and all - Remember.. to get max performance during gameplay, you MUST DISABLE ALL VIRUS SCANNING. Completely disable it. Meaning, set the software to disabled, set the service to disabled. I remember also disabling the windows firewall. Meaning setting the firewall to OFF setting the service to Disabled. (I would turn these all back on when casual interweb surfing). Your cpu usage needs to be zero when idle. Everything that does not need run should be turned off and disabled. All alienware CC should be disabled and the service should be DISABLED or stopped.
I post these things because as time moves on we have some folks cycle out of the forums and new folks cycle in. The goals are still the same. Minimum cpu utilization, maximum frame rates during gaming.
Every FRAME counts. Take every frame prisoner.

During gaming only... If you want to surf just re-enable them again. None of these machines are powerful enough to heavy game and surf at the same time. So their is really no need to try. (Not unless you want stuttering and frame rate drops).

I have come to the conclusion that Treyarch do not care about PC gamers. They gave us the WORST port ever. I looked in the CFG. Eventually Black Ops thinks we all have 1024 MB RAM. PS3 port fail.
-
This isn't about port AlienOnions, its just lousy engine optimizations. The game was clearly not just a regular port.
Although i do need to say, the fact that Treyarch has been there for activision all this time to help the series keep going in the year off from IW, they still didn't get chosen as primary company after IW's disband. Talk about slap in the face...although after seeing that Treyarch can take a IW optimized engine and make it look worse and run worse is funny....considering the console version of Mw 2 (other than Texture size) can be considered better graphics if compared at the same resolution in my opinion
One thing I can give to Treyarch is they know what colors are. -
-
Also stevenxowens792, I can't really see why enabling r_multigpu will help us M11X gamers, because we don't have SLi
-
stevenxowens792 Notebook Virtuoso
@alienonions- you are disabling the sli support, not enabling it in the config file. According to the nvidia config whether you set multithreading to 0 or 1 doesn't make a difference. Good Luck, StevenX

Its just for show I'm assuming -
Anyways, I heard on a Steam forum thread that the game favors Quad Cores. But all other posts on that forum said its the games fault. I did A LOT of benchmarking, and testing. Tuning down your Graphic Settings doesn't make the littlest FPS change. Turning off Shadows was the most effective, as it gets 2-4 FPS+. Resolution (I think thats how you spell it) changing had a weird FPS effect. Giving me almost 13-53 FPS. Tuning the Res down fully like 800X600 gave me massive fps spikes, but a stabler FPS. I got 29-36 FPS with the res on lowest. Textures don't do anything. No point of turning them fully down. Eventually bullet holes make the slightest of difference. Giving me accurately 0.6-2.9 FPS+. Anti-Aliasing makes a very little performance drop-boost. A patch gave you 16x on Multiplayer. That slightly kills performance obviously. 6-34 FPS-. Sorry for the wall of text, might make this into a thread. Theres much more stuff that changes the FPS, but that would probably fill up a whole page. Again I typed this on my mobile, so my fingers are saw. Sorry for any spelling mistakes or grammar mistakes -
Just to update this thread, a new patch for Black Ops is up. It has additional improvements and Shader warming compatibility for the upcoming nVidia driver and unlocked zombie modes. I haven't tested these out, because Steam likes re-downloading things *FACEPALM*.
-
Quick yes or no question, is it now playable with the patch, like no more stuttering?
-
I couldn't tell you, the update broke the server browser for me so i can't play anything on multiplayer. No one seems to be able to help me fix it either.
-
I gave my R1 to my brother and he doesn't know the first thing about optimization and the R1 can handle it just fine at about 30-35 frames. No AA, High Settings, Shadows and Shadow Warming on. 1360x768 res.

After all this time and with all the issues with the console versions, I doubt that Treyarch will get round to optimizing the game for PC anytime soon. PC users sure got TREYARCHED!

Now I'm getting the odd drop to 19-25 fps. Laptop is nice and cool, doesn't appear to be throttling.
The new patch also capped the fps in the config file and done some "other stuff" according to the steam forums, so I even deleted (after I backed up my old config) and got steam to re download it. Haven't changed or even properly examine the config file yet but the basic config has the same result.
I'll do some experiments in an hours time.
Somethings changed, that's for sure. -

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but Treyarch released a new patch for Black Ops Multiplayer recently. The patch is a whopping 8GB! However, in the Steam News section, they're not specifying what's in the patch. Any ideas?
