IT WORKS AMAZINGLY!!!!
WOOO!
Im playing on extra settings. No shadows. no AA. No Afiltering. Automatic Filtering. Max resolution. (1080p on my monitor) 35-45fps
**Ill be uploading a youtube video ASAP on how it works**
-
I installed the new update and the performance didn´t change at all, not even a bit! I´m getting about 15/20 FPS.
I´m very disapointed!
Alienware M11x R1 - C2D SU7300 - 4GB RAM - HD 250GB 7200 rpm -
It's running the same for me on my m11x r1. Still crazy lag spikes on native resolution.
-
-
What is shader warming?
-
-
^^ ive been playing 35-45 + before this update...
-
You have the R2
this is the R1 -
edit: and my GPU is OC'd a bit. Not too much though. -
edit: what software do you use to overclock? -
This new patch doesn't do much in terms of regular random lag spikes, but it does improve the killcam lag and improves lag spikes due to new parts of the map not being pre-loaded. My FPS is much more stable now.

I tried it with the R2 and it didn't make any difference. I now get 30-60 fps, but it's still laggy because it usually spikes from 50 down to 30 fps. Frames are always skipped.
It'll be months before Treyarch releases another patch, if any. Bottom line is that Black Ops is a bad console port. :| -
I saw major improvements with the latest patch!
I can play on graphics on high, automatic filtering, no afiltering, no aa, shadows and bullets on, sync frames off, full fov, on native resolution with NO hitches WHATSOEVER. -
-
i noticed im topping out closer to 90 fps now in doors...
also staying above 40 90% of the time...used to be more 30-60 range -
new patch seems to have worked some voodoo on my comp, working fine now, native res, everything on high, shadows, no bullets, no AA
-
Apparently the new 15/12/2010 Patch has worked wonders for PC gamers. Now I may be able to buy the game knowing that I could play it.

Okay... So I gotta ask, did you guys who got good results turn on the Shader Warming option? Did you guys tweak the config? Because without modifications, I'm not getting anything great.
-
even with the patch, the game is still too unstable (stuttering and random fps spikes) for me to own everyone as i desire
-
Graphics Settings:
http://i55.tinypic.com/whljj4.jpg
switch to those settings, and don't bother making everything low/turning off AA etc., you won't get better fps (don't ask why, you just won't, I guess the game is broken in that way lol)
Tweak Commands:
r_multigpu 0
r_dof_enable 0
r_multithreaded_device 1
snd_losOcclusion 0
cl_maxpackets 63
cl_packetdup 2
com_maxfps 125
snaps 30
my friend gave me those tweaks and man, it has improved my game drastically, getting stable 40-50 fps and it just feels way smoother (was getting 20-30 before)
I'm on R1 with CPU at 1.7Ghz and 4GB RAM
try it, and let me know your results
cheers -
I just tried these settings & low & behold getting 35 - 45 FPS pretty much constantly! If u lower the AA your FPS seems to go down .. very strange!
I am using the following:
M11x R1 Pentium SU4100 @ 1.73GHz | 2GB Dual Channel DDR3 | 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 335M
Running Gamesbooster too.
Cheers -
@ amero + 1
Will definitely try tonight.
My current config is great, but I hope these simple tweaks will even make it better. -

New patch helped a bit. I did the usual config tweaks and still run black ops exe on low. Nuketown, which is by far the most demanding had no glitches 2 matches in a row.
Maybe this patch really does help.
M11x folks, remember to copy, save and then delete the config files, then patch, then tweak. Good Luck, StevenX -

Again my GPU is NOT overclocked.
My CPU, however, is overclocked via the BIOs option.
This is the R1, Core 2 Duo. -
So I've patched up BlackOps and I'm getting quite a big problem. Sometimes the game is running quite smoothly but then sometimes I get big spikes of lag. Not slow FPS but more like millisecond freezes. It happens every few seconds for a few minutes or so then it runs smoothly again. Anyone know if it could be BlackOps itself, my settings (all automatic, no AA, and no vertical sync), or maybe background processes which could get in the way? I tried lowering my settings to minimum and it still happens..
-
Hello, everyone,
I was having issues with Black Ops launching with a black screen and minimizing to the task bar. I could not get the game to launch unless I changed my resolution to 800 x 600., which to me is unacceptable.
Whenever I set the resolution to higher than 800 x 600 while in windowed mode, the game worked fine. ONLY after changing to full screen in the menu settings does it shrink to the task bar and not open. Some folks have reported issues with the black screen being linked to AA, but this was not the case for me. Instead, the issue is related to the aspect ratio settings.
I do believe I have found a solution that works, however, so I thought I would share as this appears to be a common issue for M11x + Black Ops owners.
My system:
M11x R2
- Win 7 Home Premium 64
- i7 CPU (no overclocking)
- 4 GB RAM
- 500 GB HD
- 260.99 NVidia drivers (downloaded from NVidia, no modding)
What I did to (apparently) fix my problem:
- Force Black Ops to utilize the 335m in the NVidia control panel.
- Open up the Black Ops config file found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\call of duty black ops\players
- Find " "seta r_fullscreen "1" " and change it to " seta r_fullscreen "0" "
- Launch the game (Should open in a windowed mode, 800 x 600)
- Change the resolution to 1366 x 768 AND set the aspect ratio to 16:9. DO NOT leave it on "auto" as it will just minimize to the task bar and not work.
- Adjust your graphics settings to your liking.
For whatever reason, leaving the aspect ratio option to "auto" makes the game minimize to the task bar. Annoying, but so far doing the steps above has fixed it for me. If anyone else out there is is suffering the same problems, hopefully this will fix it for them as well.
Good luck!
EDIT: I should specify that this only seems to "fix" my SP campaign version of the game. However, the same "fix" applies to MP by editing the config_mp.cfg file in the same way. -
Ran for some time last night and the lag issue seems noticeably better, running fraps I sat in the mid 40's with highs of 61 and lows of 30's - running R1 OC'ed in bios.
-
I saddly still experience some lag issues. In a 18 players nuketown game, I can barely keep my fps over 30. Most of the time it's in the mid 20's, if not in the 10's. I've tried amero's tweaks and all.
I'm running a M11xR1 and I have overclocked in BIOS.
I don't understand why it lags like that for me. DeeVu is running the same setup as mine and he can play BlackOps x100 smoother. He wrote down his graphic settings and the tweaks he has done and none of them worked for me. -
Just got a new M11x R1 during the December 12 days of deals at Dell.
Intel U7300 @ 1596 MHz
4Gb RAM
GT 335M
I'm experiencing stuttering/lag in multiplayer only.
It works fine in Combat training.
The issue almost seems to be more audio related than video. I can move just fine but can't shoot without it lagging.
The game is almost unplayable - every time I go to pull the trigger it just starts getting really choppy. And when I look at kill cams (because I die frequently when this happens) it's like I'm standing there and not firing.
I have a gaming desktop (i5-750 OC'd, 8 GB 1600 MHz RAM, Crossfired HD 5770s) and that is flawless with Black ops. 90 FPS and my average since I started playing the game is 1.6:1 K/D ratio.
I got the M11x so I can game when I'm stuck in a hotel while working out of town which will be a frequent occurrence this year.
I've tried the config_mp.cfg changes and recommended settings.
For some reason I can't update the NVIDIA drivers from NVidia's site. I've downloaded them, and they install with no errors, then if I reboot I get max resolution of 800x600.
The driver on Dell's site installs fine.
Some have mentioned selecting the GT 335M to use in game. How do you choose which GPU to use?
Anyone have links to driver download sites for the recommended driver versions? -
What settings on campaign mode?
-
I got my game working smoothly with no lag! My first MP TDM game with the corrected settings yielded 16:4 K/D (still using the 11" laptop screen).
I'm still squinting trying to see everything so I'm looking forward to plugging in my 1080p 24" monitor when I get back home to test some more.
The changes I made:
Reverted back to NVidia Driver from Dell's site (version 8.17.11.9772)
Upgraded Realtek ALC665 Driver to 6.0.1.6240
Changed Default Setting in Realtek HD Audio manager to 16 bit 44100Hz
Unchecked Enable SRS on SRS tab in REaltek HD Audio Manager
I'm going to tweak the graphics settings now to see what combination causes a performance drop.
Thanks notebookreview for having the answers - I just didn't put it all together! -
For some reason when I open MP or SP I get a black screen and it minimizes after a few seconds. It will not load to the menu at all.
I just bought it today. Never played it on my m11x r1 yet.
EDIT: I fixed it. Apparently if your M11x is on the max screen res it won't register for some reason. I lowered it to 1080? and then changed the game resolution to 1336 then switched my res back to 1336. Now its fine.
I just need for them to fix the game -____- -
Sorry, I know that there is a black ops thread. I already posted in there but I wanted to post my own topic just in case people who aren't interested in that topic can help me out.
I waited to buy Black Ops for PC since I read that there were numerous problems (and still are some, however it is not as bad as before).
I just finished installing Sinple/Multiplayer but when I try to open either of them all I get is a black screen and it minimizes the screen after a few seconds. It won't even load to the menu.
Does anyone know what is going on?
my specs are : M11x R1, 1.7 OC, 4 gb RAM -

Try re-installing.
-
Are you using discrete or integrated graphics? fn+f6 to switch
-
I am using the Nvidia graphics. I already re-installed it a few times to no avail.
-
Do you still have sound? Also if you read the thread, I seem to remember that the was a problem with the AA and that to solve it, you had to run BO in safe mode and turn it off. Please do check the thread, I know it's long but it contains most of the problems. If that still fails, I had a problem with games auto-minimizing and it is a pain, apparently, one solution is changing the theme settings on Skype to Windows.
-
Try Ctrl/Alt/Delete to force shutdown of the game, then try restarting the
game again. Hopefully it will ask you if you want to start in safe mode, and
click yes. It got me to the main game menu where I was able to change the
resolution to the M11X's native res. This happened after multiple restarts so
don't give up.
I had a b***h of a time try to get the R2 to start in safe mode, so I was
lucky to stumble upon this workaround.
EDIT: Oops, I didn't see your edit in your previous post. Never mind! -
I got home, had shut down my laptop and now I can't seem to get more than 20-30 fps again.
When I plug in my 24" HDMI 1080p monitor I get 15-20 fps at 1920x1080.
It all seems to be sound related. It just gets really choppy with gunfire.
I upgraded my 5400 rpm SATA drive for a 128Gb SSD today. Windows boots super fast and games load much faster. Just can't play them with this ridiculous lag. -
-
nope, still choppy and no more than 25-30 fps even after using /snd_restart at the beginning of every game.
I know it's not my ISP as my desktop gets 90 fps. -
-
I've been doing some thorough testing with several different combinations of settings and drivers.
I started with a complete factory restore.
Best settings seemed to yield about 30-35 FPS.
Latest drivers from Dell website for NVidia GT335M and Realtek audio.
I then set all the settings per the thread on page 28
http://i55.tinypic.com/whljj4.jpg
What's really interesting is COD MW2 plays flawlessly. 50-60 FPS all the detail turned up.
Another interesting thing. If I turn sound effects volume all the way down I get about 40-45 FPS in black ops. -
MAN YOU ARE A LEGEND.... thank you so much for this info.. i tried it and instantly got smooth lag free gameplay..i'v been pulling my hair out looking for a solution to this and im so relieved to finally be able to play black ops on my m11x R1....
I feel like kissing someone i swear to god
THANK YOU AGAIN
i highly recomend R1 users to use this tweak and graphics settings
im so happy right now
AMERO FOR PRESIDENT -
After tweaking again I get stable performance again. They still need to address the problems so it's like MW2. That runs crisp -
would you mind posing what driver versions you're running for the GT335M and Realtek HD Audio? -
new owner here. is the problem of not being able to play black ops related to the r1's lacking of performance or just the way the game is made?
this is one game id like to be able to play but not sure if people with r1s here are able to. -
double post.
-
It's the games fault. not the system. They have a lot of work to do
